I am far from "liked" on this board by some. Hell, I am even on ignore by several posters. But quit taking one criticism in one part of the game and fighting with the entire board over it.

Near the beginning of the 2nd quarter he had 5 rebounds, so that dog aint barking. And I'm not talking about the SEASON. I'm talking about TODAY. TODAY Dirk rebounded very well and certain knuckleheads on this board who have the myopic attention span of a house fly say RC should "bench Dirk" because of one missed rebound. Re-read the GDT, then tell me what you would guess his stats are. Not one person in the GDT mentioned Chandler, despite the fact that he had a God awful game, yet there are dozens of posts calling out Dirk. Extremely odd.

No, not everything is. There are a handful of great posters. A number of ones who I disagree with, but at least have cogent arguments. Kante falls into neither category.

Why get so worked up over what was said in the GDT? It always has huge mood swings and insane claims. Don't go there or *gasp* ignore stupid posts.
I mean, your point is well taken in this game... But honestly, why get so worked up over it? Let the small shit slide.
You can get mad all you want about how it feels like it's you against the board, but if you didn't feel the need to argue and insult endlessly about stuff that really doesn't matter, it wouldn't feel that way.

I did for the 2nd half. I'm not worked up at all. More amused, really.

at the time when the 90 percent called him out midway through the first quarter, he was playing bad. obviously, he went ballistic immediately after that and had a great game, and deserves no criticism.
still can't believe ajinca blocked his patented fadeaway though =\

I do think it's ridiculous to insinuate that Dirk doesn't care about rebounding. His rebounding numbers are going to be down with a top 5 center next to him and a zone system (when employed) that assigns certain players to certain parts of the floor. It seems like, because of Chandler's presence, Carlisle wants Dirk heading up the floor on a missed shot to look for early offense and/or a secondary break jumper more than he used to. Maybe my blind homer glasses need inspection, though.
Sometimes this board is pretty funny... 15-out-of-16 and bitching about Dirk's rebounding on a night when he had a double-double and looked pretty good (at least to me). The doom and gloom and knee-jerking in the GDTs does make my balls itch a bit, but to each his own.

I was at the game. The only game I can watch the Mavs live and they were down by almost 20 in the first quarter ... Thank goodness the law of averages came into play. Mavs picked it up in the second half and the Raptors ... well, they are the Raptors.
Wow, what a horrendous first 8 minutes of the first quarter. They couldn't make a shot to save their lives. I don't know if it was fatigue, playing down to competition, lack of focus, whatever.
However, amidst 19,000 screaming Raptors fans, I persevered! And the Mavs came through in the end. There were a handful of Mavs fans in the ACC. I saw a lot of Dirk, Kidd and even Butler jerseys.
It was great to see Dirk rebound the ball well. Mahinmi was extremely active. He still has some lapses on some rotations, but you could see that he is just so energetic that it affects the whole team.
Anyhow, great win!

Being able to see the mavs and the dirkster in person is always a priviledge. Good go...

Surely the boxscore is a misprint.

I didn't get to watch the game, but did anyone explain why Haywood didn't play at all? The box score gave him a DNP-CD. Just curious.

If I had a nickle for every GDT overreaction I pointed out I'd own these boards. And possibly the Mavericks. In the heat of the moment, everybody does it, even you. Get over it.

My chance is coming up next week. I haven't been to the AAC since March 08 and last saw the Mavs in SA for game 4 of the first round last year.
I'm way too excited.

There wasn't a big and bulky 5 for him to guard. Energy was a necessity in the game...that means Mahinmi is getting the minutes.

Indeed. The Toronto fans around me were with their kids. The dad was telling his kid "That's Dirk. He's a very good player." ..

Cad's actually spot on in this thread on the merits, his usual unnecessary tone aside. Dirk deserves a longer leash for missing an easy rebound or two. Especially when he's on his way to a doub-doub.
And GDT's are a you-know-what storm of moodiness. Been that way ever since the cooler heads of old stopped posting in them. Hopefully they'll be back for the 'offs as usual.

Dirk would have had 30 rebounds if he'd actually tried...

Mavs MOV jumps from +3.9 to +6.5 if you throw out the 11 non Dirk/Ty games (from after OKC thru Detroit)
