There was nothing difficult about that Nance dunk at all. 49? Really?

I actually like the way he's judging. I saw a Dunk Contest highlight video on Youtube from the 90s to now. Everyone was getting 50s, but when you see all of the 50s over time you see that some are a lot better than others. So, I don't like giving everything you like a 9 or 10.

Dennis by far had the most difficult dunk so far.

Maybe if they were all standing up, but they weren't.

Mitchell brought out 3 people under 5 feet tall and had them duck down?

Which one? His first cradle dunk is really difficult, a lot harder than it looks.

Too bad DSJ had the best dunk, but got eliminated. Nance shouldn't have moved on. Oh well.

My thoughts exactly. He cleared them by 3 feet too.

Yeah, weakdick... The fact that he got a 50 for that just shows that these judges are garbage.

Kevin Hart becomes a microorganism at that point.

I was referring to his 2nd dunk. Th cradle is difficult, but not original at all. His second dunk was a 180 degree windmill. Players do more exciting dunks in game.

I'm trying to remember, but I think back in the day if you missed your dunk you were essentially eliminated because the scores would be so low. I think the dunk contest has gone down since they started giving everybody 3 attempts.

Has Mitchell done the same dunk everytime? Off the backboard, catch with one hand, and slam it home?

That was new from Larry Nance Jr. Never seen that before. Pretty creative.

IMO DSJ had the best dunk of the night, although Nance's double tap and Mitchell's VC dunk were pretty nice.

Real shame DSJ didn't go to the final round. He had the best dunk of the night by far but he fucked it up when he gave up on the first one too quickly. Still, those "judges" were fuckin garbage.

I didn't think Nance's was that difficult, but that's easy for me to say from the couch. Mitchell's attempt at VC's dunk was nice, but he didn't get the full windmill in. I think I'm just mad we didn't get to see what else DSJ had up his sleeve.

Disappointing night for DSJ. He did have the most impressive dunk of the night, although I really liked the creativity from Nance Jr's double tap dunk. Not really DSJ's fault tho. The format of the dunk contest sucks now.
The silver lining. DSJ hanging out with all of those other young rising stars & all stars. Making friends! How the game is played now. Lol

Zach Lowe wrote about it in his column this week. We're going to be treated to an EPIC tank war to close out the season this year. I actually think it'll be pretty interesting, but I'm also a little sick that way. Lol

DSJ got robbed by crappy judges, but I’m not too butthurt because the best dunker in the league right was not in the contest — Terrance Ferguson.

Judging was definitely questionable. However, he came out and missed his first dunk. So did Oladipo & Nance Jr, but the bottom line is there's no way getting around the fact that if you throw down your first dunk it helps you & if you don't it hurts you.

The format and viewing experience at this point for all the All Star Events is trash. So far off the mark.

What they need to do is have all the teams send a rep for all the events and then run each event single elimination tournament style based on current team seeding.... now that would be legit.

What’s funny is Dennis is the only once who didn’t use gimmicks and kept it old school. Wearing older throwback jerseys is so cliched that I can’t believe it’s still a thing.

Yeah I don't even remember what dunk he did in the 1st round. I just remember the one he tried. It looked like it was going to be amazing if he made it.
I bet he made it 100 times in practice. I don't know why he just abandoned ship because he missed his first attempt. Maybe seeing Oladipo go 0 for 3 worried him, or made him think he could sneak in there with just completing a dunk.

I'm sure it was a combination of not wanting to miss all 3 dunks and expecting to get a higher score for his 1st dunk. He even tweeting something like "39 points for a made dunk and 32 for a missed dunk". Clearly he didn't agree with the judges. They should really bring in ex players to be judged. Khalid started out handing out 7-8 then gave nothing but 9-10. Dude had no clue what was going on.

Yeah I didn't like Khaled changing his scoring scale halfway through. In all seriousness, it should probably be made up of mostly past dunk contest participants. Players are one thing, but if they haven't been on National TV in the contest itself, then what do they know about what those players are trying to do.
That said, nothing changes the fact that it was DSJ's mistake for not trying to complete the first dunk. Nobody else did that. The fact that he changed it, in & of itself, says this next dunk is easier because I'm trying to make sure I do a dunk I can do. Sends a real bad message to everyone & no one is responsible for that mistake but DSJ.
I also think the way he just walked off after doing the dunk. No fanfare & was even shaking his head like he was disappointed with his effort himself. Not a good look.
All of that betrayed his actual performance.
