Think he?ll take awhile to find his place on the team, I?m on record that I?d rather him not shoot 3s but dribble in paint, cuts, etc.

Yeah
I'm puzzled as to why he isn't posting up more or just driving to the rim.

There is a lot of pressure on PJ after being on a crap nobody cares team his whole career.
But I'm not sure it was worth an almost completely unprotected first just to get rid of Grant who I personally didn't get the hate. He has been really good for Charlotte so far.
Time will tell.

I mean there?s no pressure there and he may be in somewhat shape now. But without doing revisionist history, I was getting sick watching him even have the ball in his hands.
The only mistake the Mavs made was thinking he could be a 3rd/4th option on this team. He is more of a 7th/8th guy. Thankfully Mavs realized the situation they were in and made a definitive move immediately

PJ needs to be involved more. Get him some iso looks and post up opportunities. He has value beyond his open shot making. We just can't afford for him to lose cinfidence or feel like he has to press to fit in.
Kai and Luka were on fire in different ways

Mavs for most of the season: good first quarter. Terrible for the rest of the game
Mavs now: terrible first quarters. Dominant in the fourth

Grant is a bucket better than his career avg this season, most of which was with us. I'm super happy he is gone. He wasnt what i though he was advertised defensively and at no point could he just get you a bucket when you needed it. He didnt even have potential to provide excitement.
Thj is the only player left that i cant stand watching. He has been here too long, we will have pouty Thj if Kidd swapped Hardy and his role, which is probably what should happen. At least DP minutes are down where they should be.

it feels like a huge cloud has lifted off of this organization and for us die hards.
Like, watching Mavs basketball is fun again.
Not specifically the blowouts, but they look like a team with almost all the pieces and room to improve.

Well we're defending and rebounding. That's all I wanted especially the rebounding.
As I posted in the other thread, we're basically top 5 in all categories since Kyrie came back.

And Gafford is a beast in February. 15/12/3 including some Wizards games. I'm pretty shocked the Wizards traded him if I'm being honest.

Luka is Kidd, Dirk, and Marion in one body
Kyrie is our JET
Washington is looking like our Stevenson

My only gripe is his outside shooting.
But I know the mavs system is what makes him look bad offensively right now.
They don't post him or use him in pick n roll much. He's never been a top notch 3 point shooter.
The good thing is he works hard on defense and doesn't just jack up bad shots like THJ.
He's not as long as Arron Gordon but I think he could be utilized in similar situations.

Looked it up, and PJ actually has a longer wingspan and standing reach. I think Gordon is a good comparison.

Aaron Gordon is a good comp. I hope they don?t try to use PJ as a spot up shooter aka DFS. That?s not his game at all. He?d be great as an Aaron Gordon type.

Looking back, Wemby had 20 points with 10 min left in the 2nd quarter.
Ended with 26 points.
Gonna say something crazy about the Mavs: the defense adjusted.

Wemby was 0-3 with 2TOs when Washington was on him.
PJ hasn't been offensively flowing, but his defense disrupted what was a monster game in the making by Wemby.

Afseth swooping in for the PJ defensive stats.
https://twitter.com/GrantAfseth/stat...71751572238468
So basically, we no longer have to live and die by the three. Meaning we can likely weather bad THJ shooting games.

Yea man, PJ's defense on Wemby was tough last night. Made Wemby looked tired AF toward the end of the game and forced him into uncomfortable situations that led to turnovers or a disrupted offensive sequence.
Mavs have a very active and athletic 4? And two of 'em at the 5? Pinch me...

Agree with those first two
Luka is more just Kidd/Dirk and maybe some Brewer in him but Marion is tough to compare to lol
Kyrie is Kidd/Jet/Barea and more
Washington, Green, and DJJ are a mix of Marion/Stevenson
THJ is a discount Peja/Jet mix
Hardy is Jet in the making
Maxi is Cardinal
Powell close to what Mahinmi provided
Exum is on his way to being the Caron Butler of this team

I really don't like living in the past. I know it's for giggles, but I do think the FO often tries to emulate what we had way back when. Hopefully that changes now that Cuban isn't in charge.
I want them to win it all in a new and different way. And I really want them to win it all with prime defense and rebounding. So far, so good.
