I thought I heard that Sam was probably going to head to the IR b/c of the injury.

I expected the Cowboy's luck with injuries would end eventually, but I didn't think it would be in one game. Deemn.

Yea like BG mentioned, it looks like Hurd's gonna be put on the IR since his surgery is season ending. Just gets even better.

The problem with Hurd going on IR is they really need another receiver on the roster.
ESPN is reporting both Hurd and McBriar are going on IR.

Roy Williams (Detroit) needs to find a new home by the trade deadline tomorrow...

Unless they cut back on their demand for a first rounder, I don't see Roy going anywhere. That seems to be the asking price and I don't think anyone is quick to say "YES! DEAL!!!"
John Kitna has a better shot of being a Cowboy by the deadline than Roy.

I would give a first rounder for Roy Williams in a nanosecond. I don't think that's all they're asking for.

I'm with thiggy, here....a YOUNG and proven pro bowl quality WR is worth a first...if thats all they're asking.

What if it's two, the 09 and a future number 1?

The only part with giving up a 1st rounder is that you're giving a way a 1st rounder for a player a team doesn't want. I wouldn't give anything more than a 2nd rounder. He's a elite talent in this league but I just have a problem giving up a #1 for a guy who doesn't want to play for Detroit.
And a two and a future #1 is just too much. Receiver is a need to free up for TO but i'm not sure if its a need to where we trade our future for it. Especially if we can draft a younger reciever in the draft with that pick who's 21 or 22. Desean Jackson was there this year and the year before Bowe of KC was there in the late 1st.

see...John Kitna has a better chance of becoming a Cowboy before Roy Williams.
Not endorsing that move, but I'm just saying.

Yea. If they want Carpenter or someone insignificant plus a #2 or some form of draft picks than that's fine. But i'm not trying to help the Lions out. Let them suck forever for all I care.

On second thought, I wouldn't mind giving them Barber for Roy as long as they throw Calvin Johnson in the deal.

ESPN fantasy report on Kitna:
Quote:
This seems to be a very, very strange situation. The Lions are refusing to release any information regarding Kitna's health, even after he had an MRI and saw a spine specialist. Also, Kitna continues to maintain that he will be able to play again this season. Former Lions and current 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz is reportedly trying to convince San Francisco that Kitna would fix their problems under center. This situation is far from settled, and there figures to be a few more twists before it is resolved.

3 hours until the deadline...
Quote:
The Dallas Morning News reports the trade deadline is 3 p.m. today, and owner and Cowboys GM Jerry Jones is in St. Petersburg, Fla., for the owners meetings conducting league business. The Cowboys are not in any serious talks with teams about a potential trade, though the Lions are shopping WR Roy Williams, a UT-ex who has expressed a desire to play in Dallas.

McBriar's on IR. He's done for the season. Sam Hurd is supposedly probably going on IR as well.
Anthony Spencer is week to week with a hamstring.

We have been sooooo lucky the last couple of years with injuries. It's time to pay the Piper, obviously.
I hope it's not my fault for stickying the GDT.

Favre calls injured Romo, offers encouragement and advice
By Ed Werder
ESPN.com
( Archive)
Updated: October 14, 2008, 3:43 PM ET New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre, who has started an NFL-record 258 consecutive regular-season games, told ESPN he called Tony Romo to offer encouragement as the young quarterback copes with a fractured finger on his passing hand that apparently will end his streak of consecutive starts after 30 often spectacular performances.
Favre called Romo as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was heading to an appointment with doctors.
Romo could not be reached by ESPN for comment.
Favre said he respects Romo's toughness and regards him as one of the top-five players in the entire NFL, regardless of position.
Predictably, Favre advised Romo to do everything possible to avoid the sideline, explaining how he played though the agonizing pain of a fractured thumb to maintain his streak with the Green Bay Packers.
"The only thing I said was, it's worth trying [to play] if you can deal with the pain and can function good enough with a splint,'' Favre said. "If not, don't try.''
Romo will not require surgery but is expected to miss four weeks with his injury. While quarterbacks such as Favre and Drew Bledsoe -- the quarterback Romo replaced in Dallas -- have played with broken fingers, the Cowboys explain that the pinkie is essential in gripping the ball whereas other fingers are more involved in delivering accurate passes and taking direct snaps from under center.
Favre told Romo that his thumb injury "hurt like hell, but that doesn't mean a pinkie would be any easier.''
Although there seems to be some unjustified question about Romo's toughness, Favre has no such doubts, lavishing praise on a player whose reckless style and fun-loving nature on the field has been compared to the future Hall of Famer who holds virtually every significant NFL record for quarterbacks.
"I talked to Tony about what I did to play with the thumb,'' Favre said. "Everyone is different and the two injuries are different, so only Tony knows. I will say this: Not only do I think he's tough, but I think he's also one of the top five playes in the entire league.''
Ed Werder covers the NFL for ESPN.com.
-------
Personally, I just think Brett wants Romo to do well so the Boys can stick it to the Packers.

Maybe. He told coaches he was willing. The question now is if they want him to.
I still predict Johnson plays the majority of the game Sunday.

I wouldn't play him unless he was fully confident in his hand not being an issue. I know the Rams had a very surprising victory over the Redskins but it's still the Rams. Maybe have a go at it vs Tampa. We can't afford any more major setbacks.

I don't want him playing if he can't hold on to the ball. He has already demonstrated enough problems with that, good pinky and all.

Seriously, he can't not fumble the thing 3 times with 5 fingers...with 4 he needs to take a few weeks off.
