I see your point but Charlie is a throw-in to match salaries...we can easily dump him anytime if we want. The trade would be Felton for KM which would be a lateral move imo. Felton is more clutch and KM gives us more O off the bench. Neither is a good defender so size doesn't really matter in this case. Considering Felton knows our system I'd say we are gaining nothing by making that trade.
And using your logic....losing Felton would mean more minutes for Barea which would be addition by subtraction in a negative manner

This team needs scoring off the bench though. When Dirk and even Parsons are out the offense is very stagnant. Agreed neither KMart or Felton are good defenders, but having size does help. It's much easier to get a shot up on a defender who is 6'2 rather than 6'7. I'd much rather run JJ and KMart on the floor at the same time than JJ and Felton. Assuming Harris comes back soon I think he would dip into some of JJ's minutes. Losing Felton's clutchness would hurt, however. He has hit some big shots at the end of the shot clock and in the 4th quarter of games.

@espn_macmahon: Kobe overkill, Blake-to-Dallas dots possibly forming, Jerry's club and much more the next 2 hours on @KESN1033 with @JJT_ESPNDallas and me.
Anyone able to listen to this? I'm assuming he's talking about Blake Griffin and not Steve Blake?

Didn't listen, but he was referring to Griffin.

Is it too early to speculate on where Blake Griffin signs in the summer of 2017? I could easily see him in Dallas as Dirk's replacement.

I know, right?? I almost got excited there for a moment too, but BPo001 says it was Blake Griffin (meh).

Why on earth is he speculating for the summer of 2017? Junk like that might mean this is a fairly quiet deadline outside of possibly getting a bench piece like Martin.

So according to Broussard Denver rejected an offer of:
Griffin/Stephenson for Faried/Gallenari/Barton/Jokic

Based on some of our discussions just for fun would this work:
Clips receive:
Melo/Felton/CV
Knicks receive:
Powell/Parsons/Stephenson/Clips pick (if they have one) or Anderson
Dallas receives:
Griffin/Afflalo

I doubt Dallas would make that trade because it would sabotage this season but we would get that much needed young superstar and Dirk's future replacement.

Disagree... 1) Dallas wouldn't hesitate for a second to punt this season away if Griffin was the prize... 2) Dallas won't have an opportunity to make that decision because it isn't happening (although I do give you credit for coming up with a somewhat plausible trade scenario -- the rumor mill is dead right now!)

This is one of the weeks of the season to dream so if they could pull this trade off this season then sign Batum in the off-season.
DWill/Barea
Matthews/Harris/Jenkins
Batum/Anderson
Griffin/Dirk/Evans
Zaza/McGee/Mejri
I'd be ecstatic if that dream came true

Maybe im in the minority but I dont see Blake Griffin as a cornerstone type player. On top of that, over the years Ive been watching him in the league, I dont really like his personality on the court.
Add in the bullsh!t from the summer, and I think he's very childish.

This year, things will be a little different. The Mavericks aren’t looking for any sort of major moves. They have turned over the roster each of the last three summers and at some point, they are going to hang onto the key components they have amassed.

What concerns me more about Griffin is how he would fit in Rick's system. Rick would most likely have him playing center at least the rest of Dirk's career.
Nevertheless I'd still love to see the Mavs acquire him one way or another.

Blake Griffin is almost certainly one of the 10 best players in the league. Similar to my feelings with Melo... if you can get a player like that without stripping the cupboard completely bare, you have to do it.
I'd probably trade and two players on this roster, plus a first-round pick (that we can't really trade right now anyway) for Blake and wouldn't regret it for a second.

Lol, the Mavs have literally no assets to get BG. There is 0.0% chance.

Kevin Martin is always injured. Our Starting 3 Point Specials is still recovering from an Achilles Tear.
Melo has a No Trade Clause and wont come to Dallas ever.
Also why would we want a ballhogging chucking 30+yr old declining Melo?
I think the Mavs wont do anything until the Deadline. We dont have Assets and dont have Picks and could go only lateral at best.

That's why you get a 3rd team involved.
LA might be attractive to him (and wife)...especially if he can go to a contender.
A trade involving BG, CA and CP+Youth/DPs has a better chance than trying to trade with NY directly.

Melo is playing the best all-around basketball of his career right now and barring injury, his game should age very well.

Orlando trades Tobias Harris to Detroit for Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. Pistons assembling a pretty salty defense (though Harris is not a good shooter) and Orlando..... uh, sheds a pretty reasonable near-max contract? At least Skiles gets a couple of vets he trusts....?

The Charlotte Hornets have acquired shooting guard Courtney Lee from the Memphis Grizzlies, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Grizzlies will receive P.J. Hairston and two second-round picks from the Hornets, while Charlotte is also sending Brian Roberts to the Miami Heat. The Heat are trading Chris Andersen and two second-round picks to Memphis.

Huh? The trade was done as an offensive (and athletic) upgrade. Harris is an awful defender. Probably a wash with Ersan on that front.

Not official, so it may not belong in the official trade thread.

It's a small move but I think that really elevates LA. Frye is a very good 3 pt shooter and having other playmaker around him only helps. Plus you get rid of a cancer. Win win

I totally disagree with this... I think Tobias is going to be a lot better on both ends of the ball, but he's a totally different player than Ilyasova. Harris is best as a PNR ball handler (in fact, he might be the best frontcourt ballhandler in the pick and roll in the entire NBA), slasher and on post mismatches on offense. Defensively, he's actually a very good rim protector in terms of FG% and next to Drummond, the Pistons have the potential to be one of the stingiest defenses in the league.

@espn_macmahon: Mavs would have interest in Kevin Martin if he receives buyout, source says. They do not want to trade for him due to $7M owed next season.
@espn_macmahon: One edge Mavs will have in buyout market is they can offer more than minimum. They did not use cap-room exception this summer.

I like Martin a lot more as a potential buyout free agent signing for the Mavs... but what motivation would the Wolves have to do that unless he was taking a pretty significant discount? Or would they be stretching him?

Sorry to see the board going down. I've been a spectator since the 6th or 7th grade...always great source for my Mavs fix!
Anyways, M Morris via trade and sign L Sanders. I don't know how but that's a gamble I'm willing to take this year if I'm Cubes.

Even if we did sign Larry Sanders I doubt he'd have any impact considering he's been out of basketball for 2 years. With that being said I'm all for signing him this off season.

Not crazy about Stephenson at all but with limited options the Mavs have to make those types of moves.
Low risk/high reward potential so I'd say it is a no brainer as long as we don't have to give up any assets for him.

Funny that Stephenson's shooting percentages are quite high because of lower usage rate. Mavs badly need another SF, and I don't see why you wouldn't take a chance on him if he is bought out.
