From the
Dallas Morning News:
The Mavs didn't have a shot in the Greg Oden/Kevin Durant sweepstakes, but they might be affected by some of the dominoes that fall after tonight's lottery.
The Mavs and the rest of the West probably breathed a sigh of relief when the Hawks ended up with the third pick. PHX, which had the rights to Atlanta's pick if it wasn't top three, is tough enough without adding Al Horford or Joakim Noah.
The Sonics winding up with the second pick, which will presumably be Durant, is mighty interesting from a Mavs perspective. Rashard Lewis, who Mark Cuban wooed during his first dip into free agency, can opt out of his contract. The drafting of Durant, who has similar size and skills but more potential than Lewis, should make the opt-out a done deal.
How does sending Jason Terry to his hometown in a sign-and-trade for Lewis sound? Potential starting five: Devin Harris, Josh Howard (can he be a full-time 2?), Lewis, Dirk and Gana Diop.
