Cuban's wrong-headed thinking when it came to Nash most definitely set this franchise back. How much it set it back, it is hard to tell. But it definitely set it back. You don't just lose talent and get better as a result.

I blame Nash for Cuban's wrong-headed thinking.

It would be a different story if we had at least one title... but we don't. A finals appareance isn't reason enough to assume we made the right decision and at this point with years gone by it will always be a question of "what if?" even if we do win a championship within the next few seasons.

No it doesnt, it boils down to whether it makes sense to argue about something or not and in this case NOT. Anyone that says that Nash wasnt great for this team is gotta be crazy. But what happened happened for a reason and soo we moved on and he moved on...NO HATE HERE

How much better would Nash had been in Dallas if he had played for Avery Johnson?

who said that he wasn't great for the team? He was great, then he ditched the team for some cash.

Suggesting that the success Nash had in phoenix (or lack thereof since we are discussing finals appearances) is in any way correlated with the success he would have had in dallas (a completely different scenario) is a bit pretentious. Either you believe Nash + mavs = title or you don't, eithe side is impossible to disprove.
And Avery would not have been coaching here if Nash was still around. It would still be Nelson and if not him I'm sure Donnie and Cuban had enough collective brain power to know we needed a more offensive minded coach like Flip or Adelman.

Nelson gets more and more full of give-up the deeper he gets into the playoffs.

I'll take an NBA western conference championship and nba finals appearance over letting Nash walk anyday.

I can't blame him.
All the years with the mavs he was underpaid.
He was their allstar pointguard and was getting less money than some of the (end of)bench players.
