This lineup is sad defensively
Next week they are going to put DFS on Leonard and THJ on George
Let that sink in people......
George who is known for vanishing in the playoffs might get his mojo back vs THJ defending him

He started only because of KP being out.
Did you even bother to check that part out?
He was benched before the Detroit game and if you notice he played in the Detroit game but RC specifically said Powell was moved into the starting lineup for more energy
Powell and KP have been starting together when both guys have been available

Powell did not start on 5/04, 5/06, 5/07, 5/09, 5/11. Doesn’t look like he has a lock on the starting lineup.

Our game had zero impact on the standings. Win or loss, we’d be 5th and Clips 4th

Clippers lost last two games to teams with a 6-67 recort in the past 73 games.
They wanted to dodge a 2nd round Lakers matchup like chickens

ok but why are you upset at a team doing what they think was best for them?
The Mavs lost to pitiful teams to so I don't see what your point is.....
They avoid the Lakers and get the Mavs in the 1st round why would that be any different from anyone else who is trying to advance deep in the post season?
I'm sure the Mavs would have done the same exact thing but sure you'll deny it

Right because Willie started
But Powell/KP seems to be their desired front court which is why they went with that tandem as opposed to KP/Kleber
Kleber hasn't really been playing well and let's be honest even when healthy they were still having issues with him and KP starting together.
They were getting off to slow starts and the defense/rebounding wasn't much better than it is now.....
In fact the only tandem that I think works defensively is KP/WCS but that ain't going to happen either.
I know one thing for sure D.Cousins bullied all 3 of our big guys so really we might not have and answer regardless of pairings

not sure why it would be ok for one team but not the other....
If Dallas was in the same exact situation not a single fan on here would bash them for avoiding the Lakers

Getting your shit kicked in by one of the worst franchises in the league which is also led by two career losers. Way to close out the season.
People can say ultimately the game didnt matter all they want but all the mavs glaring weaknesses were still at full display and theres no hiding from that

And sure lets keep telling ourselves that the clippers tanking was all about avoiding the lakers and had nothing to do with matching up with this mediocre mavs team lmao

Then stop following the Mavs if you think this is a pissing competition and we need to beat every bad team to somehow be man enough to take the big dawgs.
Clippers lose to a worse team and they're fine. Mavs lose to the Timberwolves in a game that doesn't matter and we're just not good enough.
Piss off with that attitude and cheer for your damn team.

That game vs Memphis and then vs the Raptors G-League roster showed me this team is a mess defensively.
I mean they can't seem to stop anyone from getting into the paint and that puts more pressure on our weak defending bigs to protect the paint.
It's like a double edge sword....
This team literally fixed nothing defensively from last year and now were are right back to starting Powell, THJ, Luka and KP.
I truly don't see how in hell that lineup will get stops unless Paul George has a massive choke job.
I would like think having a full week off with practice will help at least with TEAM defense and guys will know their rotations. Hell I'm even hoping RC throws out some zone defense instead of relying on THJ and DFS to man up vs Leonard & George.
If the offense of WCS and Richardson could be trusted I'd probably tolerate those two starting vs the Clippers as opposed to Powell/THJ. I'm not a fan J.Rich but man something tells P.George is going to destroy THJ

Seriously? Those 2 games showed you this team is a mess defensively? Not all the other games this season?
Its baffling how it all came down to those 2 games particularly for you. Like the entire season we've had the same team except when we traded for worse defenders lol. It all hinged on those 2 games for you?
Youre right... this team is not good defensively. It's no secret that we lack legit 2 way players and are generally not great. Nothing we can do about it now.
At the same time A few others are right. You are a bit over the top with the constant bashing of the team (oddly aside from KP). I politely ask you, like the other fella a cpl months ago to bring a better mix of bash and praise. It's really unbalanced.

LOL
KP is not the only guy that I've praised
I've often praised WCS, DFS, Kleber and Maxi to name a few
Also, I'm not sure what unbalanced means...
Since when does a sports forum require fans to be 100% or 50% positive?
Not everyone is going to cheer for the team the same way (positively or negatively)
Hell I'm a Cowboys fans and I must say fans really go hard after that team but guess what they all want the same thing at the end of the day a Super Bowl winner.
Mavs fans seem really sensitive if you react negative towards the team or certain players.
Which brings me to KP for the bashing he gets on him do you think I've ever asked anyone to bring some balance to the table when dissing him?
But for some reason your either a hater or not a fan at all which is silly if you ask me because most of them act like the franchise just started once Luka arrived....
A few of us are tied of seeing the same sorry ass defensive displays for the last decade.....way before Luka arrived

My reasoning has nothing to do with KP/Kleber starting the year
I said recently the KP/Powell front court seems to be their desired direction.
That started with the Detroit game when they made the 1st lineup change.
Willie seemed to have been the starter in small lineups while KP was out because he's better then Powell at rim protection if your playing only one big.
He was the only big slotted with DFS at PF that made more sense then Powell and DFS starting together
You seem to think that I want Powell starting.....trust me if I'd much rather have Kleber but I now right now RC seems to be rolling with the KP/Powell tandem from last year

That's a great question
I guess I don't pay attention to that type of stuff because it doesn't bother me one way or the other....
If people are that sensitive about someone posting on a sports forums you could ask the same question right?
I listen to hundreds of Mavs fans vent all the time on Kirk's podcast and not a single person seems to let it effect them one way or the other so maybe those guys just have thicker skin LOL

It could be a sensitivity issue in terms of how long can you handle a daily dose of a 4 year old hitting you with rubber mallet in the head. It doesn't kill you at first, but over time people build up a sensitivity to it. Lol. That's not my best effort of an analogy.
I can only speak for myself and I agree with the defensive takes and several other takes. We've often been on the same page with what the team is. The forum though, has always been more receptive of harsh criticisms if its mixed with some positivity as well...which is what I meant by unbalanced. I personally do not care for those who only post sunshine or just negativity. I prefer to have my harsh truth served by those chefs who maintain credibility through balance. That's just me. I guess There's always going to be those who think anyone who criticizes the team are not fans.

Pissed off unless we make miracles happens.
The good thing about facing the Cliopers is that we have a rematch vs those dirt bags.
You want revenge? It's right there in front of us! I know I do.

Well just the record your one of my favorite posters mainly because you do add sarcasm to most of your post regardless if the situation is up or down...
trust me I want nothing more then to see the Mavs end this decade long losing streak in the playoffs (1st round exit)
I don't want this franchise to take a decade to build a true contender around Luka like they did with Dirk....
It's bad enough the Cowboys are going on 25 years without even sniffing a conference championship let a lone a Super Bowl.

Dirk's first season was 98-99. They were legit contenders in 02-03: tied for best record in the league and lost WCF after Dirk got injured.
Five years is not a decade.
