Wolves: Kurt Rambis is their coach this year. When he played he was known for those type of glasses.
Bobcats: Looks like a ping-pong ball, which is the only thing they're playing for?
Pacers: Turned the P into a question mark. Not sure what the significance is.

Ahhh..thanks. I figured someone must be wearing glasses with the T-wolves, but the ping-pong ball and questions mark totally escaped me.

Manu's bald spot is beginning to be a distraction. It's all I'm able to concentrate on when he's on the floor. I have no idea why he doesn't cut it. It's like watching an Argentinean World B. Free.

He can obviously shoot but it's going to take more than that for him to come close to Dirk. Does he have the same heart, toughness and work ethic? I'm guessing no but time will tell.

The real question is, who will be the better player between Gallinari and Bargs? At this point Gallinari is an extremely glorified VladRad. Bargs is the better defender and has a more versatile offensive game. Both are very poor rebounders.
Gallinari will never be Dirk, I can guarantee you that. He will never have the post game of Dirk, never have the rebounding skills, and never have the ability to create his own shot and get to the FT line like Dirk. Danilo is putting up dozens of threes with the Knicks, well, because it's D'Antoni. Bargs would be doing the same thing there. Gallinari is 6"11, 220. Yes, he can grow into a better rebounder like Dirk did. Yes, he can become a better defender, ect. But, having watched him for awhile, I don't think he has the ability/skills to ever create for himself or play in the post like Dirk does. I think he'll always be a shooter, granted a 20-25 PPG shooter. Perhaps a taller prime Peja.
In the long run though, I see Bargs being the better overall player.

Another Euro who's doing work:
Marc Gasol. Man is averaging 20/11/2/2/1 on 70% shooting, and tonight he put up 20/11/4 on 7/9 shooting.

You know I'm beginning to think we were a little premature in ripping Mr. Chris Wallace for the Pau trade. Getting Marc Gasol out of that trade is making it look like less and less of the lopsided deal that I once thought it was.

By the way, Carmelo is picking up where he left off in the playoffs. He just dropped 42 points to push his scoring average up to 37.7 ppg. You know I always thought he had it in him to lead the league in scoring, and this might be the year that he finally does it.

I remember being convinced that Carmelo was going to be better than Lebron when they were rookies. So far I'm wrong but if he keeps improving he could get to Lebron's level.

Orlando is playing like the best team in basketball right now. 17-32 from beyond the arc against the Raptors. You kidding me? Beat Toronto without Vince, Pietrus, or Rashard Lewis. Redick stepped in and played 44 minutes and had 27 points, six rebounds, and five assist with only one turnover. Ryan Anderson is taking most of Bass' minutes.
Gortat played 14 minutes and shot 0-3 with 1 rebound and 3 fouls.
By the way, I still hate Orlando for the Gortat situation, but it may come back to bite them in the long run.

Otis Smith better hope that the Magic keep winning and/or he has a trade partner lined up for Gortat that isn't going to back out.
Because based simply on the kind of playing time Gortat is getting, that contract is looking more and more ridiculous.

Yep, Ryan Anderson is looking like their best off season acquisition so far and he was just thought to be a throw in on the Vince deal. He's taller and better than Bass and is beating Bass out for minutes which may end up making the Bass signing look a little silly also. Then again, as long as they're winning everything will be golden for them.

Yeah he's been impressive considering the expectations. Not an above the rim kind of guy but he gets down the court quickly enough in transition, position himself well for the spot up three, and I've even seen him put in the floor and drive to the hole a couple times in the two Orlando games I've watched.

Hornets fell to the Knicks and are now 1-3, just like the Knicks. Okafor looks fantastic though, I hoped the rumors before the season about chemistry issues at the hornets were true, but if they are, it's not bothering him nor CP. Gotta hope they continue loosing nonetheless, today was a good start for sure.
Bobcats beat the Devin-less Nets and G.Wallace put up a ridicoulus 24/20. After 4 games he's averaging 14 rebounds. When was the last time a small forward did either of that?
Rockets-Jazz is still close shortly after halftime, it would be nice if the Rockettes keep it competitive until the final minute. Maybe they can even escape with a win.

After that game I looked at their roster to check what their playoff rotation might be, provided they stay healthy and don't trade anybody.
Recently they have only 13 players under contract, but if they want to get to nine, 2 out of the group of Anderson, Barnes, Bass, Reddick and Pietrus will have to take a seat besides A.Johnson and A.Foyle. So all you can say now is that they will either sit a lot of talent, or they won't play a tight playoff-rotation at all. They could even take on another player with that trade exception from the Turkoglu S&T, but they already have the highest payroll in the league.
edit: Btw, Utah lost and their starters played at least 34 min each. That's a good set-up for our game tomorrow, no?

The hornets just are not deep enough. They got 3 great players but after that, its kinda all scrubs.
And btw whats up with Jordan Hill not playing every game for the knicks. It says coacher decision....
I knew they should have gone with Jennings. He is tearing it up over in Milwaukee. Plus his personality would have fit in great with NY.

On the Hornets you have a very liberal definition of great.
On Jordan Hill I've been thinking the same thing. The hiring of Donnie Walsh was praised in basketball circles but it appears he screwed up a pick that he absolutely could not afford to screw up. They don't have their pick next year so he'll be trying to sell Lebron on a team built around Danilo Gallinari and David Lee....if they can retain him. It's gone from long shot to no way in hell.

No punishment for Rondo, Paul
Posted on: November 5, 2009 11:12 am
After reviewing the altercation between Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul during and after Sunday's game in Boston between the Celtics and Hornets, the NBA decided not to take disciplinary action against either player.
Neither point guard will receive any type of fine or suspension for the fracas, which boiled over after Rondo incensed Paul by reportedly chiding him that he's won a championship and Paul never will. Earlier in the game, won by the Celtics 97-87, each player received a technical foul for a confrontation under the basket. After the final buzzer, the players exchanged words and had to be separated as the teams left the floor. Paul unsuccessfully tried to enter the Celtics' locker room to continue the discussion, and Hornets coach Byron Scott said he overheard Paul saying, "He's going to respect me as a man."
The Celtics are off to a 6-0 start, while the Hornets are struggling out of the gate with a 2-3 record that has only intensified Paul's frustration.

Paul's ego is way too big. Way too much pride.

Paul is a bitch, but if he was in Boston instead of Rondo, we might as well cancel the rest of the season since it would be too predictable.

Wow, Bulls win over the Cavs.
I was SHOCKED that LeBron didn't get that call. There was clearly no foul as LeBron lost the ball, but as soon as he drove to the basket and Deng and Noah went up to guard him, I was saying "oh damn, foul for sure"... and .... no call. Hell just froze over.

Are the refs actually doing their job this year and not doing favortism anymore? That would be fantastic.
I don't think last year JJB would of got that charge call against Chris Paul.

I was surprised too. Even more surprised that those ESPN hacks defended the call.
Still, that's just another reason why the Mavs should have...ah hell.
Anyway, it's early. The same old BS will come out in the wash in the end as far as officiating goes. Dirk may, MAY have benefited from it in his miraculous 4th quarter. It generally evens out IMO.

By the end of the season, after people forget, and assuming Donaghy is sufficiently silenced, all will be back to normal in the NBA.

In a sick, sick way, Stern could actually control where LBJ goes next summer, NY, NJ or Cle, by allowing the Russians to take over the Brooklyn project. A lot more calls in close games ala last night, keeping that trophy out of Clevelands hand.
