The Mavericks right now are a little lucky that Atlanta is shooting so horribly.

Does Josh Smith have something against Dirk? Two monster blocks. His head was atleates 2 feet over the rim.

I was extremely pissed at his comment.
I know.

We all know he's a stud (Dirk, not V)

Take away Dirk's blocked attempt... and he's shooting 50%.

He's back.

Josh gets off the ground so quick. How many blocks is that 6? He has 3 on Dirk alone.

The Seattle game. He didn't have a attempt the whole quarter until a minute was left in the game. Can't really blame him for not getting shots though after going 0-5.

Walker sure does love crossing over in the paint to show off, then passing out.

I wasn't looking for blame. I just couldn't remember a time when he went that long without an attempt. He's forced things before but he hasn't done that tonight so I'm happy he wasn't taking shots away from others.

There are two things with Dirk that you can tell he has "lift" in his legs. The play a moment ago is one of the telling signs. He tipped that ball to himself about three times before he could secure it. A game or two ago, he couldn't do that. He didn't have the "burst" to jump consecutively like that. The second thing is he got his hop-skip tonight. Watch him sometime when he's feeling good. It is almost as if he's skipping around playing hopscotch instead of basketball.

what a 'baby'... rushing back with hurting teeth in a game that the Mavs could easily win without him... I think he's a great role model with passion for the game (but who am I telling this )

Well the Mavs were in a scoring drought before Dirk and Finley came back in. They haven't helped much but I see why Nellie brought them back in. He should be taking them out right about now though.

Nellie was just trying not to lose the game. I can't fault him for wanting to go into New York feeling good. I don't feel that great about going into New York with a 10 point lead over the Hawks. I think that's just what Nellie was trying to do. Keep a hefty lead on the Hawks. You can't blame much on Nellie tonight. I know he's enemy #1 in Dallas but tonight you have to give credit where it's due because I wasn't too impressed with our offensive showing tonight.

And the dumbest thing about it:

who cares if Atlanta was mounting a charge?

As pitful as they shoot, they can't score 20 points in an open gym. There was no f'n reason to breing Dirk back in the game.

Is it really that big of a deal? Nellie took them out with three minutes left into the game. It's not like he finished the game with Dirk and Fin on the court.

I wouldn't pick on the Hawks shooting woes considering how badly we shot tonight.
This isn't a game to brag about. Dirk got every point and rebound when we were up by 30 already.

Is it really that big of a deal?
Yes. Because both of them need rest. And what is the best way to give it to them? By playing a sucky team. The Mavs got one tonight, and I won't even go into the risk of injury in the meaningless 4th quarter, but Dirk could've used that time to just rest the ankle for a little while longer.

No need to pound an ankle when you don't have to... and the Mavs didn't need him.
