This is pretty much my viewpoint. Whether Google has "evil" intentions or not, it's still dangerous for one company to have this much access to so many people's information. Imagine if Google got hacked, or if someone inside Google had ulterior motives.

that old saying about power and corruption and absolute power and corrupting absolutely doesn't just apply to politicians.

Google doesn't seem to participate in that censorship:

I would imagine google.cn would get you different results.

But again, they can either participate with the government censorship or not have a presence in China. As I said before, all the other search engines made the same decision. If this is just a general rant against big corporations, fine. I'll leave you to your tinfoil hats. But don't act like Google is somehow more sinister than other big corporations.

thank you, good grief. Yes, any corporation bent on world domination deserves some suspicion. And the closer they get to it, the more we should be suspicious.

And no(!) just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it's ok. Especially if your motto is 'do no evil.'

Just felt like bumping this. I've been gradually moving to using Chrome full time. I use it exclusively at home, and use IE only for some things at work that require it.

Great, great browser. Only thing it's missing is an autofill feature (which is weird, because Google has an autofill on their IE Google Toolbar)
