That's what happens when you win the MVP, and then instantly fall apart, embarrasing yourself and your team in the first round of the playoffs.

Makes everyone who voted for you feel stupid, and they're not likely to vote for you again.

Mark my words, Dirk will never win another MVP, no matter how well he plays. Never. And even though he may well end up deserving it, there's no way he will ever be a serious MVP contender.

At least he got one.

That may be true, but he should still be on the list. He was still on the top 10 list (towards the bottom) the year after the GS beat down. There's no excuse for him to be behind Harris, Joe Johnson and Duncan.

Yet some people on this board think that he's overrated...

Trash.

I hope you mean top 10 of all time, ever. It is basically an insult to only mention him in the top ten in the MVP running this year only.

Lebron with Pau Odumb Fisher Farmer Ariza would win the next 5 titles.

I am not a fan of Avery, but unless you are you using an extremely liberal definition of the word "candidate," then Dirk does most certainly not apply.

But on closer inspection of those ESPN rankings, Dirk obviously belongs in the top 10, and probably the top 6. But they have Russell Westbrook, who is averaging 13 points on 37% shooting for a team o pace for about 6 wins, above Greg Oden, which, say what you want about Oden, is absolutely ridiculous.
