Every time they hit a 3-pointer, we answer by missing one...

Super ugly lineup on for the Mavs right now:
Barea
Haluska
Novak
Cardinal
Mahinmi
...

Preseason - gotta see what you have in these guys...
EDIT: (apparently nothing but bricks!)

Yep.
its either...
"Barea to the basket" -> *easily swatted into the third row*
"Novak for three" -> *clank*
...or (my personal favorite)
"Cardinal launching a desperation three pointer" -> *nothing but air*
So much for our so called extremely deep roster...

Cardinal hits a bunch of 3's in a game a few days ago and suddenly all the fringe players are trying to bomb their way onto the roster... Good luck, fellas!

The Mavs have to have Roddy be on the court. If the Mavs rely on Terry and Barea for offense... it will be another long year.
Watching Terry try to play well (especially in the playoffs) is like watching Cerrano try and hit a curveball.

Guys, the game was basically even at the half. We played our bench, they played their starters. They blew us out. That's not really all that surprising. What's up with all the pessimism?

Terry 1-10, Butler 5-13. WHo's our second scorer?

Actually, that was Novak. He can actually shoot them unlike scrubs like Haluska. Cardinal is historically a solid three point shooter, but he's been underwhelming in that department thus far.

This was one of the saddest examples of a preseason game that I can remember. Not that they lost but how they lost. The whole game seemed to be a waste of time.
Terry, Butler, and Jones were the saddest group on the floor. They just seemed to pass the ball around the horn to each other and then take a shot. Their was not penatration or movement without the ball. Jones seems to have a thing about passing the ball to Dirk. Both in this game and the last their were times when Dirk was uncovered and he would look at him and pass the the ball around the horn to someone else. It seems like he is trying to freeze him out. When you have a line up like Butler, Terry and Jones who are not penatrating and creating ball movement the best option is to pass it to Diri who will return it as he is doubled. That creates openings. That was not happening and Dirk just seemed to get more out of sync as the game wore on. The announcers even mentioned it early on. This whole thing makes me wonder about Jones and what he will do to the chemistry. I haven't given up yet on Butler. With the right line up he might work out. Terry is Terry nothing new, but Jone's I am getting a bad feeling about him. I hope I am wrong. I don't think is about ability but additude.
Say what you will about JJB. It was when he came in that the team came back before the half. He provided the ball movement that was missing before he came in. He also took it to the hoop and did some scoring. This is what value he could have to the team. Right now he seems to be the only guard who can actually break down the D off the dribble . Boy do we need Roddy to come back soon. Take Kidd off the floor and those other three- CB,DJ and Terry are worthless. Kidd may not be able to break down the D but at least he creates movement by knowing when and whom to pass the ball to.
I can understand why RC might want to work on some things during the pre-season but what was he thinking. How long did it take him to realize that the Terry, CB,DJ line up was not going to work in this game or in any other game in the near future. They are too much alike and provide nothing but negative reinforcement to each other. None of them are play makers and each prefers to shoot before they pass. The only passer on the floor was Dirk and he seldom had the ball in his hands. If RC was going to screw around like that he should have sat Dirk also. This game was a waste of his time.
I fear it might be worse this year than it was last year. With RC spending more than half the season trying to discover a line up that works. He is really a slow study and it takes him a long time to see the obvious.

In this game it was the bench that evened the score at the half and the starters that stunk it up and gave up the big lead. In the second half the game was out of reach before the bench even became a factor. Fortunately the starters in this game won't be starting in the regular season.

If those stats, in one preseason game against a team with the best defensive player in the league, prove that they can't be a second scorer, then I guess Dirk can't be our first scorer because he only went 2-6. Its one game! And I thought we've been saying all along Roddy was going to help huge in that department? He's been out.

Clearly, the game was not out of reach, because it was even at the half. Care to explain that one?
I can't tell if you're being serious, but no, these starters won't start. We have Kidd and Marion (off the bench), who both sat, and we have Roddy. So why do we have to look at this game and say that it is a direct implication on our regular season play?

Meh, it's preseason....BUT Haywood was terrible. Maybe he's saving it all for the regular season, but I'm not seeing a big talent gap between him and Chandler.

I feel sorry for dirk. There seem to be some solid guys on the team but this mix is gonna flop! as almost everyone expects.

we need to see what we've got in Roddy first before we hit the panic button. if he can provide consistent penetration and three point shooting then that makes everyone else alot better: more open looks, more free throws, better spacing. if Caron and/or Jet are knocked down the totem pole to options 3a & 3b we'll all feel alot better about things.
so if Roddy can be a Montae Ellis type for us(with better passing and defense)things could get interesting. Roddy is potentially exactly what we need, especially if he can fulfill his defensive potential anytime soon.
i think Caron is gone at the deadline. im sure everyone by now knows he's not a fit and has slipped a little. interested to see what we can get for him(and possibly Chandler/Dojo/Deshawn). again, we wont be the only team with expiring contracts but few teams have 2 quality players expiring to offer as well as young talent.

You guys are pretty doomsday considering we've only watched a few preseason games.
NO ONE in the league has gone as full-out as Orlando in the preseason and it was 2-point game as long as we had our normal players in. zomg One of the best teams in the league's starters owned our backups... so gloomy.

What these few preseason games have done is remove the last desperate hope that we weren't really going to enter the season pinning out hopes on the possibility that Roddy B can leap into the role of 2nd franchise player. The reason that hope was last and was desperate is that we've had much more than a few games to watch Butler and Terry fail at that and much more than a single preseason to watch the FO fail to bring someone in for that role.

I'm not "all sky is falling" from a pre-season game. It's a mere reaffirmation of an accumulative series of events from a pretty extended period of time(not sure you noticed from behind the rosebushes ).
