I've done some investigating of myself and several Orlando fans on different sites also claim seeing the news report. Face it boys, Orlando has matched and Gortat is not coming. Kind of a dick move by Otis Smith, I'm sure Mavs' management will be quite pissed at this development. Either way, it's not the end of the world.

I think this is a terrible idea for the magic. A player like this might be worth the money in a vacuum, but he isn't worth it when he's a backup, when he's probably discontent, when irregardless of trades there will be years of financial handcuffing.

Have fun with that. The mavs can use their money and find 2 solid rotation players and work out something for a trade. The perks of supporting a team that knows how to stay competitive every year and plan for the future.

I think its funny-- Orlando trolls coming here to tell us with certainty that Gortat will sign there based on dubious, late-night reporting,

...and somehow getting Gortat makes Orlando a champ when they couldnt win with Gortat last year. Gortat is a nice player, especially for a team without a solid center rotation, but seriously he's not a championship maker.

If the Magic are matching, there remain several solid and potentially gettable centers out there: Dalembert, Chandler, and Camby to name a few. If you're looking for frontcourt help more generally, the Jazz are pretty desparate to get rid of Boozer, Hollins remains a restricted FA, and unless Bass has signed on the dotted line - and I've not seen it reported that he has - there's always the possibility of turning the tables on the Magic and beating their offer to him so that we don't lose an asset. Plus, the Mavs would retain their MLE, which could still prove useful.

I saw that too! Apparently Cuban purposefully violated the CBA in getting him and to the entire trade is negated including Orlando's trade exception, plus the MAvs lose their next 3 first rounders (2011, 2012, and 2013)
