I'm assuming Bentil has been let go -- any word on Cook getting picked up for another 10 days (or longer)? He looked like a D-Leaguer at first, but started to catch on little by little... Wondering if he's worth an extended look.

I would re-sign him for sure. I'll have my people contact him if you agree.

They are 13-7 without him. I hope he plans to not play much.

False correlation... Barea was never the reason we were a bad team. He averaged 12/5/3 over 18 games, putting him on pace for a career season (while playing through injuries).
We struggled early because D-Will/Wes/Barnes/Dirk/Bogut was a garbage starting lineup, then everyone got injured. Most of our players were new so they didn't have time to jel.
Barea is going to come off the bench playing the same role as Yogi... No worries.

We actually really need him. Games will get tighter and we need a guy that knows when to get in the lane, push the pace, get Noel/other guys involved etc. Cook can move on or hang out on the bench.

Don't agree with the overall ranking, def think coach C is top 3. But the panel is giving him some credit regardless. Record definitely plays into the ranking and Mavs are surrounded by contenders in the top 10. Probably the only team that's going to miss the playoffs. Next team with a similar record in MIN on 13.

Yeah, there's certainly a healthy dose of "what have you done for me lately" in these rankings, so #5 seems about right (even though I could easily make an argument for Carlisle being ranked higher than anyone on that list except for Pop).

Tony Romo to be honored as 'Maverick for a day'
Quote:
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been talking for days about signing "a pass-first point guard." ESPN has learned that he's been referring to longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The Mavericks, according to league sources, intend to make Romo "a Maverick for a day" and have him in uniform and on the bench for Tuesday night's regular-season home finale against the Denver Nuggets.

@gwiss: I’ve never wanted anything more than I want a crazy foul situation requiring Romo to enter the game.
@KennyBybee: If this means the Rangers sign Dirk to suit up for one game then it’s totally worth it.

Nah, I think Romo being the "pass first PG" is pretty legit, seeing as how Cuban started talking about it shortly after Romo retired... Also, it doesn't really make any sense to bring in a new guy this late into the season. Hell, signing Uthoff was pushing it a bit.

It certainly wasn't all his fault, but he didn't exactly deliver in big moments either.

No he didn't..he was virtually perfect in the GreenBay game.. one of the very few times in which the Cowboys had a decent chance to make a run... so I guess he didn't deliver in that game.
I guess you could go back to the NYGiants game when the receiving corp lost the game with losing the ball in the sun..a huge key drop by Patrick Crayton..and Terry Glenn not finishing a route that would have been a TD..
Did he have his issues in a few games? Sure, all players do especially when you're carrying an abnormal amount of the load to compensate for other weaknesses. But the team around him was rarely good enough to advance in the playoffs.. When they were good enough to compete for the Super Bowl, it was usually something like a huge Patrick Crayton drop or a Demarco Murray fumble that cost them.

I'm so done if the Mavs draft Lauri and throw money at Holiday this summer.

Well good ole Mike Fisher says the Mavs don't think as highly about Monk or DSJ as other teams do. Could be a bunch of BS being blow out of his ass, but that could dim our hopes with the draft if true. That could mean Frank or bust.
He did say the Mavs liked Isaac a lot though, but I just can't see him falling to us.

Plan right now is to buy the $5 Summer League plan to see our young guys play and to drop League Pass Broadband. Only ended up watching 50-55 games last season and many of them I only watched to get my money's worth.
Now if we can get Fox, Smith, or Isaac, I may renew, but the plan now is to cancel all memberships and just catch a game or two if there's a decent stream.

This is a terrible lineup, but not because of Holiday. It's because of Wes at 3 and Barnes at 4. Wes needs to be coming off the bench at best and Barnes needs to be at SF.

We need Wes to be traded. That is the only way to ensure that Rick doesn't play him 35 mpg.

Even if the Mavs org is blowing hot smoke up Fish's butt, it still might be telling in the end.
And it wouldn't surprise me if they are high on Isaac.

New article on Mavs.com says they want to find a Dirk replacement-- PF that can spread the floor.

If the Mavs draft Markkanen, I'm rooting for GSW/CLE Finals until the NBA burns to the ground.

I'd rather them just trade down and draft someone like John Collins if they are serious about PF. You might be able to pick up a pretty good asset doing that.
But I'm confident Monk, Isaac, or Frank will be available at 9, so there really is no reason to worry.
Now, if they take Lauri over one of those three, then you can burn the house down.
