Can't reiterate enough how brutal this is for Dirk. Guy took a pay cut for this shit. I won't blame him for going back to Germany and leaving this revolting business behind. Players in the NBA represent the very worst of the current cultural climate. Narcissistic, ego driven, and devoid of honour.
May this league rot.

Reimburse? I'd happily pay money to witness that and indulge in a little bit of schadenfreude at the sight of Deandre Jordan clanging 60 free throws in a game and watch Chris Paul bitch him out the entire second half of the game.
That'd be a pretty funny bit.

Since we're operating on what is legal (albeit dishonorable) these days, I'm all for this!!

Yep. Just make a block party out of it with lots of video clips made just for the event. Cuban will make his money back for the free tickets by the 5-6 hours of beer sales.

It just reinforces dodging a bullet. We'd be stuck with that guy for 20 million a year. I know it sucks we missed out on all the good free agents, and tanking is inevitable. I'd still rather that than be stuck with a guy who was pretty much guaranteed to pull a Rondo. Better to spare us now.

I feel incredibly sad right about now. DJ you didn't have to ruin our offseason and the future of this franchise. Man, this one really hurts.

Me being a silver lining type of guy, Am I crazy for thinking we can still contend for an 8th seed? I mean stranger things have happened. Believe the unbelievable guys, it's not a death sentence. #gomavs

@IzGutierrez: Yo, DeAndre might've made the best decision for him, but he's gotta be looked at as a clown by the rest of the league. This is a joke.

Well he wouldn't even take a phone call from Cuban? He might have saved face if he had at least met with Cuban.

Kanter is still available and Thompson...I am not sure either helps us much but they could be long term help as well because they are young and skilled.

You may be an optimist, but you have no grasp of what happened in this offseason if you think we can make 8th seed with this roster against THIS WESTERN CONFERENCE. That's not optimism. That is stupidity.

Well, Jordan Hill is a nice tanking center. He is at least decent and would be better to watch than someone like Hibbert.

Ramona Shelburne: There’s an agent certification form that needs to be signed and notarized to make a contract valid, unless a player represents himself.
So DJ signs his own contract?
So basically, he'd rather ruin his reputation with every team owner in the league, every fan and every player just to feel loved by chris paul? Talk about unresolved daddy issues. This 7 foot beast couldn't lead a pack of ducklings across a road let alone an organization. What a freaking joke.

Mavs didn't seem to like scoring a lot which is why they traded for Rondo.

Funny. I'd say the same about you. Your total lack of ability to comprehend reality and/or follow what is going on with other teams has you making AWFUL decisions that would doom the team. This roster won't win 35 games even if they try and I'm a loser for thinking that it's better to shoot for Simmons (who may be the next KD) than shoot for .400?

If Jordan did this to us 5 days ago we might recover, but the FA market has dried up and we're currently a lot closer to playing for lottery balls than the 8th seed.

If we were in the eastern conference? Maybe. No chance in hell we will be anything close to a good team next season now.

Let's be real here. The 8th seed isn't a real option. The West all got better. OKC got healthy. Mavs got CONSIDERABLY worse. I'd be happy to get the 10th seed.
Then again the 10th seed is most likely getting an 8-15 pick, which would mean handing it over to the Celtics.

As justified as our rage against DJ is, let's not forget that it was Cuban that put us in this position of having our entire future hinging on the decision of this one 12ppg knucklehead. As noted above, this humiliation is almost a fitting end to the epic failure and 4 wasted years of Plan Powder.

Portland's out
I see the 9th seed will be on the verge of the playoffs with 42-45 wins. An injury to one of the top 8 and we're in

Can we hold off on the usual Mavs FO sucks its their fault they chased a mental midget for just one night? I just wanna drink my beer listen to some righteous brothers and have the biggest ice cream coma of my life while reading about how much the clipper suck... just one night please.

In no particular order here are the teams who will have a better record than us next year even if we try. Remember, we have no center and free agency has dried up. Chandler was our best player and the NBA practically demands a good center, good defense, and rebounding. We have none of that. We are going to be knocked around on the boards and we don't even have someone who can drive the lane.
SAS - Massively improved. Already superior.
HOU - Improved. Already better.
OKC - Finally got healthy
GSW - Stayed mostly the same, but swept us.
LAC - Stayed the same, dominated us.
PHO - Much improved. Already beat us last year.
POR - lost a lot, but still better
UTA - much improved. Over .500 to finish the year and got even better
NOP - Improved. Already better.
MEM - Much improved. Already significantly better
----------
SAC - Probably going to fall on their face, but if they can make Rondo work and Boogie keeps it up, they could dominate us as well.
Those are ten teams that are either guaranteed or very likely to be better than us next year.

I think there is some value in the FO criticisms. I mean, Donnie does go on and on about how the Mavs treat their players like "family" and yet more or less screwed Tyson Chandler twice by not paying him. We could have just kept Chandler who is 90% of the player Jordan is. I don't blame them for going after Jordan, but the penalty is harsh if you don't succeed.

What's even more depressing looking at this list is the fact all have a franchise player or someone with the potential to be. We literally have nothing to even look forward to.

Last night I was thinking about the few teams better than us.
Tonight I'm thinking about the few teams worse than us and how high we'll be in the draft.
We are paying dearly for the 15 years of success tonight.

Portland lost 4/5 starters. We'll be battling with them for the bottom.
Phoenix I dont think they are much improved. They shipped out players in the hopes of getting LMA. Wasted. Still better than Mavs though.
And Sacramento is better than us.

They are also playing video games inside DJ's house. One source who left the meeting said, "It's done. I wouldn't have left if it wasn't."
Seriously, video games. I knew when I was playing World of Tanks that I saw another tank running away. That you Jordan?

Sacramento may be better. Kings basically are unknowingly tanking each year. Don't forget they paid a lot to get Rondo while bidding against no one. Rondo-DMC-Karl will be very amusing.
If they can make different knuckleheads work together, they are better. But judging by history they'll be right were Mavs will be if Dallas is tanking.
