Maybe it'll take some time but I think Bane is going to be a terrific player in time.
He really reminds me a lot of former Bucks player Michael Redd.
Also I live in Arizona so I watched a lot Josh Green.
I think either one of those two guys with patience can eventually be a better two way player than Dinwiddie.
Having said that I know Donnie said the Mavs are in win now mode but i wouldn't trade that 18th pick for Dinwiddie if either one of those guys can be had.
Trey Burke is a very underrated player here IMO and if he's used like Dinwiddie you can get close to the same production right?

Yup.
You don't get your 2011 championship if you turn down your nose at talent. If we turned down Terry, because he was small and not particularly talented defensively, we don't have a trophy.

I absolutely would not trade #18 for Dinwiddie who doesn’t bring a skill set we need. He’s not a defensive stopper. He’s not a great shooter. He really is just a Jalen Brunson upgrade.

Agreed. I like Dinwiddie but this team has limited resources. I'm not using the one resource I have on him but if he's the only thing we can get then we can do a lot worse. I think the Nets have to hold on to him though if they are serious about getting Harden. I can't imagine getting Harden without giving up Dinwiddie and Levert.

He is but I don't think he'd start for us I think he'd come off the bench for us. He would allow for us to sit Luka at the beginning of games.

Why do you think we'd trade for a starter just to bench them? I literally don't understand.

Same reason we traded for Jason Terry. He wouldn't start but he'd still log about 28-30 minutes a game. He'd be out there in the 4th quarter of games. Personally, I'd start Brunson and that way when we sit Luka at the beginning of games we don't have to worry about conceding leads.

@townbrad I'm told report of Gallinari S&T to Mavs not accurate, at least not as of 4:31 p.m. Long evening and many possibilities ahead.

The Mavs and the Thunder are discussing a trade that would send Danilo Gallinari to Dallas in a sign-and-trade and the 18th pick to OKC, per sources.

I find that hard to believe based on what the Thunder just got for Danny Green...

Not sure I give up 18 for Gallinari. Does that make me crazy?
I know other teams are paying bonkers prices, but that doesn't mean the Mavs have to.

That confused me. The concept of a sign and trade ASSUMES that the player was asked

It's Sacramento. They aren't known for player relationships lol.

Could be also that they just want to cover their asses regarding the tampering

Well we are pretty damn far from having Tyson and Marion too...also Stevenson. So some perspective helps there. Terry wasn't even a constant starter.

I'd rather have Hayward than Gallo. At least he's a 2 way player. We bench DFS for Gallo and have a potential offense but by default, every team we play has one too. More career nights for random bench opponents.

Idk who Brunson replaces in our back court. I wouldn't start him for any of these guys and I like Burke better tbh.
Luka

For 18? Not a chance. He's not even as good as THJ imo. If you take all of THJ athleticism away, you basically have Bogdan no?

Yea. Same here but I can't see that they keep the pick. I just hope we don't draft him for someone else and the trade is announced. Insult to injury. Unless its C Wood or maybe hayward

None reliable so far. Just wondering if someone like Oubre or Bogdan is actually worth the 18th pick. I'd rather them than old hat Gallinari though.

All three are worth more than the 18th pick. People are massively overrating what you typically get at 18. You're usually lucky to get a guy that can play in a 10 man rotation.

It's that type of thinking that the mavs have never taken the draft serious beyond luka and dirk.
What happens if Bane turns into the next Michael Redd?
The Spurs repeatedly found key rotation players or starters late in the draft because their scouting was serious.
I bet some of you felt the same way about Giannis back then it was just another mid 1st round pick.
You may be right but the problem is the mavs nnever seem to take the draft serious and if they trade that 18th pick for guys like Dinwiddie, Gallo or Lou Williams I think in 2-3 years they are going to regret it.

Ha thought I was in the minority. I really don’t want Gallinari. Maybe 5 years ago.

I'd be borderline pissed if we got fn Bogdan for 18. Hes a good player but we can definitely do better and the MBT will.

That's the problem. The Mavs aren't good at drafting players unless it is early in the draft and since they aren't, they should recognize that weakness. And address their strength which is identifying talent already in the NBA that Carlisle will get to play his scheme

This is about Giannis now...not Bogdan. Should show Giannis just how many players want to play in Milwaukee.
Maybe it's nothing and he still signs the extension, but...
