To do it they must have a guarantee from Giannis.

In that case I think that improves our draft prospects providing we don't trade the pick.
I don't think we will.

Bogdonavic to Milwauke via sign and trade. Yep, Giannis is staying.

If you're talking about 2021 free agents, I think they like Hayward a lot.
But, I'm not sure what to expect. Part of me thinks the opportunities will be better with the space (and not just signing free agents) than anything that's out there now, and part of me is screaming "GET HIELD" inside.
It must be really difficult to be a GM.

UGH!
I swear to god, I was just looking at the 2021 free agents list and thinking, "god that would suck so bad if it ended up being someone like Hayward."

Hayward is still a really good player. But yeah, not exactly what we were hoping for.

I think they toyed with a sign and trade for him THIS year, tbh. I have heard that they like him, he likes them and wants to be here. That's where all the opt out talk came from. Dallas didn't want to pay him his number (he wants Horford money) because of Giannis (assumed) and so he has been weighing an offer from Atlanta against opting in and getting traded wherever the hell Boston wants to send him for weeks.
SO...if all of that is true, raising the offer for him and negotiating a sign and trade with Boston is very likely to get another look from the Mavs tomorrow.
Brace yourself.

Yeah, if healthy, he'd fit like a glove. But, he has been off of fans' radars ever since he signed in Boston and started getting hurt, so I wouldn't think it would be very popular.

I have no doubt that he can still play, but we need wing defenders BADLY. And some f**king athleticism wouldn't hurt either.

I hear you. I just think they're way more focused on adding a second player who can drive and make plays to pair with Luka. That's literally all Donnie or Carlisle ever talk about..."secondary playmaker"..."take pressure off of Luka"...etc.
I feel like they believe this should be done BEFORE they spend on role players, so as not to paint themselves into any corners, fit wise.
But, then again, I've got buddies who strongly believe this whole off season is about trading up in the draft to get a guy they think might be a "star."
I honestly don't know what to expect now that Giannis is off the board. I just hope they don't panic and do something stupid.

It's superficial and reductive, I know, but I do feel like adding Hayward or Gallo would officially bring in a bunch of "why do they only like white guys in Dallas" questions from NBA twitter. lol.

Well that was fun while it lasted. For like six hours, I really thought we were gonna have a shot at Giannis.
That's bad enough, but I always figured that if we couldn't get Giannis, Holiday would be a very nice consolation prize.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to walk into oncoming traffic.

Hayward is a solid wing defender. Not as athletic as he used to be but a good rebounder too. I’m not disagreeing with you. I’d prefer someone even more athletic and even better defensively. Of course if you combined that with Hayward’s skill level you’d have an NBA player.

I’m all aboard the secondary playmaker bandwagon. Our biggest need imho. I think between Maxi and DFS and whoever we draft and sign with MLE we can cobble together a pretty good defensive wing rotation for next season, and maybe more if we strike lucky in the draft and MLE.

And I agree, Killer Left, about panic moves. No need to rush out and push in our chips. This season will be weird for every team. KP and Powell working back from injuries. Go for the next player on your board. Worst case, we have MLE and two nice picks incoming.

1) We have no cap space
2) We have like 13 guys on the roster. 14 if we are planning on re-signing JJB too so we don't even have a place for our two picks this year.
3) Our guys we do have largely have a negative value
4) The only money we have for FAs is the MLE
Mt expectations are pretty low.

Good move for the Hornets, they'll at least be relevant in the East with Westbrook + whatever the Rockets give up to unload him + James Wiseman.

I don't know man....Russell Westbrook would probably be the best player to ever step foot there. Actually I know he will. Sucks they can't get someone that's not a guard since they have Rozier and Graham but beggars can't be choosers.

That’s what I meant. Use the MLE if a guy(s) you like is there. Don’t make panic trades with future firsts and salaries for a some geezer.

Wow big price to pay by Philly to offload Horford and that contract.

The Kings and Milwaukee Bucks had hoped to bring Bogdanovic the framework of a sign-and-trade to negotiate a Bodanovic contract with Milwaukee on Friday, but he will move into the marketplace to find an offer sheet or seek out other sign-and-trade scenarios, sources said.

Sacramento Kings forward Bogdan Bogdanovic plans to enter restricted free agency on Friday at 6 PM ET, sources tell ESPN.
