I mean, McGee isn't great, but we needed another big more than anything else IMO. And no Powell starting is always a big win.

Our defense and rebounding is now better with Wood and McGee. Need ball bouncers who can score some now.

Tommy Beer: Brian Windhorst reports, on ESPN?s Free Agency special, that Kyrie Irving is ?focused? on joining the Lakers, adding, ?Kyrie to the Lakers is very much back alive.? ? via Twitter TommyBeer
With what? They're not trading AD or Lebron, Nets don't want Westbrook, they have no picks.

The Mavericks declined to offer Brunson a contract extension before the season, then pitched a $106 million deal, according to a source. But they never got another chance. Word of Brunson?s firm commitment to the Knicks leaked about an hour before free agency started, backing up the sentiment from earlier this week that this partnership was fait accompli. ? via Stefan Bondy @ New York Daily News
Marc Stein: As for Jalen Brunson ? sources briefed on Dallas? scheduled NYC meeting today say: *Meeting canceled by Brunson?s representatives *Dallas told money not be a deciding factor because of Brunson?s determination to sign with Knicks *Mavs did not formally present an offer today ? via Twitter TheSteinLine

Committing to a team an hour before free agency is tampering, plain and simple. I know all teams do it, but Knicks are caught red handed here.

As a reminder, the Houston Rockets own Brooklyn?s:
2023 first round pick (swap rights)
2024 first round pick
2025 first round pick (swap rights)
2026 first round pick
2027 first round pick (swap rights)
The Nets were also kind enough to leave all of them unprotected.

Think the Rockets picks going to OKC in the Westbrook deal....unless it's 1-4.

...and he got 4-110 from the Knicks.
How is this not tampering.....an hour before the opening of free agency:

Yup, they should do something about that, if you demand a trade, your contract drops 50%, and you are restricted to sign 1 year deals the rest of your career....because you cannot honor your commitment.

Mavs will have a hold on their cap for Jaden Hardy but can use the full TPMLE of $6.5m.

34 year old big man, probably average 15-20 minutes a night. Hopefully he can deter those paint runs that Powell couldn't erase.

Free agent guard Jalen Brunson has agreed to a four-year, $104 million deal with the New York Knicks, his agents Aaron Mintz and Sam Rose of @CAA_Basketball tell ESPN. The deal includes a player option on the final season.

No shit. The league really needs to do something here.
Either actually enforce the rules, or better yet, get rid of the waiting period. Seriously, you can apparently negotiate trades with other teams while the playoffs are still happening, why can you not negotiate with free agents?

Pros:
-Jaden Hardy
-Christian Wood
-Javale McGee
-Dragic
-Dinwiddie in system from camp
-THJ coming back
-Green with an off-season to work on his game instead of national team commitments
-fired up Luka from off-season of people talking about how no one wants to play with him
Cons:
-Brunson
-perception with players
Yeah I think we?re good.

Chicago got Drummond for 2/6.6. See that's why it's a little irritating that we had to pay 20 to get Javale.

Tap I would respectfully challenge the assertion that 25 to 30 a year would handicap us. This is not a hard cap league when signing your own player and there is plenty of room to flip players/trade players when playing in the luxury tax zone. Very truly yours...

The problem is, Hardy, Green, and Dragic are all unknowns. BEST CASE SCENARIO, all those guys work out for us, then yeah, we're good. But we have literally no idea what any of them will be next year. Dragic isn't even a Maverick yet, so let's tap the breaks.

Losing Brunson for nothing sucks but I'd rather do that then pay him 26m a year, especially if we have Dinwiddie and I rly like Hardy's future upside for down the road.

Is he $14 million dollars better? I think Drummond is the better rebounder, and probably scorer. Javele has more length and shot blocking/shot altering ability though I think.
I?d probably rather have Drummond at his price if it meant spending bigger money on a wing. Oh well Javele will have a role on this team.

Disagree - Javel is exactly center we need. Can finish. Rebound / block shots and play d. I?ll pay 6 mil a year for that no problem.

We?ll have a pretty big starting lineup if McGee starts.
In fact the shortest player currently on roster is Hardy at 6?4.
Rebounding shouldn?t be a problem this season.
Luka 6?7
THJ/SD 6?6
DFS 6?7
Wood 6?10
McGee 7?0
