I'm SOOO hopeful that they'll replace Feldman before Saturday. It will be my first game to attend all year and my nephew's first game EVER.

I am making a rare appearance at the ballpark tomorrow. It's a fine opportunity to start THINKING about shoveling the first dirt on the Angels season. Bury them.
They've got SO FAR to go though. Take at least 2 games of this series though...at least. Por favor.

Man, how great would it be if he chose to stay in Texas for less money? Maybe he'll form a bond with our guys and enjoy being in the closest MLB city to his home...

fool, you be dreamin. If they're gonna get that guy to stay, they are going to have to back up the brinks truck.

This is why I would be interested in a Ryan/Greenburg/Cuban ownership team.
With this type of financial backing, it would be reasonable to expect Lee/Hamilton and Vlad to sign and be back next year...
Until then, let's just enjoy this season for what it is...It's Time

CJ was awesome tonight no walks in eight impressive innings. It's time has a new ring to it.

I totally agree. 5 walks, despite the end result, is not a huge confidence booster. The 0 walks, even though he struck out merely 3, makes me feel a lot better about the next time he pitches. And even the strike outs, they were at timely moments on 3-2 counts and he absolutely overmatched the hitters on all three of them, it seemed like. There was no quantity, but the quality of the strikeouts (and of course, of all his pitches the entire game, dealing on the outside edge and hitting inside enough to keep the hitter guessing) was way up there.

Well, at least they covered up your face with the scorebug ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif) . That's bad ass though.
Here's CJ on Cliff Lee from after the game tonight. I thought this was really cool:
Quote:
[Regarding Cliff Lee's start last night]: Wilson took mental notes from the dugout.
“We acquired Cliff so he would win games, but we also acquired Cliff because he would make everybody else better and that’s been the big thing for me,” Wilson said. “I’ve been watching his videotapes for two years now and now having him here and being able to actually talk to him and find out the methods behind his approach are already having an effect.”
|
The best part is that he calls them "videotapes."

White Sox are winning another ring this year. Especially if they add a bat. Easily the best team in the majors since they got their shit together.

Hamilton WILL be back next year. If this thing is still in bankruptcy court, he will still be back. Nolan Ryan was being about as dishonest as it is possible for a front office guy to be without downright lieing when he intimated that hamilton might not be back for financial reasons. I dont blame him for using that as a ploy, but dont be fooled by it.

Actually, they are. I'm a huge White Sox fan, so I actually watch the games. They sure were "solid" enough to sweep the Angels AT LA and take 2 of 3 from the "vaunted" Rangers AT Texas, and sweep the Braves. Oh, not to mention they have THE best record in baseball since early June. 30-9 in their last 39 games.
Their staff, even with Peavy out, is sick. Danks, Floyd, MB and Garcia all have sub 2.50 ERA's since June. Floyd's is sub 2.00.
They have a great bullpen in Thornton, Putz and Santos (the former 2 can replace Jenks as closer if he doesn't get his shit together).
The only weakness is hitting Kotsay/Jones at DH. Like I said, if they get a legit bat via trade, I'd put money on them winning the series. Again.

I can't believe the Rangers are calling up Teagarden. I know their other options are terrible defensively, but good grief, Tea has been awful at AA the past few months. He's going to be the worst hitter in the majors, at this point.
*sigh*
Thank God for the Molina trade.

That is why winning the first two was so important...

Losing a scooter feldman start is understandable if you lose 10-8.
But this isn't on him. The Rangers offense is now officially in the doldrums. The Angels pitching staff has their number, me thinks.

I actually disagree a little here. Rangers could have won 2-0 if we had another Lee?

Any win that the pitcher doesn't pitch a QS is technically on him.

Edit- you also are wrong about their record over their last 39. They are 31 and 15 since june 1 while the rangers are 31 and 17. Also the rangers are 5-4 vs the sox this year.
The White Sox have a good rotation and its actually fairly similar to the rangers. That said, you only have 2 good hitters(Konerko and Rios). You arent anywhere near the favorites to win the world series with 2 good hitters especially when neither one of them is mvp level.
