The Spurs repeatedly found key rotation players or starters late in the draft because their scouting was serious.
I bet some of you felt the same way about Giannis back then it was just another mid 1st round pick.
You may be right but the problem is the mavs nnever seem to take the draft serious and if they trade that 18th pick for guys like Dinwiddie, Gallo or Lou Williams I think in 2-3 years they are going to regret it.

If you get a Michael Redd level player at 18 you got extremely lucky. But Dallas is in a win now mode. If you can get a legitimate upgrade right now for a pick that may or may not be able to crack the rotation in their first few seasons you do it. The last 10 players taken at 18 are Goga Bitadze, Lonnie Walker, TJ Leaf, Henry Ellenson, Sam Dekker, Tyler Ennis, Shane Larkin, Terrence Jones, Chris Singleton, Eric Bledsoe. So one in ten was worth anything and Bledsoe didn't start performing at a starting level until his 4th year on his second team. Your odds of bettering the team with any of the guys discussed in this thread are far greater than they are if you are banking on a long shot player.

People have definitely mentioned Bogdan for 18. Which is not a good move and won't happen.
I still refuse to give any emotion toward Giannis. Its it happening. If he wanted to be here there would be more than what we have heard thus far....which is nothing.

I'm looking at this from a Mavs POV...not mine. You know damn well they will live in that delusion as long as the window is open.

You could get the next Michael Redd, or at 18 you could be drafting T.J. Leaf or Goga Bitadze (last years 18th pick). Sometimes teams just get lucky with their draft picks.

If Deni falls out the top 10 should the mavs aggressively try trade up for him?

That's a good pick for the Knicks but I don't know if that's a good fit but who knows what they do with all of those 4's.

Mavs might get a real steal at 18 the way the draft is going. Hope for Bey!

If Bey falls...that's the type of guy I don't trade the pick for. I'd keep it at that point.

Sometimes fit doesn’t matter. Take BPA. Figure out the rest later.

Minnesota is acquiring Oklahoma City's Ricky Rubio, the 25th and 28th picks for a package that includes the No. 17 pick, sources tell ESPN.

Sources: Minnesota is selecting Aleksej Pokusevski with the No. 17 pick in the NBA Draft — going to OKC. Isaiah Stewart went No. 16.
