I would much rather have just paid Brunson, but it sounds like the Mavs didn't even have the chance, so I guess I can't be mad at them- other than for not extending him months ago, but whatever. It is what it is.
As for Hardy... yes, I'm just crossing my fingers hoping to god that he turns out to be this amazing sleeper for us. Because the way things are right now, I don't really see a path forward to surrounding Luka with the talent needed to win a title unless we get insanely lucky- like if Hardy turned out to be a star. Or even just a starter. For us to put another star next to Luka, I feel like one has to fall out of the sky, because we're never getting one in free agency and we don't have the assets to trade for one either.

The problem is we're still at the salary cap WITHOUT Brunson, so if nothing else we could have used Brunson as a trade chip later. Instead we lose him for nothing.

I have a feeling Hardy could become an impact player sooner if given the opportunity early on.
One of the main reasons it wouldn?t bother me if we don?t sign Dragic.

My argument was that I?d rather have Drummond at $3million over Javele at $6.6 million or whatever it is. I don?t hate the Javele signing. We needed a big that does what Javele?s skill set provides.

Well I'll say this....McGee offers more to what the Mavs need than Drummond does. Drummond is not really a shot blocker or contester. He does rebound well. I'm really shocked by the perception of Drummond though. He's not a bad player. I get the league has gone away from centers like him but for 20 minutes a night? you can do far worse.

I?d probably rather have Drummond at his price if it meant spending bigger money on a wing. Oh well Javele will have a role on this team.

Yeah I can get behind him being a better fit but 14 million better? Hell no. Hell I think Drummond is a better player but McGee is a better fit.

A little positivity after today's shitshow. Luka was phenomenal today against Croatia. That's to be expected of course. But apparently, so was Dragic
Quote:
Rumored Mavericks free-agent target Goran Dragic starred in his return to action for Slovenia. The 36-year-old guard went off for 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 21.9 minutes of action. Dragic shot eight of 16 from the field, and he looked fantastic in the victory.

Can we please get this guy signed already?

Great article regarding Javale. He was beloved in PHX for good reason. I think he's a great pickup.
https://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2...doctor-ordered
Luka - Dragic? - Ntlikina
DFS - Dinwiddie - Pinson
Bull - THJ - Green - Hardy
Wood - Kleber - Bertans
McGee - Powell

Javale is going to be worth the difference in cost vs Drummond, hands down. Drummond would be on skates on switches and he gets lost more than Brunson did on defense. Javale is more capable on switches because of his agility and athleticism. At 34/35 he can still move exceptionally well.

I'm all for Dragic in this situation. I wasn't dying for him last season when the rumors of him being release started but now we really could use him for all the reasons folks have mentioned before.
If Hardy is going to be playing, Dragic and Luka are really good to watch uo close and soak up all the reads.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. McGee did get a 3 year deal vs 2 for Drummond. Javele fits out needs more than Drummond does.

Ayo are y'all really thinking Drummond is the better player?!
Have you watched him at all in recent years? The guy is a fantastic rebounder and that's about it. He gets most of his point production from put backs and chippy shots after rebounds. Guy is absolutely terrible at defense and has stone hands.
McGee provides everything he does, but adds switchable defense, shot blocking, and excellent PNR skills. Keep Drummond far from this team and how the Mavs play lol

Also, fucking LOL at the contracts handed out to KAT and Zion. The latter hasn't even earned it and their banking on his fat ass staying healthy and in the gym. Both are dwarfing what Luka will be making and I'd be sick to my stomach if the tables were turned.
$56MM a year for KAT!!!! HAHAHAHAHAH

I know it?s been rumored the Nets don?t want Ayton, but I hope he signs a contract with someone else just so PHX can?t potentially include him in a deal for Durant.
I also don?t understand rumors that KD and Kyrie still want to play together? Why are they both wanting to leave then? I kinda wish Brooklyn would just say tough shit if you want to be traded to KD. You signed a 4 year contract.

Bruce Brown to Denver on a VERY friendly deal. Would have preferred him to Javale honestly, but you can?t teach size.

And for anyone wondering about the power of Rick Brunson over Jalen...
https://twitter.com/townbrad/status/1542882235669532672
The fault is letting daddy manage you like that. Proposing a deal that wasn't even allowed in the CBA certain adds a layer to this mess.

I know Nico was part of the FO when that expired, but hopefully he can utilize this one. Hate seeing those assets just go to waste. Certainly someone will become available that can make us better, or at least get a pick for a salary dump.

Appearing this morning on ESPN?s ?KJM,? Brian Windhorst cited a ?high-90% chance? that the Nets will honor Durant?s trade request and said any deal involving Kyrie Irving will have to wait until Durant is moved. Irving only wants to go to the Lakers, but that means the Nets would have to take Russell Westbrook, who makes about $11MM more than Irving, and working out other compensation for Brooklyn won?t be easy. ? via Hoops Rumors
I get players should get to choose where they want to play, but in this case Kyrie shouldn?t have opted in if that?s the case. I know the huge money difference, but if he opted in he shouldn?t have a say in where he goes. Unfortunately it appears the Lakers are the only team that wants him.

Reject the signing. Strip the 1st rounder from the Knicks. Give us a 1st rounder after the lottery. There are things the NBA can do to remedy things.

Agreed. I like what Javale offered last year. I think they are making a mistake starting him however. He had a better 48 minute production coming off the bench than starting.

Yup. One of the players going to the Pacers is Daniel Theis. Mavs should attempt to get in on the action and trade Powell for Theis. RC would love it, Theis is German, and I hear that he loves to watch movies. So, Cuban would still have a bud.
