I think his coming up will depend on when Kinsler gets healthy, because right now, Arias is the only backup IF we have, but he'd make the most sense to be sent down. We don't have any in-between AAA-MLB relief pitchers on the staff right now. Moscoso and Eyre was send back down a while ago, and Madrigal just got optioned so Frankie could come back.

Think the broadcast just said that he's in the bullpen tonight.

Feliz is indeed active. Because Jamey is doing the whole Newberg Report Night (which is great if you can go to it; I've been to two of them and they were great fun) he can't keep us updated. Kinsler and Jason Grilli to the DL; Feliz and Mathis called up, I think. Harrison to the 60-day DL to make room for Feliz on the 40.

Correct.

The first 2 camera angles, I thought Wilson (the batter) fouled it. The last angle, I thought he didn't. Impossible to tell, I think. Just have to trust the ump...he has the benefit of sound, and I guess he didn't hear the baseball hit the ball.

Wilson didn't foul it because the umpire said he didn't.
(man, it's great to say that when you're on the right side of a call)

My initial reaction was that it was fouled.. And I concur that the last replay made me believe otherwise. So, I'm really not sure. Great game by the pitchers all the way around.

The cool part is that on replay we couldn't tell so diverting to the ruling on the field is doable.
How many times have we, the fan, seen plays in any sport in which we could easily tell that the call on the field/court/rink was WRONG, but the official stood his/her ground with the initial call. For all of those, it's nice to see a call that I can't and thus have to support the ump...and by the way, my team received the benefit of the doubt.
By the way the Rangers have 27 games left in August...if they can get to 16-11 in those games, they will be 20 games over .500 and most likely put them in a great position to make a serious run to close out the season. Do you believe the Rangers can and will hit the 20 game mark to close out August?
If so, could they push in September to reach 95 wins and possible finish 28 games up...and no doubt make the post-season?
At the end of the day, this season is exceeding any and all expectations...thus making it one of the more memorable seasons in Rangers history!!!

My goodness. Feliz just struck out the side in his major league debut, hitting 100 on the radar with his last pitch.

Are we sure that that 90 mph whatever-the-hell-it-is is a changeup?

yep. Perfect changeup is 8-10 mph slower than your fastball. fastball at 98-101 changeup at 90-91.
My ranger pants are going crazy.

What a sad situation in Oakland for baseball. There's nobody there. Pretty soon ACORN will be giving homeless people cigarettes to come watch the A's play.

yeah the place is like a cemetery. I'm not sure if you heard them say earlier in the game, but this is nowhere near the lowest attended game for Oakland in its history. One game brought in 865 people, and the game was horrible to make it worse. LOL

You know...Feliz and Nippert had things under control and now Eddie can't throw a strike and Frankie's throwing 11 pitches to one batter....

Does Nippert remind anyone else of what Brandon McCarthy is supposed to be?

The Angels score 13 runs every night and the Rangers score 2.
To blame this on CJ Wilson would be comedy, in my eyes.
Score some damn runs.

The Rangers got beat off two weakly hit ground ball singles due to defensive alignments, another ground ball that just found a hole, and a jam shot that was barely fair.
CJ didn't have his greatest stuff, but it wasn't awful. 95% of games, his stuff was good enough to get a save in that situation. And that effing 5% nails us in the ass.
I don't know who or what to blame here. Offense was crappy, but we faced some decent pitching, so I can give it a break if and only if it shows up in the rest of the series. Ron made the smart move, went R-R with O'Day then but our solid closer in to get 2 freaking outs. CJ blew it, but mostly by bad luck.
What a nightmare the post-All Star Break has been. We've played some of the best ball in franchise history and we're losing ground to the Angels, who have 6 players having career years on offense, light years ahead of their career averages.
Oh, and Cruz got injured. FML.

“It was absolutely luck. They didn’t hit any of those balls hard.”
Quote from CJ. I agree, although I think he could have shown a little more class. Then again, I never saw this quote in context.

Bummer 9th inning!!! But hey, the Rangers play another game tonight...I hope they plant a new memory tonight and that we all move on.
On a brighter note...what a debut for Feliz!!!
I believe he is the first pitcher since 1962 to strikeout the first 4 batters he faced in the Majors!!! If remains composed and handles whatever adversity will come his way...he will no doubt be one of the best that Baseball has ever seen...and to think, he's a Ranger!!! How freakin awesome is that?
Feliz, Andrus are the type of young players that get you excited about the organization, and for that matter, get perspective Free Agents interested in joining up with the Rangers!!! By the way, who did we get rid of in the trade to acquire these guys!!! Gotta give the GM credit for that deal!!!

It's hard when one of the hits was a routine roller to second base.. Arias just didn't attack the ball at all and allowed the lip of the infield/outfield to come into play... and another ball was a routine chopper hit to third that was a hit because Young was guarding the line and playing way back.
I'm not happy about the loss, but when you give up two soft infield hits..well, bad things can happen.

I can't say I blame Arias for his defense on that specific play. He was playing way back, and it would have been hard for him to charge that ball. Perhaps he could of, but he obviously risks misplaying it. If he lets it get to him on a hop, he has a higher percentage chance of making the play. Unless, of course, it hits the quarter inch difference where the grass meets the dirt, takes a high hop, hits him in the chest instead of going into the glove, thus making a throw in time impossible.
I almost wish there was someone to blame for this loss, but I don't think you can blame Arias for this. You can only blame a lot of bad luck strung together right in a row.

I watched the play again.. I think he could have been more agressive. I believe Omar would have been more agressive knowing that the lip of the grass could come into play.. but in the end, I don't really fault Arias much for it. It was just a bad hop.

fwiw....I was driving home late last night listening to the game when an 18 wheeler cut me off and slammed on his brakes. I slammed on my brakes and moved into the shoulder to avoid a potentially fatal collision just in time to hear Neftali Feliz's first pitch, "strike, fastball at 98 mph". So I if Feliz goes on to become a hall of famer I'll always remember what I was doing when he made his major league debut.
