Back to Hardy...Warriors played Poole 22 mpg his rookie year. His shooting percentages were terrible, but they stuck with him. Do the Mavs have that same patience?
It's a good lesson for people saying we aren't in a position to play a rookie big minutes...welp. You don't get today's Poole without playing him those minutes his rookie year.

I wonder if the Warriors even would have let him play that much if Thompson hadn't been out that entire year, though. It's a weird conundrum. If you want to win, you have to play your vets. If you do, you don't develop your young guys.
Same thing happened with Dirk. He came in and only put up 8pts, 3reb on 41% and 21% from three. If he was playing behind vets, he might never have developed but they just let him keep playing and now he's a HoFer.
That's kind of why I want the Mavs to just grab Dragic and be done. At some point, Dragic will have a sore back and we will need Hardy to come in and that could be his shot.

And this rings true if we had kept Brunson, but that position is wide open now.
And yes, I'm all for Dragic. Guess they are hoping something better lands for them? Who knows.

Marc Berman

Rick Brunson told confidants all season Jalen wanted to play for Knicks but concerned they couldn't open up cap space needed for a market-value offer. Jalen wasn't taking discount to play for Leon Rose, who is convinced Jalen is the winner/playmaker they need.

Yeah, our money didn't matter as long as the Knicks offer was decent. I'm convinced 5/125 doesn't change anything. Maybe 27-30 mil does, but do you want him at that point when it's only about the money?

I mean its all about the money for most of these guys. Maybe not for Dirk but for a lot of these guys this is the biggest pay day they'll get. Not everyone has the endorsement deals the stars have.

Really so weird to me I still can?t wrap my head around Jalen walking away 4 weeks after going to the western conference finals. This team was close and he was a big component of that

Its hard for us to fathom on the outside looking in but maybe there's something he didn't like? Or maybe he has no faith in this team to go any further than what they did last season..Or hell maybe he just wanted to play in NY. Not really sure what the deal is.

I really think that's it. Non-Knicks fans will always scream in confusion about how the Knicks are horrible and losers etc... I'm telling you though, they are still and always will be the league's marquee franchise. The allure for players is very, very real.

I think it is. I'm from Dallas but I love New York. Love everything about it. That aura is still there. Always will be. They may suck as a franchise and as a team but its still playing in the Garden.
If Luka wasn't here maybe the decision would've been harder for Brunson. And it may sound silly to some but maybe Brunson feels he can be Luka for the Knicks. HE can be their guy. Mavs couldn't offer him that. Hell even with Christian Wood...I was hoping Brunson slid to the 3rd or 4th option......

I mean he should know how this is going to play out. Its not going to end in his favor. He might as well leave now. He paid his dues. He doesn't owe that franchise anything. I had the same feelings about Dirk. Dirk didn't owe us anything. IF he had left us I would've understood.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are actively engaged in trade discussions centered on a Russell Westbrook-Kyrie Irving package, league sources tell @YahooSports: sports.yahoo.com/sources-lakers?
KD doesn't want to play with Russ again?

Was about to say the same thing. Nets caving because they want to get rid of Kyrie?s ass. I hate that these owners cave to the players demand.

I mean, who the F would give up anything of value for Kyrie at this point? The guy could retire at any minute. There has never been a more unreliable star in the history of basketball, maybe in the history of sports.

Agreed. He'll destroy the Lakers worse than WB.

I don't think Lebron would let that happen.

You know....his teammate Ben Simmons might give him a run for his money.

It had to be Russ to even match salaries. They weren't giving up Lebron or AD, and they don't have much else.
If it does happen, Russ and Ben Simmons will be hilarious.

Draft compensation is an ongoing talking point for the Nets and they want shooting guard Joe Harris ? who is recovering from left ankle surgery ? and his remaining $38.6 million owed over the next two years included in the deal, sources said. The T Lakers have been disinclined to the inclusion of Harris, and are instead seeking the insertion of sharpshooter Seth Curry as part of the arrangement, sources said. ? via Chris Haynes @ Yahoo! Sports
Nets need to stand their ground.

Boy this off-season is at a standstill now.
I wonder if the league is waiting for the KD and Kyrie situation to unfold.

After Shams' report on the Irving interest, if we trade for him, I will flip out, and not in a good way. I don't even think that's a risk at this point, that's a surefire disaster based on everything we know.

I'd only trade for Irving if I was truly desperate. Like say.... If I had RWB making nearly 50m.
Still don't understand why Nets are even entertaining this. I'd love if they just said... no we will pass on that thanks. If you want to go to the Lakers you can suck it up and play this year, if not you can just get fined for not playing... and walk ur happy ass there next year and let Lakers deal with whatever salary hoops they may or may not need to jump through to make it work or even if they want to at that point.
Those 3 jokers took a massive steaming dump on the nets organization(Kyrie, KD, and Harden). I'll make a trade if it gives me real tangible assets, like KD absolutely will. If my reward for dealing with Kyrie's bs is a year of 50m westbrick with Simmons- that's a hard pass.

Nets can't do this. They have to recoup something from their big 3 debacle. The picks they receive from the Lakers could be extremely valuable if Lebron walks to the Cavs after next season.

If we could get into it and get Seth Curry though...
I view Irving like I do RWB...clearing a boat load. salary after a year. Still rather gouge my eyes out, but I would at least look at it like that.

The Wolves also made several calls to Brooklyn on Kevin Durant, sources said, but the Nets were asking for established All-Stars and a mountain of picks. Minnesota was unwilling to part with either Edwards or Towns in a KD-centered deal, so there was no traction.
Can't picture KD in Minnesota.

Maybe they really are looking for another wing.
I had read we might get a trade exception for JB to the Knicks. Has anyone seen confirmation if that happened? If so, any wings that might be attainable that fit it?

We still need a pg though regardless of a wing. Hardy isn't a pg.
Luka is literally our only pg right now.
