I have heard very credible people in the last few weeks tell me that DH is absolutely, certainly, unquestionably convinced he is going to be on the team this coming season, and he's been letting people know that. And he has been hanging out in Mavs World.
But then I have heard very credible people in the last few weeks tell me that DH is a Mavs favorite but he is absolutely, certainly, unquestionably NOT going to be on the team this coming season, because they can't fit him in.
My thought was that the latter whispers (which came after it got in the media that he was back) were to try to create some uncertainty, so that the Mavs couldn't be slapped for tampering. (No recruiting is allowed until July 1.) But it's also possible that plans changed from one week to the next.
So I dunno. We'll see how it plays out, but imo he's still possible for slot 15. (Maybe he even has a stone-cold guaranteed promise?)

I'll be thrilled if Seth stays. I feel like we definitely need someone like him around.

Not only do I want Seth Curry to return, but Devin Harris needs to be on this team as well. This is his home.

Particularly with McBuckets gone
Sharp shooters are money these days and need someone in the corner for Smith and Doncic to hit or the spacing will be terrible
Love the playmaking and sixth man Seth was working on before the injury but honestly I just want some steals on defense and some threes on offense

At some point we have to start having bigger players. Too many point guards and small combo guards on the roster
Find some 3 and D players

Idk why we need Seth and Devin.
Dsj, jj, Brunson, seth, Harris
Doncic, wes
Barnes. Dfs ???
Dfs cant shoot the ball but does everything else well. We need some size at the wing. We also didnt f-ing need Salah.

I sure as hell don't want DFS, but he may be better than anyone else who the Mavericks can sign.

Looks like the Mavs might have interest in Anthony Tolliver...

Tolliver, too, is looking for multiple years and has a handful of suitors, including Dallas.

Bright side is Tolliver could give us a shooter at the 3 if we wanted to go tall. He's a bigger threat than Barnes is from the perimeter. For a bench guy he's fairly effective and versatile enough to move around to boost the bench.

Na, its really time to let go. We also have to dig out some minutes for Brunson to see if he is roleplayer material. Btw Brunson is almost 6-3 in shoes and the same weight than Devin.
Also Devin had terrible shooting numbers the last years and Barea/Wes provide enough veteran experience in the backcourt.
Only way i see Devin on this roster is if Yogi walks. If Seth walks i want a good shooter as his replacement, who can stretch the floor.
DSJ/Barea/Brunson/(Yogi)
Wes/(Seth)
Doncic/DFS
Barnes/Powell/Kleber
Jordan/Dirk/Salah
1-3 is set even with just one of Yogi or Seth staying because Barnes is going to play some SF too

@ShamsCharania: Sources: Top brass from the Los Angeles Clippers have flown to Dallas to meet with free agent...
...wait for it...
...forward Anthony Tolliver in his home.

I love Devin but this isn't a family reunion.
Yogi is the odd man out for me. Id rather have Seth because of his size and shooting.
We need another versatile wing player before I'd say we're set 1-3...but it's close.

I just don't see a 33 year old power forward as a need. I didn't know he shot that well though, that's pretty cool.

I think they see Yogi and Brunson as longterm Barea and Harris replacement, thats why they try to keep Yogi.
A versatile 3&D wing would be nice but you cant have it all and im fine with going with Seth for now because of his elite shooting. Keep Yogi and Seth and let Devin go.

Rick needs to be saved from himself on the midget ball. The more options he has to run 3 guys under 6'3" out there the more he will probably do.
I believe in Brunsons so let's let yogi walk.

Two primary Ballhandler DSJ/Doncic and two backups Yogi/Brunson
I think with Doncic midgetball is finally over because one of the three ballhandler is going to be 6-7 tall

But yeah, at one moment this season Rick is going to roll out four playmaker + Jordan since Doncic can defend some PF

We just lost McDermott who was also a 6'8" sharpshooter. He fit into our squad so well he was our fourth best guy in terms of +/-

Yeah but I've been advocating Mario Hezonja to replace Dougie. Hezonja doesn't shoot as well but he's got potential to get better with better spacing and a little Carlisle magic. I don't really see Tolliver playing the 3 here IMO.

Cool. That's your opinion. I don't think Rick want's Hezonja and it looks like he's heading to the Knicks.
My opinion? We don't need projects around Doncic and Smith. We need guys who are smart and actually follow plays so the young guys can see what its like to master an offense. Tolliver is a smart journeyman who can actually shoot this year.

@wojespn: Portland has agreed to a one-year, $6.5M deal with Mario Hezonja, league source tell ESPN.

All the money is drying up, still a few guys left... Like Seth Curry and Dirk Nowitzki.

Now that LaBron to LA is official & PG13 stayed with the Thunder... I'll ask again, who exactly are we going to leapfrog to make it into the playoffs next year?
Say we finish 10th in the West, about 6-7 games out of 8th & DeAndre is about what we expect. Great rebounder, efficient rim runner, subpar rim protector, not on the floor late in games. What do we offer him to stay around for year 2? Or do we even want him around for year 2 at that point?

Our main target is to make DSJ and Doncic look awesome and as future stars. Thats the only way to attract stars as free agents. And Jordan is one of the best realistic pieces to make them look great.
So again: Great offseason for us

I dunno, maybe we should wait until the season starts before we start making predictions about next year? A lot can happen between now & then.
Not sure why you're so eager to start complaining, as if this offseason hasn't been phenomenally better for us than anyone could have predicted.

With the Mavs having very little cap space left they are just going to have to wait and see who falls through the cracks.

Playoff teams that have gotten worse
Spurs
Thunder (well, maybe waiving Melo is addition by subtraction, but they aren't better)
Trailblazers (maybe-- could see them implode if they don't do anything)
Playoff teams that have gotten better
None
Non-playoff teams that have gotten better
Mavs
Lakers
Suns
