Crazy that 6?9? Juwan Howard might go undrafted with only 5 more picks
If we can nab him that would be so much gravy

A bit early to say he's a upgrade on DFS....maybe ceiling wise if he gets there.

I don?t think it?s too early to say that Miller is a bad fit and OMax has a perfect skill set/game for here

I?ll try to temper my expectations because I remember really liking our Tyrell Terry and Tyler Bey picks. Lively & OMP both do seem to translate well to the NBA.

Nico basically addressed 4 critical things in 1 night.
1. Improved our defense.
2. Improved our frontcourt.
3. Added a vet.
4. Made us younger.
Great job!!!

Mavs Spurs rivalry is heating up again and now Mavs have a weapon to somewhat combat Wemby.
Looking forward to the next decade or so of the rivalry and those two battling several times a year plus most like POs.
Wemby was the main reason I wanted us to draft Lively.

Warriors getting TJD is fricken' draft malpractice. That's the only thorn on an otherwise great night.

Agree...but that's mostly because the Mavs have completely sucked at drafting for a long time...often intentionally so (wtf Cuban). But yes this draft was extremely solid. Even analysts who weren't high on Lively (who O think will be shown to be very wrong) think he's a great fit here and the trade for him was an A+ move. Outside of teams who had really high picks it seems the Mavs had one of the best drafts possible.

TMac said Atlanta wanted Green or Hardy in order to get Capela. I'm a little torn as I might have included Green depending on what else came back, but Capela could very well be heading the direction of Deandre Jordan. Nice to see the Mavs hold tight though as teams don't seem to be total pushovers in negotiating minus Washington.
We still need to address rebounding though.

Lol no way to Hardy, but if Green was included then the 10th pick surely wouldn't also be packaged for Capela. Now if it were Green and filler for Capela and #15 that would be interesting. Not sure I do Green straight up for Capela, as I'd rather keep Green or feel we could net something better with him in a deal.

Never really been a big fan of Green especially with who was on the board at the time we drafted but last season I saw what his ceiling can potentially be. I couldn?t throw him but if they sent back Capella and the 15th pick? Wouldn?t be upset about it.

Oscar Tshiebwe is still a FA. Shocked he hasn't been picked up yet.

I also wouldn't count out still getting a starting center especially since they wanted Capela.

Just saw that the Mavs signed Mike Miles to a two-way contract. Very happy about that addition to the team. Miles is a tough, physical point guard who brings a high level of intensity to both ends of the court. He is not afraid of contact and draws a lot of fouls. Draftkings compares him to Peyton Pritchard, with the ceiling being Jalen Brunson.

Super interesting a player of the year type can't even lull a team to spend a 2nd rounder on him. That is odd...even a flyer or something.

SIGN HIM! Wasn?t he a potential lottery pick the previous year, and he went back to school? He will shore up any rebounding issues.

Awesome pickup. I can honestly envision a scenario where Miles Jr. gets more minutes this upcoming year. He's a perfect backup PG type. Bigger than McKinley Wright and more upside, he has some Barea qualities to his game, too.

No, he was never viewed as a lottery pick which is why he went back to school after winning NPOY.

I would not have done Green and 10 for 15 and Capela. I would have done Green and 10 for Okungwu and 15 then drafted JHS.
Right now with TJD in GS and having some Draymond type traits in his game plus the Warriors have Kuminga ready to play expanded minutes, I think Draymond would be perfect fit on Mavs. I don't think warriors or Green want to split but Mavs should talk to him while he is FA.

Well I have a feeling Capela is about to go the way of Deandre Jordan. He would been good for a year but then regressed. Plus, he is hurt a lot. It's certainly not an easy decision either way though hence why the Mavs considered it.
Green has one more season to prove consistency. He and Hardy were electric when the played a lot of minutes together.
Going younger was the absolutely right move though. Having a team full of tired hurt old vets killed us last season.

Seriously, Nico absolutely killed this one. I'm actually allowing myself to be cautiously optimistic about the future, which is saying a lot considering I fell into total despair at the end of last season. I'd like to see us pick up one more reliable 3&D wing with our newly acquired MLE. If Nico does that, I'll be thrilled with this offseason (assuming we re-sign Kyrie)
EDIT: You forgot the 5th critical thing- getting rid of Bertans' awful contract, which allowed us to get under the luxury tax and keep the MLE.

Lifelong TCU fan. I watch pretty much every game and I was happily surprised they picked up Miles. He's a really good player and he led a high level team until some unfortunate things happened.

Maybe the dumbest thing I?ve ever read from MMB.
Says FO lacks self awareness yet admits he knows nothing about Lively.
He ?assumed? the Mavs would be getting Lu Dort for trading back 2 spots lol

OMax nugget:
You want defense?
Opponents shot 26% on jump shots when he contested....#1 amongst Top 100 prospects with more than 50 contested jumpers.
Opponents shot 24% on all possessions with OMax as nearest defender

I would've loved Lu Dort but if teams were offering 2 1st's for DFS...Dort was gonna cost more than that.

I believe it inches past $11MM aggregate. With the full MLE, Mavs can offer guys deals up to 4 years in length.
For example, they can offer 4 years and $11MM to one players, or several 4 year deals as long as the combined AAV is less than the $11MM total.
There's an advantage in having the full MLE to compete against those without. It tiers down where some teams can only offer 2 or 3 year deals with the aggregate decreasing pending that particular team's cap situation.
Guys that fit a full MLE offer would be Grant Williams, Bruce Brown, Harrison Barnes, Donte DiVincenzo, etc.

I can't imagine Barnes settling for the MLE, but who knows.
Wonder if we can get Grant for THJ.

Can the Mavs get Kuzma for FRP in 2027 and matching salary? Wiz seem to be playing the game of taking on salary if they get picks.
