All that's left is for Roddy B. to suit up

DALLAS -- In one breath, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle on Monday tried again to temper expectations of Rodrigue Beaubois' actual return date. In the next breath he seemed to let the cat out of the bag with an unintentional ode to Valentine's Day.
"Look, we're all excited," Carlisle said regarding Beaubois' impending return. "But, we have another two days before we get to the alter with this."
Two days would be Wednesday, the next time the Mavs are in action at home against the Sacramento Kings followed by a road game Thursday at the Phoenix Suns, the final game before All-Star Weekend.
On Monday, Beabois successfully completed his second team practice, but his first full-on practice with lengthy sessions of five-on-five scrimmages. Afterward, Beaubois said he wants to play, obviously, as soon as possible, but he offered no assurances that he will make his season debut in either of this week's games.
He did say he is encouraged after the two practices and believes his speed and quickness are very close to pre-injury levels.
"If I'm ready on Wednesday, if I feel good, I might play on Wednesday," Beaubois said. "Or, if not, my goal is really to at least after the All-Star break just be ready to play. Like I said, after practice, day after day I will be able to see where I am."
More to come here on Beaubois' situation, where he fits into the rotation and how much he can expect to play.

Get to the *altar*, Jeff.

Awesome. So extremely excited for his return.. The more the media people downplay Roddy and laugh at the high expectations by fans, the more I am confident that he can bring to this team what it desperately needs from him on a consistent basis if he stays healthy. I pray to Moses Malone that Carlisle lets him play a little bit.

Carlisle is basically right to keep emotions down. He comes back from injury ... could have a slow start and is inexperienced. I certainly hope though that he nonetheless has confidence in the guy and will give him as many minutes as possible.

Coach Rick Carlisle had words fitting for Valentine's Day when it came to assessing Roddy Beaubois. "Look, we’re all excited," Carlisle said. "But, we have another two days before we get to the altar with this." Carlisle also added, "If he has another good day (Tuesday) then it’s conceivable he could play (Wednesday)." The means the door is still open for Roddy Beaubois to make his first appearance of the season on Wednesday night as the Mavericks host the Sacramento Kings. Carlisle mentioned that Beaubois continues to progress daily and that he is doing well in practice.
Monday's practiced was the first real participation in a scrimmage setting, his second official practice. It was his first full-length practice and Beaubois continues to feel good. Despite the positive signs, Beaubois is not ready to declare Wednesday or Thursday as his official return. "If I'm ready on Wednesday, if I feel good, I might play on Wednesday," Beaubois said. "Or, if not, my goal is really to at least after the All-Star break just be ready to play. Like I said, after practice, day after day I will be able to see where I am."
The signs continue to look good, but the coach understands that the bar has been set high from an outside perspective. "Expectations are going to be ridiculously unreasonable," Carlisle said. "I don’t think there is any doubt about that, but that’s just a fact of life." The coach continued to stress the point that he is not concerned about incorporating the French guard back in the rotation and how it could affect what JJ Barea and Jason Terry have done over the course of the season.

I don't geez, they're the competition. They freaking out rebounded the Suns, minus Cousins. Evans is going to be a top 10 player. Westphal is the wrong coach for that group. First there was Rodman, then there was Sheed, followed by Artest....and now Cousins.

I don't think the Kings are neccesarily an easy win. Remember this is the Mavs. They have a way of playing down to their competition. It's those easy wins were they let off on the gas pedel. Remember the close game against the Cavs.

I think I read that they had a vertical leap contest today and that Stevenson won?
I also read from fish that Peja actually made something like 39 straight 3's...Holy crapola.

As underdog showed below( er...above)... It's a combination of db.com (I am not a premier member, just saw the headline) and tweets. Probably tweets for the 39treys...

I still cannot believe that stevenson could beat anyone in a vertical leap contest.

He didn't beat anyone, he beat a number. He was called out on his ups and was challenged to jump a certain height and he did it.
