Mavs sign Nicolas Brussino to 3 year min deal
http://basketball.realgm.com/player/.../Summary/59353
Small forward... seems to be a good all-around player, only 23, let's hope he turns into something

Is the 3 year minimum deal at all guaranteed? Seems to be similar to contracts issued out last year.

Contract is partially guaranteed according to mavsmoneyball.
Possible he is not on roster at season start. But he could play his way into a spot.

I like that roster. Enough veterans to contend for a playoff spot and a LOT of youth. Plus Cuban wants to fill out the roster with more rookies which will force Rick to play some young guys.

Double? Please do explain. With Buckets we'll have 3 from the 2011 championship squad. Then we'll have Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes from the Warriors. That makes it 5 champions.

@espn_macmahon: Mark Cuban expects the Mavs to have as many as four rookies on their roster next season. Second-round center A.J. Hammons and Argentinian wing Nicolas Brussino have guaranteed contracts. Forward Dorian Finney-Smith, who went undrafted out of Florida, signed a partially guaranteed three-year deal. Guard Jonathan Gibson, who averaged 42 points per game in China last season, and 6-foot-8, 260-pound forward Jameel Warney are among the players on the Mavs' summer league team who are likely to earn invitations to training camp.

@IAmAssuming Rick Carlisle expects none of these rookies to see the court and doesn't understand why Cuban gave 4 rookies guaranteed contracts.
I'm just kidding, hopefully we do try to develop some young guys and hopefully at least one or two of them have some game in them.

@ShamsCharania: Free agent forward Quincy Acy has agreed to a two-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks, league sources tell The Vertical.
@espn_macmahon: Quincy Acy's two-year deal with the Mavericks is for the league minimum, according to a league source.

@ESPNSteinLine: The Mavericks remain in talks with guard Roddy Beaubois to potentially bring the former first-round pick back to Dallas, league sources say
@ESPNSteinLine: If the Mavs and Roddy Beaubois do reach terms on a reunion, he'd have to beat out summer-league sensation Jonathan Gibson for a roster spot

So I guess we really didn't want him back... Looks like the push to get younger is real.

Can't disagree with you there... I think Acy is the most interesting of the bunch -- dude is all dunks and defense, probably has a career season under Carlisle. Not to mention the Acy-Curry connection from Sacto -- they're gonna "Gerald Green" DeMarcus Cousins to Dallas next summer.

I think Roddy is the only one who hasn't been offered a contract of any sort, but yep.

Really thought Felton had played himself into a bigger contract. Surprising he only signed for the minimum.

Yeah that was the bigger surprise. In a year where guys like Mozgov who only scored 6ppg (1.3ppg in the playoffs) got 4 years 64 million, I figured Felton would be worth at least 4-7 million.

@tim_cato: the Mavericks' decision to move on from Raymond Felton was a mutual one, I'm told. they loved him but wanted to get younger.

Not keeping Felton was the right move.
Don't really get the Acy move with Anderson on the roster. Maybe keep Anderson's fire going so that he fights for his minutes.

I think Acy is more of a PF than a SF (not sure what his minutes splits look like, but the advanced numbers favor him the most as a four), so I'd guess this is going to do at least as much to keep pushing Powell.

Acy is going to be a good pickup for this team, hits the open 3 at a decent respectable clip and plays bigger than his size. Can block shots occasionally and plays above the rim.
Think of quincy as the charlie 4 replacement with more weight and physicality down low.
If you replay last season far too often when zaza was in foul trouble or we played teams with two bangers we were in a whole lot of trouble bench wise if powell and Charlie got pushed around. This is an excellent move by the FO and for it to be 2 seasons at the minimum...great great move.
For the naysayers, just wait and watch

Yeah, Acy is no SF (played 90% of his minutes at the 4 last season per bbr)

If Acy is more of a PF, does that mean Powell gets some burn at center? There probably won't be a ton of minutes available as Dirk's backup, but there might be plenty behind Bogut... Gotta find some way to maximize Powell's minutes after paying him $37m (unless the FO only paid him to be trade fodder...)

I think people are greatly exaggerating Acy's role here. I see him as a third stringer in the vein of Evans.

I think that's pretty much a given since last year Powell already spent 30% of his minutes at C. And even more so if he still can't hit the outside shot consistently which is what Rick wants from his PFs.
For now though I'd say that Barnes and Powell probably get the majority of Dirk's backup minutes, but Acy can always play himself into a bigger role as the season goes on.

I think it's expected that Dirk's minutes will be reduced again this year. Dude is 38 years old. Should be plenty of minutes behind him for other guys.

Dwight Powell's days as a fringe rotation player should be done. The Mavs didn't give the 24-year-old Powell a four-year, $37 million deal to have his primary role be shooting arrows on the bench to celebrate Wesley Matthews' 3-pointers, as it often was late in the season, with Powell getting a DNP-CD in 10 of 27 games after the All-Star break.
"I expect him to be a rotation player," Carlisle said. "The last two years we've been working toward this period where we could get him signed to a longer-term deal and integrate him to our everyday rotation. ... He's a combination 4/5. I see him playing both positions. Time will tell how much at each, but I do believe there are going to be a lot of situations where he'll play both positions in the same game."

I like the Acy signing. Rugged and can hit the 3 and bring energy. It may not be immediately but at some point that frontcourtdepth is going to be huge. Im sure Dirk and Bogut will rest their fair share of back to backs.

I like the Acy signing. His physicality and hustle made him a fan favorite in Sacramento last year. So, I can see him guarding the 4 in late game situations where the Mavs need a defensive stop. Reading some of the analyses by the Sacramento media it sounds like he is a vocal leader on the court. He adds something, but it is difficult to see how the minutes work with Dirk, Powell, Mejri, Barnes, Anderson, Bogut, etc. I see it as a good problem to have. A young, energetic bench that likes to play defense would be a sight for sore eyes.
