Mariners beat the A's and the Angels won, so the Angels jumped back into 2nd place. Lead is up to 8.5 games. Magic number is 42.

Look at this idiocy from the DMN tonight...
So you're admitting that you're a front running douche bag?
WTF is wrong with people?
I'll never understand it. If you're "Texas born", you're a Ranger or an Astro fan you stupid, fat whore. Or you're not a fan at all.
Geographics determine fandom, unless your parents spent a lot of time somewhere else and indoctrinated you. No exceptions.

*raises hand* What if your dad was the front running douche bag that indoctrinated you?
Actually, I don't really like the Yankees anymore. In fact, I don't even like my dad anymore. Go Rangers!

2nd time in a week that Murphy has burned the opposition when intentionally walking Cruz. Way to go. Love that dude.

Very, very nice win last night and Lee gets the start today over NY's worst starting pitcher. That sure sounds good on paper. Make it happen Texas - we want to pull out our mini brooms...

Great playoff atmosphere like game...
When CJ dived to first base to get Jeter out was the best...the bullpen was solid with the exception of Frankie
Murph tied the game with a 2-run homer, then threw Swisher out at the home to keep the game tied, then hit the walkoff hit to end the game.
Hello Win Column!!!

lol you got the order wrong: threw Swisher out, 2 run HR to take the lead not tie, and then walkoff hit.
But it's all the same!

You are right...he hit the 2 run blast to take the lead and then A-rod hit the solo shot to tie it again.
I just know Murphy was amazing last nite

There is just no way Washington can take Murphy out of the lineup anytime soon. He is carrying the team right now. Borbon is the odd man out, and probably won't see the field unless he is pinch running late in a game or something.

Moreland actually looks like a professional hitter...unlike Chris Davis.
I like his patience at the dish.

Losing one game against one of the best teams in baseball is never going to be a catastrophic moment.

Won one we shouldn't have, and lost one we shouldn't have.
It all comes out in the wash.

Losing one game period in a 162-game season (unless it's one of the last few, perhaps) is never going to be a catastrophic moment.

hes been one of the better relievers in the AL this year.
As for the last game, we saw the other side of the david murphy for borbon switch. David murphy is obviously hitting better but its a pretty big defensive downgrade from Borbon to hamilton in center and its an even bigger defensive downgrade from hamilton to murphy in left. Both the ground rule double and the ball in front of murphy would have probably been caught with hamilton in left and borbon in center. Also nelson cruz had a terrible game. Hes been our second best player this year so im completely ok with one bad game but it does warrant mentioning.
edit-to be clear, id be playing murphy right now too. Its absolutely a no brainer given hows hes hitting and the fact that he is a solid but not spectacular left fielder. Im just saying there is a trade off.

BTW I realize its not about the rangers but it is baseball related. Chipper Jones may be done after tearing his ACL. If he is damn what a career that guy had. The best hitting third basemen of all time.

Only 700+ hits behind George Brett
Only 112 Hr behind Mike Schmidt
I guess I am not so sure of "all time", but he is in the running with some very good ones over the years.

Hunter is starting to have a major home run problem. Boston has taken him deep three times already, and now B2B. Luckily they are all solos. But WTF?

Rangers have climbed the mountain and tied it. Hamilton scored from 2nd on an infield hit by Vladdy. Hamilton is doing everything tonight. Four hits, two terrific catches, and great baserunning.
