Agree, even Cuban has already planted the seed that the market will correct itself in 2013 summer because of the harsher lux tax.

Nash & Kaman would make a lot of sense. But Mavs own nothing to offer.
Might convince NO to take Roddy + Odom + filler, but even that's questionable. They are high on Roddy for sure, but Hornets will remember Odom's reaction to the nixed Paul trade (where he was headed to New Orleans as well), so depends on how badly they want to get rid of Kaman. I doubt that Odom would play a single game for the Hornets though. Either they relocate him immediately or he'll find ways.
Same stuff with Nash. What to offer?

To him at the end of the day, it's to win tonight and every game left.

We can sign both outright this summer.

Nash and Kaman as plan B, with possibly Gerald Wallace? Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Would beat this roster easily on paper. Who could we keep? Let's say we let Terry, Odom, and Kidd go. Would it create enough cap space to sign those 3?

Assuming Howard is traded to NJ, with reasonable amount of time left before the deadline, Do you guys think Cuban will try to make a move? Or do you think he will hold out some hope for free agency in the summer and not take on any more salary?

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't rush anything. Also, we really don't have that many assets. I think Cuban would try to improve the team the same way in the summer, like he would do with Dwight and Deron, creating cap space, to sign players, just in this scenario not Dwight and Deron, but guys like Nash, Wallace, Kaman, or Mayo, or any good free agent out there.

If there isn't a stud available then I think cubes committed another cluster by letting Ty go.

Tyson Chandler is not worth his paycheck, especially since we'd have to sacrifice every available stud over the next 4-5 seasons to keep him.
In the end, hanging onto Chandler would look a lot more like Dampier than letting him go would look like Nash...

Can anyone remember what was the last time that woj guy was right about trades/ free agent signings that matter? I think he is just rolling the dice in his articles... for the record: The last things he wrote i remember are:
1. Nets No. 1 on Nene's list: a few days later Nene resigned with Nuggets
2. Carmelo Anthony will join o the Nets: he was traded to the Knicks after they gave a better offer
3. Lebron to Chicago or anywhere else he won't join Miami: he joined the Heat

In hindsight, maybe, but even that's a huge maybe. It was the good move imo, giving Tyson a 4 year contract should have been a no go wither way. Even if strike out on those 2, theoretically, we can put together a more talented roster than our championship team had.

@daldridgetnt: Dwight saying he wants to stay in Orlando=Dwight leaving Orlando on July 1 & going to Nets/Dallas, who didn't have to blow up rosters 4 him.

Dwight Howard would not answer what he wants to do in 2012-13, but he says he wants to finish this yr w/Magic.

Dwight Howard said tonight he's informed Magic he wants to stay for rest of season. Said they now must "roll the dice."

Should be clear by now Dwight wants to finish season in ORL so he can opt out in July and head straight to Brooklyn w/out Nets being gutted. All up to R. DeVos now. Magic owner wants to roll those dice & pray he can change Dwight's mind in next 3 months. Dice roll to put it mildly.

More promising, I suppose! However could this entice Magic to trade him?

Wow, practically everyone is tweeting about this and most, if not all, believe it's a lock Dwight is heading to Brooklyn next year, including Marc Stein, Wojo, Kennedy, Aldridge, etc. etc.
Looks like Dallas will be massive long shots this offseason to land the pair.

Or maybe he is just saying that so the Nets won't trade for him.
If Derron williams chooses to go home (Dallas) then Howard will follow him.

Dwight saying he wants to stay in Orlando is the final nail in the coffin for me. He's going to Brooklyn. Seems pretty transparent.

Or to play devils advocate. Maybe he's chosen to stay with the Magic because he doesn't want to go to a depleted Nets team. This way they'll keep Lopez, Brooks, and the lottery pick.

Nah, not soo fast.
I think the Lakers were a "meh ok" trade option for him at the start of the season because it was a easy doable deal (Bynum). But really he dont wanna be Shaq 2.0 and be Kobes bitch. Thats why he told he wont sign an extension in a Lakers trade.
Maybe he likes the Mavs the most but he knows he cant force a trade to the Mavs without killing the cap for Deron.
And of course he dont wanna get traded now to the Nets. Probably missing the playoffs AND give up assets.
So yeah telling he wanna stay is a logic choice. And in this shortened season everything is possible. Thwy just beat the Heat. Wade going down, Rose not full healthy and they can easily win the ECF...

That Nets team is depleted. Marshon Brooks is a below average player on a real bad team. Lopez is maybe the 15th best Center in the league( Kaman is twice as good for example) and the lottery picks sum up for about 5 million in cap holds next season, but the players don't look good enough to be real championship caliber for the next 3 to 4 years. Joining the Nets was always the choice of no rings, but much (endorsement) money

Magic have to trade this dude for the best deal they can get.
Dwight just doesnt want to leave this season. I'm sorta surprised that the nets are not thinking the same thing about deron unless they've really gotten assurances that he is staying.

Dwight's "roll the dice comment" is so horrible. Just an awful thing to say.
I still want him here badly due to his sheer talent, but there should be a part of any GM that's terrified to hitch his wagon to that guy. So, so immature.

That is either Roddy/Wright + expirings or an absolute lowball offer by the Nets that doesnt include Lopez or the pick. Probably Humphries/Farmer/future 1st

That too. I wanted Lebron with the Dust because i wanted that Dirk get his ring but i hate the guy on- and offcourt. Winning with James would have left a "meh" taste in my mouth.
Dwight with the Mavs after this saga...hmm...

Unless the Net have a 100% practically in writing gurantee that he's coming in the offseason, they would still give up a Brooks/Lopez/Picks package in a heart beat for Howard. In.a.heartbeat. Or they'd be stupid.

I can't say I agree with this logic. Seems like a bit of confirmation bias based on Woj's report today and other things.
It's entirely possible that Woj is right and Dwight is just manipulating things to make sure Brooklyn has assets to put around him. But it's also possible (perhaps less likely) that he's simply a conflicted person who has a lot of emotions and interests pulling him in different directions.
Point being, while I absolutely would not put it past him that he's already decided he's out, I think it's quite possible that he's just all over the place in his own head. People keep saying that the former possibility is "consistent with X, Y, or Z" (including Woj's report); I say the latter possibility is consistent with being a human being.

Well, it would make me a horrible GM, but I would trade his sorry @ss to the Charlotte Bobcats. I'd call up the Bobcats and say: look Dwight aint coming back, yall want to get rid of a few players to rent him out for a month or two? It mighyt help you sell some tickets.....
I bet they would most certainly trade Diaw and filler for him. The Bobcats would love it. And Orlando would too knowing that the piece of crap would have to suffer in Charlotte for the next 20 games.

The Bobcats dont wanna win games. And Howard would sit out most of the games with "injuries"...broken toe nail etc
