Somebody tell Lin that's the wrong Nelson over there! Well, I guess it's good for him...
Hard to find a coach with more of "rookie-coach" reputation than Nelson - that is, if he's still going to be there next season.

Lin is getting a multi-year deal with sizeable guarantees in the first year.

Good for Lin. He'll get burn with the Warriors. I think he has nice game and will play well for Nellie.

... and he's able to stay in the Bay Area and still in possession of his soul(did not become a Laker/Heatler). Again, good for him!

If that is true. Damn it. Maybe JJ hit his growth spurt this summer.

of course. i wish both nelsons would leave the nba for good.
donnie nelson jr brings lin to summer league and gives him a chance...
all for him to blow up and sign somewhere else..
meanwhile were stuck with barea. id take lin over terry at this point, im that tired of his game.

Would have much rather had him than JJB.
Oh well, good luck to the kid.

Not a bad coach to learn offensive-only point guarding under.

Nice deal for both Warriors and Lin. Wish him lots of luck, he will get sufficient time with that young team to develop his skills.

Guaranteed money for an undrafted Summer League stand out that was offered a Summer League spot by exactly one team.....
That's....a tad nuts.
Don't get me wrong, the guy looked promising, but guaranteed money based on five Summer League games? Wow.
Good for him though. He went from hoping to play in the DLeague to getting guaranteed money for his childhood team. Pretty sweet turnaround for him.

Wish the Mavs could have got him cheap when the demand was nonexistent, but obviously, how where they suppose to know?
I'd be more upset with losing him to another team if it had been LA or Miami. GS? Sure, why not. Its not like he'd have been a contributor this year or next year, most likely, even if he does turn out to be a nice NBA player.
I'll keep my eye on him, for sure.

According to the article they're only guaranteeing $250K. Nellie's probably thinking he made Morrow, Watson and Azubuike he can make Lin.

The Asian-American presence in the Bay Area is ridiculous. His jersey sales alone will probably pay for the rumored $250k guaranteed part of his salary. Slight exaggeration, but not a stretch to say that ticket sales will increase.
Still upset that he didn't pick the Mavs... sigh.

Obviously a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things, but any guaranteed money at all based on SL alone without going through training camp seems awfully aggressive to me, and might be close to unprecedented.

yea but it's equally rare for a player to generate as much buzz as Lin did based on summer league alone. He created a market that wasn't there a month ago.
When combine that with the fact that they're really light at guard after losing Morrow and Watson it doesn't seem that crazy.
I also wouldn't discount the fact that there's a big Asian population in the Bay area. It's still a business at the end of the day.

lol I love the ESPN headline "Mavs summer star nears contract with Warriors.."
9 points, 2 assists per game make you a star now? The kid has some POTENTIAL, but star?! Good grief...

Donnie Nelson and the Mavericks didn't give Jeremy Lin a chance-it's true.Coach Carlisle never never gives chance rookies players.Warriors is great team for Lin coach Nelson surely gives him a chance.

They didn't base it on just the summer league games. He showed he could do the same things he has been doing against tougher competition. Not hard to believe that Don had discussions with Donnie about how good he thought the kid was and could be, given Donnies background in scouting.

I want you to stop saying stupid sh!t like, "Donnie Nelson and the Mavericks didn't give Jeremy Lin a chance" when that's the exact opposite of what really happened...
The language barrier is one thing, but do you even pay attention to the Mavericks? Nobody on the planet would be talking about Jeremy Lin if Donnie Nelson and the Mavs hadn't just given him a shot in the summer league...
In short: shut the f*ck up.

I always thought UD and I were pretty tight, but I gotta admit, this 41mvp guy's got something.

Wait, is Jeremy Lin the first Polish-American basketball player to join the NBA?
This thread is confusing...
