It is destiny that we win 4-2 on Miami's home court as Miami won 4-2 in 2006 on our home court.

Mavs strategy - Rotate the ball on offense, keep the defense moving, look for the open shot.
- Play great team defense.
- Limit turnovers.
- Rebound, rebound, rebound.
Heat strategy - Play a gambling, physical defense and try to create turnovers.
- Play hero ball.
- Whine to the refs.
- Fake injuries if the game isn't going their way.
Mavs strategy > Heat strategy

Heat strategy is to go to the rim and flop around to take Chandler out. They couldnt do it until now so they will try even harder.

I hope to see lots of Heat ISO-ball to close out quarters. I hope to see them turning on each other. And I hope we kick the holy hell out of those bitches.

I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me.
A day may come when the courage of Mavs fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day.
An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of Dirk comes crashing down!
But it is not this day!
This day we fight!
By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you *stand,
MEN OF THE WEST!

Haywood a game-time decision:
Quote:
MIAMI -- Dallas Mavericks backup center Brendan Haywood backed off Saturday's declarative statement that he will test his ailing right hip in tonight's Game 6 against the Miami Heat. Prior to Sunday morning's shootaround, Haywood was definitive only in that he will be a game-time decision.
"I feel a little better, but it's one of those situations where you feel better doing things that aren't basketball related," Haywood said. "It's something totally different when you're trying to chase down one of the NBA's elite athletes or you're trying to trap D-Wade or something like that. That's a totally different ballgame and your hip responds differently to those type of motions."
Haywood strained his right hip flexor prior to the NBA Finals and aggravated it in Game 2. He missed Game 3, played just three minutes in Game 4 and sat out Game 5.
The Mavs' centers have been asked to be quite active defensively in this series with high traps on Dwyane Wade and Tyson Chandler and then being able to drop down to defend the paint and rebound.
Starting center Tyson Chandler will be prepared to play 40-plus minutes, and third-string center Ian Mahinmi will be on call. He has played in two games during Haywood's absence, logging eight minutes each time.
Meanwhile, Haywood will spend the afternoon doing whatever he can to get on the floor.
"It's definitely frustrating because you're not 100 percent at a time when you want to be and a very important moment of your career," Haywood said. "But you've just got to play the cards that you're given. You can't change them."

Okay big decision for me before I start heading out. What do I wear?
1) Do I keep going with my green old school dirk mavs shirt that I've been wearing all playoff long including at the game 5 that I went to last Thursday?
2) Or do I switch it up and wear the "Nowitness" shirt that I bought at the game?
I really want to wear the nowitness shirt but don't want to jinx anything..

StatsCube: How the Mavs and Heat handle close-out situations
Quote:
Dirk Nowitzki in close-out situations
This is Dirk Nowitzki's 23rd playoff series, and he's won 12 of the previous 22. Nowitzki's team is just 12-7 when they have a chance to close out a series, but they've never lost any of those series in which they failed to close out the first chance they got.
Three of the seven losses came against Portland in 2003, when the Mavs went up 3-0, then needed a seventh game to finish off the Blazers. Nowitzki is 4-0 in Game 7s, and also won a deciding Game 5 in his first playoff series in 2001, when the first round was still a best-of-five format. That one (in Utah) and one of his Game 7 victories (in San Antonio in 2006) came on the road.
Nowitzki's scoring average in close-out games isn't much different than in other playoff games, but he's rebounded better and been more efficient.
Rick Carlisle in close-out situations
This is Rick Carlisle's 18th playoff series as a head coach, and he's won 10 of the previous 17. Carlisle's teams are 10-3 in close-out situations and have never lost any of those series. Two of the losses came in Carlisle's first playoff series with Detroit in 2002, when the Pistons went up 2-0, but needed a deciding Game 5 to beat the Raptors.
Carlisle's teams are 3-0 in deciding Game 5s or Game 7s overall, including one win on the road. That came with the Pacers in Game 7 of the 2005 first round in Boston.
So neither Nowitzki nor Carlisle has ever lost a playoff series in which they were one win away.
LeBron James facing elimination
This is LeBron James' 17th playoff series, and he's won 11 of the previous 16. But James' teams are just 2-5 when facing elimination, and have never been able to come back and win any of those series.
The two wins came in Game 6 (at home) against Boston in 2008 and in Game 5 (at home) against Orlando in 2009. James is 0-2 in Game 7s, but both were played on the road (at Detroit in 2006 and at Boston in '08).
James' raw numbers have been better when facing elimination, but he's scored less efficiently in those situations.

Ugh, I'm so anxious for tonight. This is probably the biggest nights of my life. I've been trying so hard not to get crazy all day but as it gets closer to game time, the nerves are starting to set in. I don't know how you guys are dealing with this..

Just don't force anything. Take what the defense gives you. This is what you've practiced so hard for your entire life. We know you won't let us down. Remember, no easy layups.
