I thought he could contribute 10-15 minutes a night this year. Probably not fair to him because ultimately he was a 2nd rounder. 2nd rounders are lucky to even make a team.
That's one thing about pickup games though...the jumper will fall.

I'm not seeing issues with his form. His jumper looks fine. When they're falling everyone sees all-star, when it's not falling its bust or project.
My point about summer league is that you're playing with guys you've likely never played with before, a new scheme on both ends and doing it with maybe a week or 2 of practices. Also with refs that are summer league level. It's always been very disjointed. I don't expect this kid to be a world beater or relied on much but all the judging is far too early.

Of course not. Like I said earlier, i'm looking for SOMETHING. I don't care about stats in summer league. I just look for potential and he looks to be some ways away. He's a 2nd round pick...he can't be a bust lol.
Its not "judging". Its gauging what he is. I've asked myself why did he drop so far in the draft. Through the little we've seen I see why. It doesn't mean he wont' be anything. I'm just gauging what he is right now. He's a project with upside.

I really don?t see any real redeeming qualities in this guy. Hopefully the scouting team knows something that we?re not seeing.

And then Hardy scores 7 points in 40 seconds. Again, he's just going to be polarizing to some fans. People gonna hate on him when he isn't scoring in droves. Just needs to find some balance, but shooters are going to shoot.

His journey won?t be scoring. It will be defense and consistency

Even our summer league team? a team with zero Mavs players including Green? is incapable of playing a first half before starting to play in the second

Listen, Hardy is gonna be a lot better playing with better talent around him. Our SL team just sucks. He has also sucked, but his role for next season will be fine as a 12 mpg guy off the bench to score. Mavs have the overall talent to hide his weaknesses.

That summer team might be top 5 worst ever. Whoever signs/picks the team should be fired. Granted Mavs are not good developing players from young age in general.

Yeah he's not getting 12 minutes a game on this team next year. IT would not shock me if he spent most of his year in G League.

I agree but look at what the team is compiled of....You have teams like the Thunder who have 1st rounders all over there. Mavs barely have a 2nd rounder out there.

If this kid is playing 12 mpg next year then that means someone else ahead of him sucks
I haven't posted much about him but like a said a week ago after seeing him up close in action dude needs to spend the year in the G-League
He literally offers you nothing if he's not hitting shots and he's a THJ clone in that respect.
Possibly in a year or two he'll work himself into a 12 MPG type of player but I'd be shocked if he see's the floor much this year.
There was a guy last year on SL that I feel is better than Hardy. Carlik Jones he plays with better IQ and better shot selection overall. But hey I get it Hardy has more reputation being a much higher rated prospect coming out of HS.
But I would be real cautious of this guy because there's a strong chance he doesn't really pan out.

He deserves it, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over a two-way.

They (Mavs) definetly didn't need to develop any more yoiung guys at the end of bench since they have guys like Pinson available
LOL
But seriously this is typical Mavs operation procedures
Always go with the non-playing vet over the younger player for those end of the bench spots.
