Melo came to play in this game, but his teammates did not --- AI may have chipped in with 22 points, but he took 25 shots just to get to that number. Nuggets will be done in 5 in San Antonio, just like two years ago.

T. Duncan. 39 9-19 0-0 4-6 3 11 6 1 1 0 1 22
D. Nowitzki 47 9-19 2-5 3-4 6 15 3 3 4 1 5 23
Duncan's and Dirk's numbers in the last games.
Guess who's the super hero and who's the complete failure in the media?

I think this shows that you CAN win against a team with two difficult-to-stop players even when your best player has an ordinary game stat-wise. If only everyone would contribute...

That's kind of why I don't post much at all about the Spurs--I know this is a tough week for Mav fans.
See you tomorrow--get the series back one game at a time.

I am guessing the guy who played defense which isnt shown in the box score is the hero.....

If anyone wants to remember what good defense looks like, see this Spurs/Nuggets game in the 4th quarter so far

The Spurs are great at closing out a series (2nd round last season excluded of course).

If the mavs dont win their series the spurs will have an ez road to another championship with little to no oposing contention.

Anti-climatic. But then again it's the Nuggets. Nice bounce back from the Spurs.

Spurs always either lose in 2nd round or win championship. If the Mavs can't beat GS it looks like that's close to a lock to happen again. (lose to Suns in 2nd round or win it all)

I'd put Phoenix on the list too. You never know when they'll go all Baron Davis on someone.

I....this is so filthy....I think.....nay, I know, that I will openly root for the Spurs to beat the Suns in the "real" WCF. (and then for whatever east team makes it to the Finals)
What do you think about that?
(good lord, I need to go take a shower now...so dirty)

Flaco, the Spurts and Suns play in the second round they can't play each other in the WCF, even if you have given up hope on the Mavs.

Damn Cuban is still paying Finley? How long will that last lol. That's gotta suck to be paying a guy to shot over 50% from 3 for a rival.

Next year is Finley's last hit on our salary cap. I think I remember that Cuban will pay Finley out over 10 years or so though.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if Fin was still here would they just let him walk or if they would trade his contract and how much value would it have? Seems Cuban doesn't do the trade expiring contracts thing away anymore though.

Interesting point. Of course, we thought about this through and through when it happened--the cutting, I mean--but, man, how time flies. If Cuban had been a little looser with the pursestrings, we would have a highly valuable trade asset this offseason or next February. Oh, and we'd also still have Mike-freakin'-eight-for-nine-from-the-arc-Finley.

a third of the salary of the mavs this year was players that dont play for us at all. (29.4 mio out of 92). i think a lot of them were beginners faults by cuban.

Exactly what I was getting to lol. Especially now that we have a 1st round exit. What trade assets do we have that we actually want to get rid of? Having 20 million on 1 expiring contract would've been great trade bait.
