Yeah, I think that 12 men on the field penalty pretty much finished us off.

All the gains for the first three weeks are thrown out of the window with this game. They may have the tie breaker against Philly but they should be leading the division.
And when they look back at the game... the interception was the play of the game because that put them behind the 8 ball. Great quarterbacks don't make those too often. And the last 3 weeks, Romo has made several.

eh time to look for a new qb? yes?
no. This is a minor setback, but nothing we can't overcome.
This game hurts more because it's a division game and especially because it's against the hated foreskins.

I didn't say that Wind. But he has to be more cautious with the ball. He has to control the game. That is the quarterback's job. And is too erratic at this stage. Fun and exciting. But erratic.
Romo right now is Dave Kingman. Kingman did one of two things... homer or K. Nothing in between. Romo has the ability to be a Ted Williams, but he has to be more selective.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us get a quick TD here, but unfortunately we are going to have to hope for catching lightning in a bottle with an onside kick.

TO has really spit the bit today. He had one great drive, but other than that he's making a lot of ugly mistakes out there.

Well it looks like we have to pray for an onside kick to go our way now. Since we are out of timeouts, I'm pretty sure an unsuccessful onside means game over.

No, I haven't paid much attention to that, but it wouldn't surprise me with Gurode.

I think this says more about Dallas than about Washington. I think it shows that Dallas is not as good as people make them out to be more than Washington creeping up.

Some Chapstick company needs to sign an endorsement deal with TO. He's always using that stuff.

Washington has always creeped up over the past few years.... did anyone expect them to make it to the playoffs last year? It's all product of a stink of a conference and what continues to be one of the strongest divisions over the last half decade.

Well it is just one game, but Dallas still has some work to be done. I do wish I was seeing a little more improvement, especially on defense with a so-called defensive mastermind at the helm.

this was a major dud of a game for Dallas. But it is just one game, but they better be ready to go every week, especially when they see the division rivals.

Heartbreaker.
I am convinced something is up with Romo. He didn't look right at all.

In general that was a flat performance...sucky result.
Our defense needs to get better, or we will continue to fall short at playoff time.
Is there anyone on this defense that intimidates anyone else in the NFL?
For such a Great team, we have an average defense at best...maybe Avery needs to coach our defense?

I'd say Ware and that's about it.
The defense was awful tonight. I'm used to the secondary sucking it up, but the run defense was horrendous.

Run defense was mostly bad due to being out there for so long. I thought they held up at the beginning of the game.

We really don't have anyone on defense who can cause a turnover though... Henry was able to last year before he got hurt... and Pacman is supposed to be doing that now...
We don't have that player that the eagles have in Samuel or the Titans have in Finnegan. There's no one to turn the game around when things are going bad.
or sign/trade for Roy Williams to take some of the attention off of Owens

He definitely isn't playing up to the standard set last season. I have a theory that could be way off, but I'll throw it out anyways. I wonder if all of his focus on becoming "a better pocket passer" isn't a mistake. He's an improv player and sticking in the pocket and trying to be like Brady seems to take away from what he does best. But maybe there's something else at play that I don't know about.
Or heck, maybe he just spoiled us last year. He was playing at an absurdly high level for the first 12 weeks of last year. It might be unrealistic to expect that again, but I'm hoping that I'm wrong on that.

The interception was an absolute killer, but the story of the game to me was Newman. His guy caught both of the early touchdowns, and of course he got burned for the long ball to Moss. He was just flat awful in the first half.
I hate the Redskins. Remember, Flac, no Redskin game is a gimmy.

One thing I feel like I've noticed is that it seems like teams are selling out to negate the playmaking ability of TO, and it's kind of highlighted the lack of other playmakers the Cowboys are fielding out there beside him. So why exactly are we keeping Felix Jones glued to the bench? He's done nothing but produce with the workload he's been given and we don't see fit to even give him ONE carry!?!? I can't say I understand that strategy.
I also don't understand the decision to totally give up on the run a week after you run for over 200+ yards. I love when the Cowboys aren't afraid to go for the big pass, but you do need to utilize your running attack if you have it. 8 carries for your running backs just doesn't make any sense to me. I know Washington was up for several good stretches, but it wasn't bad enough that we had to totally abandon the run.
I hate to be an armchair coach, but I wasn't really happy with the way Garrett called that game.

Yeah I really don't understand Felix's lack of touches. Barber, as great as he is, is not the kind of back that's going to dominate against all teams. Teams with big linebackers have less trouble with him. I don't understand why Felix isn't getting 10 carries a game. Just doesn't make sense.

Yeah, I know some people were claiming that Newman is a crappy corner earlier in the thread, but I can't honestly remember a game this bad from him ever. He got abused today.

Newman is NOT a crappy corner. He's an elite corner, when he's right. But he was the opposite of right today.

Yeah, I don't buy the Newman has always been overrated spiel. I've seen him shut down some pretty good wide receivers in his day to think that. I think people are confusing him with Jacques Reeves or something.

A part of me wonders if we haven't already seen the best days of Newman though. When you get a player that starts racking up injuries at this point in the career, it's not always a good sign. Even though this is only his 6th season, he's not a young guy anymore. If I remember correctly he was like 24 or 25 when he entered the league so I think he's about 30 now. Not necessarily a death knell, but something to keep an eye on.
Hopefully, he gets healthy and puts all this to rest because I think that's probably the cause of all this. He's either rusty from the injury or something still ain't right there. I'd like to think he's still got several years of great play left in him.

Damn. That was a ugly showing by Newman. Real ugly. So ugly I almost want to blame the poor secondary all on him. He got killed killer to day. Not like him at all. Makes me wonder is he completely healthy or being rushed back from injury.
I think Pac Man has been damn good. Our best corner this season. He's atleast attempting to make plays on defense. I think we have a great core of corners but the lack of interceptions is a cause for concern. I can't help but think its the philosophy that players don't take chances on defense. I rarely see us in man to man. And what in the hell happened to our tackling? We can't wrap up to save our lives. The biggest one that pissed me off is the Newman sack. That missed sacked resulted into a bomb. I don't like the fact we have to blitz corners to begin with. If they miss like Newman did we're finished. I understand why Ware can't get to the quarterback at times because he's being double teamed. But there's no excuse for the rest of our linebackers. That's the killer about the 3-4. If you don't get pressure from linebackers where do you get it from? I almost want to get rid of it all together because I don't think we have the personnel for it. Our defense simply doesn't make plays. We don't take any chances or risks.
And btw, do people realize that our secondary's flaws is bigger than just Roy Williams?
I can't say much about the offense. I think when on we should put up over 30 a game easy. But 24 points in a game is good enough to win. I can't really knock the offense. Barber should have had more touches.
The sky isn't falling. I still feel we're the best team in the NFC. We were bound to lose at some point. Going into the season I had us going 2-2 at the beginning of the season because of the rival games and the Browns game.
If there's some good though penalties didn't kill us until the 12 man garbage. Solid showing by the offensive line again. Romo got plenty of time to throw. We didn't allow any t'ds in the 2nd half.
