You can't honestly tell me that it's a good idea for him to be playing on that ankle...in this game.

I don't think its a big deal. He's 21 and it's basketball. I've rolled mine badly and been back in the same game, seen it done by others many times too. Ankle turns are going to happen. It's not the same scale but it's playoffs and we are already down our 2nd best player. If it's a blowout in 2ns half, he will be sitting

If the game keeps going the way it has, they might pull Luka soon just to rest the dude.
I think what the NBA accomplished in the bubble is extraordinary - absolutely outstanding. But, asking teams to play big playoff games every two days might've been a mistake.

Someone will argue that boban can't play extended minutes
But somehow before the season was suspended on that last game with the mavs playing short handed he logged 30+ minutes
You'd think we Zubac at Center that Boban would play 25 minutes or more today but nope we got to find away to get out shitty sma ball no defensive lineups on the floor
Mavs most likely aren't going to win big or small but at least give your lineups a chance
I don't care if Boban, DFS, Kleber and MKG all got to play extended minutes I'd rather see that as opposed to midget lineups giving up layups all game long
I really only despise small ball because we have one of the worse teams in nba defensively when it comes to sma ball.
If they played small ball with guys who could defend I wouldn't be so critical of it.
But we have a roster full of shit defenders on our backcourt

Artificially dividing the bigs into PF and C doesn't really do anything for your argument.
And we had plenty of bigs until our starting C went down with a season-ending injury. Then we replaced Powell with WCS, who also opted out. That's the problem. If Powell wasn't injured or if WCS hadn't opted out, we'd be fine with bigs.
We just have bigger issues than the number of big boys on the roster. Adding Noah or any other stiff that was available to this team wouldn't have made us better or even good.
Burke at least has shown himself to be an NBA player. I'm not sure who you think was out there that we could have gotten that would have made more of a difference.

If this gets to 30 before half time I am out.
With Jackson playing still I think they have quit anyway

Maxi has been real, real bad. Had a few solid defensive possessions vs KL but not near enough to make up for it

Guys, this game was over when we lost KP. Clippers were already favored and have the most talent of any NBA team from 1-15. Mavs barely had playoff talent and then we lost KP and Doncic is injured.
We didn't lose this one because we get Burke instead of some other stiff of a big.

I agree with this. My one major complaint from Donnie's work during the Dirk era, and one that he seems to be doubling down on, is his tendency to go for "specialists" over 2-way players.
I mean, guys who are elite at shooting, and guys who are elite defenders are both great, and should be in the league. But, it seems like other teams are a little bit smarter and find players who can do BOTH, albeit at slightly less than elite levels.
Really, isn't THAT one of the things that felt different in 2011, the fact that Kidd, Marion and Chandler were all effective on both sides of the court?

Overall I think our bench has a lot of heart and is one of the better benches in the league. But we can't beat this team without both our stars being healthy.

Yeah, our bench is fine. Obviously you always try to upgrade, but it's not the problem.
We just need Doncic/KP healthy and with more experience, and we need to upgrade the guys around them in the starting lineup.

Burke has nothing to do with my argument and I'm only arguing because this game is boring as hell.
I was pissed when we let him get away the first time and definitely want to sign him if nothing else to take Barea's place next season.
I just didn't see the point of signing Cleveland when we had that situation.
It is a moot point in this game because our only chance is to start bombing 3s from here on out.

Luka with a bad ankle can still get by one of the best defensive teams in the league, good sign for the future.

I'm a little ignorant about MKG's history, so forgive me, but he looks to be exactly the kind of player needed in today's game. What's his deal, can he just not shoot? Why has he bounced around?
Any chance he's an extended Carlisle project?

He hasn't bounced around, we are literally his second team tbh. But yeah his shot is just putrid

What? He's the second leading scorer in the game on 5-6 shooting.

He's a good defender, historically bad shooter. I think one year his 3 point percentage was in the teens IIRC.

Has an ugly shot that is ineffective but a great defender.
His defense is the primary reason why we cut Broekoff.

That's what I mean he's playing like a star. He's making what the minimum so someone forgot to tell him he's supposed to suck becaues he's balling.

Oh, really? Thanks, I didn't know. I remember him being a lottery pick, but I thought that was a while ago. I guess I just assumed he was a journeyman since they got him off the street for cheap.
I hope they keep him for a while. They have a long history of scoring with disappointing players like him.

Well, one thing we've learned this series is that this team doesn't have an ounce of quit in them. The next decade should be a great time to be a Mavericks fan.

if Burke isn't on this team next season...
I mean, this is all good and fun, but it's rather pointless without KP. Not sure it's worth risking Luka either with KP out, but at least we're still in it.

It’s just tough to keep a 6’7” player on the court who can’t hit from the outside. If anybody can find a spot for him, it’s Carlisle, though. Nellie would probably randomly start him.
