Hey...Best was due! ;] We'll see...more often than not I think he'll have weeks like the previous 3. But he certainly has the ability to bust through on occasions.
Chum, I like Heyward. I actually wanted to pick him up this past weekend, but he got gobbled up before I could. I'd take a flyer on him if you've got room. He's seeing more looks each week and he's arguably their #1 WR at this point. I can't believe Cruz was cut by someone. I snagged him in my other league the day after his 1st monster game. Boy, Mario Mannigham must not like the guy.
This bozo in my league (in last place) offered me a trade today of:
Matt Ryan
Mike Thomas
for
Stafford
Sidney Rice
Yes...because I want to downgrade at both positions? Some people.

Heyward-Bey? I already grabbed him. Our league is no waivers, so grab as you like. I watched that game on Sunday, and I saw enough. I cut Denarious Moore for Heyward-Bey.
I also cut Plaxico for Jason Avant, and Stevan Ridley for Tim Tebow. I know that someone like Ridley is getting cut for a QB in my bye week, so I might as well take the upside potential on Tebow. Oh, and I also cut Addai for Marshawn Lynch.
So now I am rolling with:
QB: Cam / Tebow
WR: Miles / Jackson / Stevie / Heyward-Bey / Avant
RB: Foster / Greene / Best / Lynch
TE: Graham / Gronkowski
The guy who cut Cruz is an idiot. As is the guy who offered you Ryan and Thomas.

Not a fan of non-waiver leagues. But if that's the rule in your league, you have to take advantage, as you did.

How do you guys like Heyward-Bey this week against Cleveland?
I'm basically stuck having to start him in two different 3 WR leagues because I have V-Jax/N.Washington on bye in one league and V-Jax/Bowe on bye in the other... I'm so thin at the position in both leagues (because I front-loaded) that I'd have to turn to the waiver wire for a different option.
I really like what I've seen from the kid in the past two weeks, but Cleveland is a different animal than Houston or New England. I'm less worried about Heyward-Bey's ability to make big plays than I am about Jason Campbell's chances of actually getting the ball to him... But maybe I'm overrating the Browns defense?

I don't know much about the Cleveland defense. But I wouldn't worry about that factor. Oakland is going to move the ball, I would think, resulting in plenty of opportunities. If Campbell keeps targeting DHB like he has been lately, I think he will return a nice line for you. I'd roll the dice with him, rather than worry about adjusting the roster and taking a flier on a waiver receiver. You rostered him for a reason, right? You may not love the matchup, but this is where you need him, given your bye situations.

Nobody.
I start 3 WRs in both leagues (1 PPR):
12-team league - Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, Vincent Jackson (bye), Nate Washington (bye), Darrius Heyward-Bey
10-team league - Dwayne Bowe (bye), Jeremy Maclin, Vincent Jackson (bye), Robert Meachem, Darrius Heyward-Bey

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more comfortable I am with starting Heyward-Bey. He appears to be settling into the #1 WR role, which is better than waiver wire options like Walter, Avant or Jenkins... I am a tad interested in Laurent Robinson, but only because I think the Cowboys offense is going to feast on the Pats D enough to where our #3 WR could actually have some value, especially considering the likelihood of a shootout. But I'll probably stick with DHB, since he'll have more targets and redzone opportunities.

I think Robinson is going to be a very nice player for the Cowboys. But with Miles back, he is clearly the #3. Crayton never had much fantasy value in that spot (even while being a valuable player). I could see you taking a flier on Robinson on the off chance that Austin and Bryant don't come back at 100%. But I'm not seeing it. Miles is probably going to be the slot guy, and get targeted all the time.
I've never been convinced enough to take a stab at Walter. Avant I like better than Robinson, but I'll take DHB over both of them. Gamble on the WR1 potential, would be the idea.

yeah, saints are all over the place in terms of receptions for WR (in addition to following saints closely, i also have Lance Moore...)
Graham is clearly the go-to guy, Colston is back, then you have Moore/Henderson/Meachem/Sproles all getting targets. Brees spreads the ball around so well. It's like the situation in Green Bay - if you don't have jennings or finley, it's a crapshoot.
In fact, i just picked up heyward-bey for that very reason. With byes for bowe (and AJ injured), i don't feel comfortable starting Moore (we start 3 WR as well). I almost picked up garcon last week, but he burned me so bad last year, so i avoided him.

I'm totally rolling the dice on Meachem - he's definitely a feast or famine player, but even his "bad" days have been fairly decent (I got 9 points out of him last week in the flex). Between him, Avant or Robinson, I still think Meachem has the most upside, especially since he's technically the #2 WR on his team, while Avant and Robinson are clearly #3's... Also, Meachem gets Tampa Bay, whereas someone like Avant has to go up against Washington's stout defense.
Luckily I won't have to play him again after this week (barring injury!)
EDIT: plus knowing that I have Cam Newton, Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Arian Foster, Jermichael Finely and the Ravens defense filling out the rest of my roster in that league helps me sleep a little better at night...

please tell me that was an auction league and people just didn't want to pay. Cause if you got Rice/Foster/Forte in a snake draft... you must be playing in a 5 team league.
or is it a keeper format of some kind?

It was a snake draft, but Rice and Foster were keepers and I got Forte in a trade that sent out Felix Jones and Ochocinco before Week 1 (yep!)

5-0
It's the D-M league (I'm the defending Super Bowl champ), and BG has sole possession of 2nd place at 4-1 (he has Brady, Megatron, Jennings, A.J. Green, Bradshaw, J.Graham, etc...)

Rice and Foster are both unquestionable Top 10 picks...and at no point in time would Felix & Ocho ever, even close to be considered a good trade.

Ha ha, horse fielding 8 teams!
Ok, keeper makes sense, and forte I can understand. I personally love the guy (I target him every year in my non-keeper auction league), but most draft rankings had him outside the top 10 RBs. Great trade for you - forte for felix and a WR before week 1 isn't so bad for either party - except not Ochocinco. .
Of course hindsight is 20/20 and you obviously got the better end of the deal.

I only drafted Ocho because I knew this guy was REAL high on him. It also helped that he's a Cowboys homer who thought Felix would be a top-5 RB this season. I had to gouge, I just couldn't help myself.
I actually had Forte on this team last year, so it was good to get him back in the rotation.

Frank Gore & Roddy White.
He also drafted Fred Jackson, which probably took some of the sting out of losing Forte...

Well, not necessarily every week (though they've both been great), but this week in particular. They combined for 5 TDs and something like 250 total yards. This week was a cake walk for me, next week should be too (which is nice since I've had some byes for guys this week & next).

Oh yeah, Heyward-Brey had a solid game today...but it looks like his productivity might suffer with Boller at the helm.

yeah i knew he was out for a while. Just wondering how much of the game Heyward-Bey had with Boller at the helm.
I saw highlights, campbell went down at halftime, essentially. Was trying to figure out how many receptions DHB had in second half. Not finding any site that breaks the stats down like that, though.

Okay, I think Brey will be just fine. A healthy, integrated Palmer is actually better than Campbell IMO (assuming he can form a report with Brey).

This is just a gut reaction, no stats to back it up, but Palmer doesn't strike me as the most accurate QB for medium to long range passes. I mean, isn't that what the Raiders are ultimately looking for based on their speedsters?
Either way, I love the move for Oakland (hey, they're not my draft picks). I can definitely see them making the playoffs.

I don't think it's really about accuracy. Instead, I think it's about what guy can actually *make* the medium to long range pass. You've got to survive in the pocket for a little while to make a long-range pass. It takes some savvy.
And then there's all the other stuff, too. NFL QB is a really, really hard job. It's like Parcells said...you don't just dial 1-800-QUARTERBACK. That's why (in my opinion) the criticism of Romo is so off the mark. Who do you want instead, you know? Carson Palmer?
That said, I love the move for Oakland. They have certainly proven that their first-round draft choices are worth much less than a bird in the hand.

It's going to be interesting to see how he does. No one really knows how good he's going to be based on a ton of variables. They'd love to have him be the peak Palmer, but I have a feeling they'll get something in the range of Campbell or slightly better...which works for them.

Yeah...I saw that earlier today. I went ahead and replaced him with Gould, since he is on bye next week even if the hammy is okay. Man, it is a rough week for me. I am playing the guy I am tied for first with, and I have all kinds of issues. Best is out (and one report today says his people want to shut him down for the year...egh), VJax is on Revis Island, Graham has been gimpy, DHB has no QB to throw to him. Just all kinds of trouble.
Who should I play in the flex? I have these starters:
QB - Newton (Tebow also on the roster)
WR - Miles, VJax
RB - Foster, Greene
TE - Graham
available to play:
RB Lynch
RB Morris (Detroit)
WR Heyward-Bey
Should it be Lynch?

Yikes, that is a tough one...I think you're right to go with Lynch. He is coming off B2B TD weeks, and Whitehurst is starting (not that Jackson is way better, but still), so they might rely heavier on the run.
I like Jano, so I cut the Browns RB Hardesty to pick up Booth in the interim. I've got Willis McG starting this week since Bradshaw has a bye. Fortunately my opp. is a cellar dweller, so I should be gravy regardless.

How are you doing this week, Cad?
I went ahead and played Mercury Morris for Lynch, which was a good thing since Lynch didn't even play. I'd still have been better off playing DHB...but how can you know?
Foster did me right. I should win, but I will still have to sweat some things tonight and tomorrow.
