Walker scored 3 baskets close to junk time when the lead was in double figures.
Congratulations Antoine "clutch" Walker.

Don't be so mean.
I'm not delusional...I know Walker had a very awful game tonight but hey! We WON and that's what matters in the end.

RE: Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
If memory serves, those baskets stopped a run.
Max, it was a typical mavs/pups game. pretty close, teams alternately making runs...and you missed our mediocre team move up to 6-3 agains the rest of the big 5 and only 1/2 game behind denver.

Toine hit those buckets to stem a dangerous Wolves run. We needed his production down the stretch.

That was totally sarcastic, but it is true that he stepped up for a few minutes down the stretch. He held the lead in double figures for more than a few minutes which kept back the Minnesota comeback.

What I think Walker should do to make this Mavs team more effective :
1.) Let Dirk shoot more
2.) Let Nash shoot more
3.) Let Finley Shoot more

Cool. I'm glad the Mavs did well.
The Cowboy game stunk though.

RE:Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
Does Walker struggle against Minny because he has the better defender(Garnnett) on him because Garnett can't guard Dirk due to the possibility of foul trouble?

The Mavs are a mediocre team. They almost blew the game tonight because of their nonexistent defense. If they hadn't been on fire offensively, we would have been blown out. Minnesota scored much more inside than we did. Jamison did have a respectable defensive game on Garnett, however.

RE:Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
KG has some UNBELIEVABLE hops. They showed a highlight on sportscenter of him getting a rebound over Dirk and it looked like he was going to jump out of the building. He is an incredible athlete. But Dirk has a superior offensive game IMO. KG is an oppurtunistic scorer but he isn't a great guy for running plays at the end of a game which is what wins tight games.

Yep, Dirk's 31/9/4 and better efficentcy rating on 10-15 shooting was blown away by KG's 11-28 shooting and only 27 points.

This game further epitomizes are issues, mainly Nellie. How can Dirk be allowed to only get 15 shots, 2 in the 4th, when he shoots 10-15, yet Walker can go 5-14, Nash can go 7-16, its just unacceptable. Dirk was unguardable, yet we continue to ignore him, this crap has gotten ridiculous.

I watched finley tonight and he cold have faked and taken the ball to the basket all night. Any relegation of finley is his own doing. He surely hit a lot of them however.

Got to love Walker's 6 boards, soon Dirk should pass him in boards. Only one more assist then the Diggler too. The Deutchman alway's (except last game) brings his A game to KG, I taped it b/c I was at the Panthers game, Im looking forward to watching it.

Walk's boardwork the last couple games has been subpar. I was sort of hoping he would at least snap out of that part of his mini-slump tonight, but no luck. Hopefully he'll get back to form soon.

RE:Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
The wolves played zone almost the whole game. They really stink defensively, that's why they play zone so much.
The mavs really had the game in hand with almost 7 minutes to go, up 20, the wolves were done. I really liked the lineup of dirk/stevie/finley/jamison and forston. I hoped that nellie would have left that one out there. I thought that lineup played well and was pretty stout defensively.
Walker continues to be an enigma to me. It "seems" he's a tough player but he sure isn't usually willing to take a hit getting to the basket, a few tough plays tonight.

RE:Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
The following is not mine but very interesting to say the least :
Quote:
Despite his clutch shooting in the fourth () Walker again struggles against MIN. What gives? It's not just because he doesn't do well in the second night of back-to-backs. In the second night of back-to-backs EXLUDING MIN, Walker's stats are as follows:
22-54 FG, 2-13 3PT, 2-3 FT, 4ST, 3BL, 15TO, 39REB, 11AST, 48PTS
40.7%, 15.4%, 66.7%, 1.3ST, 1BL, 5TO, 13REB, 3.7AST, 16PTS a game on second night of back-to-backs NOT MIN (LAL/GSW, WAS/TOR, CHI/PHX)
Slightly worse, but not tremendously so.
Against MIN, his stats are as follows:
13-42 FG, 1-12 3PT, 1-8 FT, 2ST, 2BL, 8TO, 22REB, 14AST, 28PTS
31.0% FG, 8.3% 3PT, 12.5% FT, .7ST, .7BL, 2.7TO, 7.3REB, 4.7AST, 9.3PTS a game
Horrible.
Anyway, great win. 6-3 now against the big five--only LAL are better.

I simply cannot believe the lack of shot attempts especially for Dirk in this game and also for Finley.
Yes, the Mavs won the game, but when Dirk and fin were on fire late in the third, they had trouble getting the damn ball.

RE: Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
Erica, the only reason he was hired was because they wanted to stop the stereotyping by people that only former players and ex-coaches get jobs as commentators and analysts. Even though he does make me laugh, they could've found someone better.
I can take criticism from Lambieer and Greg Anthony, but not Kevin Frazier and Stephen Smith.

They didn't do a darn thing to deny Fin/Dirk the ball, and that scares me. Minnesota had 6'7 Trenton Hassell on Dirk the whole night. They stopped Finley from penetrating, but not the ball.

Not sure exactly what you're referring to here. The last Bucks game he was invisible, but in the first meeting he went for 22 and 14 with 4 assists and 1 TO. The game before he had a poor scoring night, but had 10 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and only 2 TO's. The one before that he went for 23 and 12. I would like for Nellie to reign in his three point shooting a bit more, because most nights he is a much more efficient two point shooter, but I think you're being too hard on him.

RE:Mavs vs. Timberwolves Game Day
when he had to highlight Dirk for "Ballers of the Night" all he said was that Dirk was really ugly and that his dunk wasnt correct and how he didnt jump very high. And when they ran over the Timberwolves game Smith just kept talking about how bad the Timberwolves are. It would have been too much to ask for him to congratulate the Mavs or at least hint that maybe he was wrong when he said we werent an elite team. We are now 6-3 versus the elite 4.
