Maybe he's thinking he'll have Kidd chase Wade early and have Stevenson come in late. That wouldn't be a horrible idea.

Easiest win in finals history. I almost feel bad for them.

Carlisle finally showing up as a scrub coach he is. It took him awhile in this years playoffs to push the panic button. But it would eventually happen.

The more I think about this it's not a terrible idea.
Stevenson could be an excellent defensive stopper late in the game. Could be huge.
This only backfires if we have a terrible first quarter. Fingers crossed...

Not sure why you think Stevenson would play late. Carlisle's not benching JET or Kidd.

Maybe some well maneuvered JJ drives could help push the Heat into foul trouble early. If he can take his man off the dribble and force Bosh to slide over and help in the paint maybe we can tag Bosh with a couple early PFs.

It is a terrible idea. We need Kidd fresh early in the game. Not guarding Wade. He can't guard Wade anyways as proven by last game. And what makes you think Stevenson will come back later in the game when Carlisle obviously prefers Terry? It's a panic button on saying we need to score more but it actually could hurt our offensive rhythm at the same time. You gotta credit Miami's defense for our struggles but it's not like we didn't get good shots. It is more of having off games than anything. Stevenson 6/9 on 3's this series has been a real plus. It is mind boggling that Carlisle blames him for our offensive struggles.

True. Well, it frees up Stevenson to play later in the game. Maybe, just maybe, it'll help us avoid getting down 15.

Mavs were up early with Stevenson last game, Carlisle recognizes it also..

I think it's a good idea to stagger Stevenson and Marion, especially if Brewer's ass is stapled to the bench. It's when they're both out we're vulnerable to the likes of a JJB/Jet/Peja swing combo.
I can see the Cardinal move. Cardinal can hit the open 3 and D it up better than Peja. Playing Cardinal keeps Marion at the 3 exclusively to help with the swings. The moves give us better defense at 3 and more starting offense.
Kidd 36/JJB 12
JJB 8/JET 34/Stevenson 6
Marion 38/Stevenson 10
Dirk 40/Cardinal 8
Center rotation
Seems kinda wonky but it could help. I would've made two tweaks. Most importantly, I would've liked to seen JET start as his backup role is preventing him from playing 2nd/3rd best player on a team in the Finals type minutes (Hollinger has pointed this out). Less confidently, I would've considered keeping Marion in his normal 3/4 role and playing Brewer in place of Peja.
Kidd 36/JJB 12
JET 38/Stevenson 10
Marion 30/Brewer 10/Stevenson 8
Dirk 40/Marion 8
Center rotation

I think starting JJ is a great idea. Him on Bibby is a great match-up for us. He rattled him early in the second half last game on offense AND defense. Bibby just doesn't have the ability to get by him.

Bibby vs JJB
Wade vs Kidd
LBJ vs Marion
Bosh vs Dirk
Anthony vs Chandler
It could work....

This is very weird, very, very weird. I like Cardinal over Peja if Peja's going to keep not hitting anything at all. He really can't be relied upon this series.

Yep. That's why I see this move more designed to get Stevenson minutes in the third quarter...to avoid massive deficits later in the game.

I would rather us go out naturally with the lineup that gives us the best chance. Not some coach panicking and hurting us even more with his love for small guards.

Look at this way...Barea is basically going to play no matter what.
Would you rather have him play early or late?
