Wouldn't matter. If we do lose we get a top pick, with Barnes and Dirk still ready for next season. Either way there's no tanking that's going to happen.

Start the countdown to the next JJ on this team....Josh Jackson
I wouldn't mind losing like this so much if we were losing like this with young players. Four of our guys finishing the game are in their 30s so that makes it hard to swallow.

Don't understand having five smaller perimeter guys in on the final play when the only way to win is with a tip-in.

We lost before that. We lost when the refs decided to serve home cooking and treat Hrdrn like Wade in 2006.

Is it tanking if we are actually trying to win?

Its sad that we miss 38 year old Dirk.
Wes needs to find his shot.
Curry needs to play better.
Im liking Deron and JJ so far but they cant create all our offense.
Barnes still finding his place but def not a reliable 1st option.

I think Harden is ruining the NBA.
And we get another season of watching Matthews brick shots.

I'm a sad little troll and I know the Rockets suck and will never make it to the finals with Harden. I also think caps lock is cruise control, but deep down I really know I'm lame. I just want to be honest

We obviously miss Dirk but I'm going to throw some love at Harris. We are getting next to nothing form the bench and Harris usually finds ways to make an impact in games like this.

I see Powell finally having some value once Harris returns. He loves running pick and rolls with athletic bigs.
So far this year Powell has been pretty terrible, so I welcome any adjustment that can be made that turns him into a productive player. I was totally in favor of his contract when I heard about it, but right now I'd rather see Mejri and Acy getting those minutes.

It is not much value if it is shown only with other bench player. I have been most disappointed with Powell's performance so far. No clue what exactly he has tried to improve on his game and seems more like a tradeable asset to me.

There is no way we are going to tank, but we absolutely should be. The 2017 draft is shaping up to be a legendary one. There are like 8-10 prospects that could turn into bonafide superstars. Now we know that this will not happen - all of them panning out -, de the depth is ridiculous. Even if we don't nab a top 5 pick, we could find a gem around 6-7-8. At 15-16? I don't think so. Do we even have our pick, btw? I think we do.

Powell has almost all of the attributes you want in a PF....height, athleticism, IQ, hustle, attitude, energy, coordination, some skills, etc.... but I've never seen so much exerted energy yield so little as I do watching him.
I called him a mystery man at the beginning of the season and I still wonder what his role will be this season. Mejri, if healthy, simply has to be the first guy off the bench playing center....he was making a difference in the paint. I actually think Rick could see some success with small ball if Mejri is manning the lane.

I think Wes' three ball is permanently shot, btw. Take a look at this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEV0I8jPn9U
He had much better lift. He doesn't have the same lift anymore. He will have occasional big nights, like that 10-three night against the Wizards, but I'm afraid his consistency is gone for good. I don't think that sucking at something a year straight, something that you were previously elite at, can be called a slump.

Powell is a guy that has all the gifts, he even has the shooting motion, but the results are just not there. He should be an excellent player based on his physical skills alone, but he just can't seem to figure it out.

I see no reason to start talking tank this early but I will say there are no circumstances in which the pick we do have should be traded for anyone not named Davis or Cousins.

I've also noticed that he has difficulty in separating himself from defenders off the ball making any chances of getting an uncontested shot very slim. Hell, he made Harden look like a lockdown defender.
Wes looks like a 36yo player out there and it is a sad thing to watch at times.
He did look better in the 2nd half though.

Yeah, it was the achilles injury that turned a very skilled all-time great like Bryant - who should have aged gracefully like Duncan and Dirk - into the worst volume perimeter scorer in the history of the NBA. He would probably never admit it, but I think this was why he retired. Achilles robs you like few other injuries, if you are a basketball player.

I suffered with Achilles issues through HS and beyond. My favorite two sports to play are basketball and tennis and had to give both up (at least competitively) because of those issues.
I feel for the guy because he will probably never be the same and will suffer with that problem the rest of his life.
If he plays soft to prevent the injury he won't be able to do much and could become a liability. If he goes hard he'll just tear it again....damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
Now that I'm old it isn't a big deal but it will most likely cut his NBA career short.

Our Vets are too old and play too much. Our young guys are too young and aren't given enough meaningful opportunities, especially considering we will only go as far as our depth and coaching take us. 3 shots for Curry, 25 for Wes. No Curry didn't look good, but how is anyone supposed to find a rhythm with three shots?
This team is basically exactly what it looks like on paper. I know we're trying to transition to a younger squad while maintaining our winning ways, but who exactly has been able to do that successfully other than the Spurs? Either Dirk and Harris come back and we continue to rely on the aging half of our roster for mediocre results, or we decide we're going limit veteran minutes and figure out who is truly a long-term piece of the puzzle.

Wes can't shoot 25 times in a game. He certainly can't shoot 15 3's when his shot is that off also. I think Barnes started the game 3-4 with 6 points, got 2 fouls and got subbed out with around 2min left in the first. He came back and played half of the 2nd and only had 2 shot attempts. Then he played majority of the 3rd and had 1 shot attempt. Worse than the attempts was how little he even touched the ball. I don't know if that's on him for not being more aggressive, the guys on the floor for not getting him involved or RC for not calling plays for him. It would be one thing if he came into the game shooting like he did in preseason or if he laid a giant egg in the first. But he's coming off a 31 point game vs this same exact team and started 3-4 before fouls took him out. The fact that he played 28 more mins after that and got up all of 7 shots, 4 of them in the 4th where nobody had any rhythm, and hardly touched the ball on top of that makes no sense to me.
It's clear we are searching for an identity and not having Dirk doesn't help. But it blows my mind that Wes is spending what has to be a ton of mental and physical energy guarding Harden, doing a great job all game and is a huge positive on that end. But he's shooting 25 shots on top of that, 15 of them being 3's, making his offense a huge negative. I don't think it's entirely on him, it really looked like nobody wanted the ball and those that got it didn't want to shoot it so everyone on the floor and the coach deserve some blame for that. Both games we seem to force feed the ball to the guy who Harden is guarding once he has gotten in foul trouble and both times it has backfired. I get wanting to seize an opportunity and get him off the floor but I felt it put the entire offense out of rhythm doing it and the other night it was when we did this that Houston pulled away. Ariza was on Dwill so he was having problems getting his offense going, you would think the logical play would be to throw it to the Barnes vs Anderson mismatch because he can at least get a quality look whenever he wants vs Anderson or cause the defense to help which would lead to a much better shot than Wes creating for himself. We didn't go back to it till essentially the 4th where it was clear he no longer was in rhythm and both teams had tightened up defensively.
Just a very frustrating loss, no reason to panic we all knew we would start slow and the defense was better tonight but this team needs an identity and my fear is we truly may not have one with so little playmaking on the team. And no Parsons would not be the answer in that department(incase someone wants to bring that topic up again), Felton if anything is missed more for that.

If things go downhill fast, then I wonder what sort of adjustments Rick will make. Players don't look comfortable in the offense, and that has been an issue for a while.
And you have to wonder if he is doggin' the young guys. I just don't understand how Curry can light it up in the preseason only to go 0-3 in 24 minutes? What? That is a severe confidence issue for a guy that shouldn't have issues shooting.
This is not me blaming coach for everything by any means, but the team should be a lot better than this.
