Someone mentioned on twitter about Porter going off on us. Pretty sorry to let a guy coming off a broken foot to have this kind of game...

Brunson and Powell are both defensive liabilities
You could make an argument that injuries were a blessing in disguise for KP and Curry
If they were playing they would get plenty of bad feedback on here
I actually don't mind either one of them missing games

Boban and WCS only work at the center position, and only when KP isn't dominating it... Other than Maxi, we really don't have another player that can slide into the 4 -- that's why we go small with guys like DFS, MKG, and Jackson (to varying degrees of disappointing results).
Donnie has a bit of work to do this offseason.

I agree with you. That's why several of us have been calling for the WCS/KP, Boban/Maxi pairings, and closing with KP/Maxi, but those are only possibilities if all 4 are available, and with only 2 of that 4 playing tonight, it's a tall order. I still think we've got a shot at this if Boban and Maxi have enough gas to play the remainder of the game together. Just gotta quit it with the stupid turnovers and the Bulls not to shoot lights out from 3.

It would be really helpful if Delon would break out some of his aggressiveness and attack the rim.

But KP is thriving at center, why would you move him back to PF to accommodate WCS? That doesn't make us better.

I hear you, and I'm not having a go at you or anything. It just makes one wonder if the same standard would be held in years past to one of RCs pets like Powell or Messley tbh. My guess is a resounding no

While I agree with you that he has looked markedly better lately playing the 5, 2 things I'd point out: 1. We've been playing some pretty bad teams, and he's looked really good. 2. Come playoff time, we're going to need 2 bigs on the floor if we play the Lakers or the Clippers, so our roster is going to dictate that he play the 4 some if we're going to make that happen - assuming RC goes that route, which I suspect he won't. He'll go down swinging with small ball with KP at the 5 is my guess. KP/Maxi is perfect, but they can't play 48 minutes together, and Bobi/WCS doesn't work due to what you've already pointed out.
Your points are valid. I just hope that RC tries various combinations besides just small ball going down the stretch here, so we have some more combos that he feels comfortable using. I think we'll get rolled in a 7 game series against the Lakers or Clips playing KP at 5 with small ball. Just my .02.
Edit: How about one more playoff run big German. ;-) We desperately need a stretch 4.

I’m not even mad at any of the roster. I’m only mad at the offensive philosophy of RC. It’s unsustainable and only works for teams with elite talent i.e. golden state with 3 of the greatest shooters of all time. Sorta works for Houston. That’s it. But hey keep running out small lineups.

This team sucks at FTs, especially in the clutch.

What proof do you have if it's never been tried?
Seems like every small ball lineup combination has been tried and experimented with to see if something works with the roster. But all our big lineup options are immediately dismissed and labeled a failure without even being tried.
WCS would essentially play D.Powell role even if it's just for 12-16 mpg
There is no rule that says you still can't run set plays for KP just because you have WCS on the floor
They ran set plays for Dirk with Tyson playing the 5
It's all about coaching and being able to adjust.

Who says they don't try this shit in practice constantly? You act like Rick is a little league coach who just can't think as big as you.

Practice isn't the same as a game. There are some things the Mavs just can't simulate, especially with their roster. It's not deep enough, and they don't have some of the component pieces to be able make a fair evaluation playing against in practice.

Yeah, but if it sucks in practice, it's gonna suck even worse in a game.
