In all seriousness, this is one of the top movie scenes of my child hood. Can you name a previous movie that encapulates exactly what we would do in the same situation with the same circumstances? Yet, it seems so freaking genius when he does it.... If so, let me know...

I saw National Treasure 2 two nights ago. Well.... I saw about 30 minutes of it before leaving my wife to watch the rest of it while I went to reading.
Last night I saw Iron Man. Now that was entertainment. Cheesy in places yes, but Downey Jr. is good at that.

Did you go that new AMC 12?

I did not. I went with a group of guys from my church... all of us but one live in the Highland Shores/Highland Village area.... but some how that one (that lives down off of 3040) got to pick the theater. So it was at the Vista Ridge mall theater. That one is nice also. I took my girls to see some movie at the new one sometime when it first opened (can't remember which movie). And yes, it is a nice theater.

The video's not coming up for me, but I assume it's the scene from temple of doom where he just shoots the guy after he shows off his sword skillz.
I read (or heard) that the script originally called for Indy to engage the guy with his whip and really fight. But Ford, who had a case of Montezuma's revenge, said "why don't I just shoot the guy?".
Genius.

Yes, raiders. There's a similar scene in temple, if I recall. I haven't watched temple in a while, but watched raiders a few weeks ago.

Yeah, as for the link, youtube videos sometimes never come up at my office. I got to the page fine. Nothing was wrong with the link.

yes, thank you. he has this smirk on his face like he's gonna do the exact same thing he does in Raiders. He reaches for his gun, and it's not there. then, if i recall, he runs in the opposite direction.

Nah - that's Han Solo...
Indy reaches for his gun, discovers it's not there, then a "f*ck it" look comes across his face and he decks one swordsmen while he grabs the other's sword hand........... then a bunch of CG monkeys swoop in and throw him into a refrigerator so he'll survive a nuclear explosion that has something to do with the aliens who have stopped by the planet Earth to ruin the Indiana Jones franchise (upon further review - Temple of Doom is MUCH better than Kingdom of the CG Skull...)

It has its moments (more than Crystal Skull...)
I wish Spielberg would release a version with the blond chick edited out of the movie (or at least put her on "mute" and edit in a boob shot or 10...)

Watched "No country for old men" again tonight. This is a movie I liked so much better the second time. I hated it in the theater, but actually kinda dig it now.

Netflix Selection #8-#10 - Indiana Jones Trilogy
my overall rating: 9
dang these movies are good. I'm ashamed to say I had never seen The Lost Ark. I don't think there has ever been anyone as badass as Harrison Ford. The guy just oozes cool... makes Clooney look like a dweeb in comparison. I think Temple of Doom is very underrated. Short Round was really funny to me and I think it was good overall.

I have no problems with any of the trilogy. The bridge scene in TOD is worth the whole movie.

Just watched Donnie Darko all the way to the end a couple of nights ago. Not bad, but it felt like Bizarro NCfOM (sleep inducing beginning and end, as opposed to NCfOM's intensity, and awesome ending to NCfOM's non-existant ending, so to speak).

yeah, the bridge scene was great, and ShortRound could be one of the best sidekicks in cinema history.

Dog Day Afternoon! pretty great. Al Pacino in his prime was in the top 3 actors ever. Now, he still does good movies, but he never has stellar performances.

TOD is scary when you are a little kid and hearts get pulled out of crazy freaky looking people.

For those wanting to buy the Indiana Jones Trilogy, let me suggest this box set over the new one that just came out. The new one doesn't even compare in my opinion. A friend of mine got it and we went through it. Here is the one to buy if you don't already have it:
The Adventures of Indiana Jones
Now if you already own this set then for the hard core you can get the new one
Indiana Jones: The Adventure Collection
It does have some new stuff on it. But, all the new stuff doesn't compare to the 2 hour documentary you get with the "brown" box set.
Anyway, every once in awhile I like to contribute, since I am getting paid by the post.

I watched Capote last night.. I LOVED it. I actually have a couple of movies that i've bought but haven't watched yet. Munich and The Mist. I'm not really a big fan of Stephen King, so I'm not too sure about The Mist. I've heard both movies are good, so we'll see.

National Treasure 2 - terrible, I actually enjoyed the first movie, but this one was just stupid.
Lions for Lambs - short, had my full attention, pretty good overall.

Watched 3:10 to Yuma last night. I thought it was GREAT. and i'm not even a huge western fan. Crowe, Bale, and Foster had me glued to the screen. Love what happened to Keamy...

that's one of my favorites. And one of the few where you can say the remake is lightyears beyond the original.

For those of you that liked this movie a lot (my ex-girlfriend "LOVES" this movie), you're probably thinking that I just don't "get" it. I get it alright... I just don't like it very much.

I've watched a couple of the "Cube" movies. "The Cube" and "Cube Zero". Pretty good stuff for low budget, trippy, sci-fi. I missed a sequel before viewing the prequel, I think, but Cube Zero is quite a bit better than "The Cube"
Does anyone else get a bunch of unplayable dvd's from netflix? This week, I couldn't watch "Employee of the Month"

Based on many recommendations I watched the whole Firefly series this weekend. It started off slow..but once I got into it..it is hilarious and very good. Reminded me of the anime "Cowboy Bebop" in the Western Scifi genre.
I am now downloading Serenity.
They need to un-cancel the series..pronto.
