A veteran pg is badly needed. I could go for any of those mentioned. I have no idea what Nico and co. are thinking, but right now it seems like a head scratcher if you sign Dorsey. I mean Hardy, Dorsey, Green, and Pinson? None in that group have demonstrated they can contribute on the court in the NBA. Well, maybe Green in flashes during the regular season.

As much as people are saying our biggest need is PG,
I?d be okay living dangerously and depending on Hardy

1) Luka

4) Bertans

7) Powell

9) Kleber
10) McGee

13) Pinson
14) Frank

16) Bingham
17) Dorsey
Dorsey got a two-way deal apparently and Frank/Kleber became guaranteed. Certainly looking like Wright and Bingham will fight for the last two-way. It also looks like we now have a roster spot open. Am I missing anyone?

Looks good to me. Glad Dorsey is a two-way. That makes more sense.

I mean, I think we're depending on him either way, but we gotta have a Luka get's injured insurance signing more than anything.

I'm with those who want to see Hardy fn play. Out of the greenhorns, he is the closest to reaching a level of potential that will contribute. That includes Josh Green.

How much confidence does the FO have in Frankie smokes after his good play down the stretch? He could very well see increased minutes as the (or "a") backup PG...

I thought about that too. I think he can play it in a pinch, but is he really the plan? If so, I hope Shamgod locked themselves in a gym this summer to work on his handles.

And look what you get for the 37th pick. Just draft better.
We've been conditioned by Rick that rookies won't play, and no doubt, Hardy would get zero minutes under him.
Not Kidd. Kidd will give him every opportunity to succeed.

As an All American guard, Kidd has gone through the process and knows what the kid has been through. I think Kidd can have an impact on Hardy on and off the court.

Take it with a grain of salt, but THJ for Brown get er done Nico?
Former Super Bowl XXXVI Champion with the New England Patriots Jermaine Wiggins, a regular on the Greg Hill Morning Show and the Gresh and Keefe mid-day show on sports radio WEEI in Boston, recently claimed that Jaylen Brown told him that he wants out of Beantown and being Jayson Tatum?s sidekick with the Boston Celtics.

Unless he?s playing in like Indiana or Sacramento he?s always going to be someone?s sidekick.

Not if they trade him for KD, he was probably be the man in Brooklyn with Ben Simmons and disinterested in basketball Kyrie.

Call me crazy, but I'd take Brown over Tatum provided Brown is healthy. I personally believe Tatum is the most overrated player in the league.
Anyway, no way they do Brown for THJ, but I assume you were joking.

Brunson as a second round pick averaged 22 min per game his rookie season. He started 38 games. He was a seasoned college player though, so not comparable to Hardy. If Kidd chooses not to give a player who has barely played any basketball outside of high school much burn, I?m not going to fault him.
I don?t know how any of us can even have an opinion on how much this guy will or should play at this time.

Hardy is why I keep trading 1st rounders. I mean I don't think you should give them away but if you are trading them for a starter with All Star potential? Its worth it. I don't think any player taken around where we were picking was as good as Wood. I can always either trade into the late 1st round or trade into the 2nd.

Tatum may be overrated but he also has the potential to be one of the best players in the league. His ceiling is so much higher than Brown's.....

I think Tatum is by far and away the best "#2" guy in the league. It was AD, but AD is never healthy anymore. All the talent in the world, and when he's "on" he's absolutely dominant, but seems to just be missing something as an alpha dog. He is the closest thing to Scottie Pippen there is today.
For that reason, if I could pair Luka with any player in the NBA, it would be Tatum. Give Luka an elite two-way wing that's capable of shutting down the opponent's best scorer and also can go off for 40 on any given night, and you'd have multiple championships.

Know it's been a handful of minutes in the first Summer League game, but are you sure? Good grief what a terrible start...

Good to see him slowing down. Maybe just super nervous to start. 3 really bad TOs and had a 3 blocked but he's slick in the paint (despite what doesn't appear to be a great vertical). Definitely talent there.

I think we all need to remember that the kid is probably going to be a long term project. I'm not saying he won't contribute at all this year, and the talent is definitely there, but still, he's not only jumping from high school to the NBA, he even missed his senior year because of covid. Unless you're Lebron, you're probably not going to be a stud right away. I expect him to improve over the course of the season, but I'm not sure we're going to see much from him at first.

Which was the point of my initial "are you sure" question to EL. i don't disagree with you, but man I hope he turns it on soon. We will need him as our roster is presently built.

Cuban spin job, but he took the high road with Jalen and the tampering thing so I kinda respect that.
I do believe him though that they weren't able to make an offer. That's a grey area thing that we might never fully know, but I just don't believe they wouldn't do 5/125.

Nico Harrison on Jalen Brunson: ?You hate to lose a player like that, especially as well as we did this year but we also prepared for it. I feel like we did a good job of preparing for it and protecting ourselves in case it did happen.?
Bingo.

Kidd stated that McGee and Dinwiddie are starting. That's cool. The other 3? Doncic, Finney-Smith, and Christian Wood? That is a big lineup. I hope it works. If THJ or Bullock start, then I wonder what will change.

So the best draft picks since Dirk was drafted we traded for. We did not initially have the draft picks that gave us Dirk Nowitzki, Devin Harris, or Luka Doncic. Who is the player we drafted with a draft pick we actually kept since trading down to acquire Dirk?
Without looking it up... I am guessing Josh Howard or Jalen Brunson.

Shams Charania: Taj Gibson plans to sign with the Washington Wizards once he clears waivers on Sunday, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Gibson was released today by New York and would give Washington an accomplished veteran big man. ? via Twitter ShamsCharania
So Taj was released.. I guess that means no SnT with Brunson?

Why is he announcing starters when team hasn?t even practiced. I?m going
McGee
Wood.
Bullock
Finney smith
Luka.
And eventually mcgee on bench unless other team has real center.

Lillard just got an extension worth 2 years 122 million dollars. That's over 60 million a season, pretty sure that's the highest yearly salary in all of sports.
Dame Lillard?s annual salary over the next five years:
2022-23 (age 32): $42.5 million
2023-24 (age 33): $45.6 million
2024-25 (age 34): $48.8 million
2025-26 (age 35): $58.5 million
2026-27 (age 36): $63.3 million

Just posted that in another thread, but that?s ridiculous. Can you imagine making $63 million dollars in 1 year?
I think Messi makes more and possibly Ronaldo. I?m sure a few boxers make more, but that?s different IMO. Crazy to think some guys make more in endorsements than they do their contract.

McGee starting is interesting. We should be a MUCH better rebounding team this year. Defense should still be really good, maybe better. It will be nice to have an actual shot blocker for once.
However, if you really wanna go with a "big" lineup with Wood at the 4, I'd rather see Maxi instead of McGee. With Maxi camping out on the 3 point line, I feel like Wood would absolutely feast on lob passes from Luka. McGee gives you almost nothing on offense outside of lobs and easy dunks. He's basically Powell on offense but at least can still protect the rim and rebound. I feel like he'll clog the paint and hinder Wood's effectiveness on the pick and roll, since Luka will have to split between the two of them.

I'm sure you'll see Wood with Maxi at times. I feel all of this stuff is fluid regardless of what they are telling us. Winning is all that matters.

I view it as akin to what the Rangers should have done with Nelson Cruz. Guy wanted to start in RF and Rangers said no, you?re a DH. So he signed with Baltimore who subsequently played him at DH way more than RF because everyone knew he wasn?t the best option there other than himself.
I think we sold McGee on starting and while there?s a chance he could stick, I could see it being very fluid as someone mentioned. Might be a situation where he starts but the overall minutes reflect an early and equal rotation with Maxi and Powell, if the latter is still here. Starter by honor type of deal just to get him in the door.
