Ok I originally posted this in an incredibly negative fashion.
However, I'd now like to re-issue this line in an incredibly positive fashion regarding the play Elvis just made. Hoooooly crap.

Not a good last few innings for Elvis after that spectacular play.
Oh well, just a reminder that he's freaking 21.

Last year, those were good wins. This year, we feel lucky to get through both of those after allowing multiple rallys and committing multiple errors.
Its a wonder what happens when you get to experience good pitching and defense for a change.
edit: Oh, and awesome win job Rangers, despite the nail-biting.

Yep. And 4.5 back of Anaheim with 7 games left against them.
It's still a long shot, I think, but they're definitely still very much in the hunt.

We may own the Angels, but you have to go 6-1 against them to make up those 4.5 games. They're going to have to start losing more often to teams not named the Texas Rangers. Or other teams just have to stop sucking the ever-living crap out of baseball whenever they see the Angels.

Keep in mind the Angels play a three game series against Boston before the season is over.
So one of those two teams is going to drop at least two games. If we take care of business while that series happens we could be in a position to leap frog Boston or put Anaheim squarely in our sites.
Also, starting Semptember 14th, here's what the Angels' schedule looks like:
@ NY for 1
@ Boston for 3
@ Texas for 3
Vs NY for 3
With no days off. That is nasty.

The Angels are 4-2 against both Boston and New York, and typically own the Yankees in recent history, so I'm not going to get my hopes up for many L's from them in that stretch.

Well even if that happens, as I said above, that means Boston picks up at least a couple losses. So good for us either way.

Let me start positive: The Rangers are destroying the Indians again. Yay.
However...CJ pitched twice yesterday. What on earth is he doing pitching in a 5-0 game during September when there are 1 billion pitchers on the roster?
What the hell Ron?

Feldman's road numbers now look like this: 12-1, 2.59 ERA.

Feldman was awesome again.
It is a joy watching that guy pitch. I'm curious as to what type of money situation he's pitching himself in to in the not too distant future.

Feldman has been absolutely amazing. His K Rate has gone through the roof the last couple months and he continues to make guys look stupid even when they're not striking out.
I absolutely love to watch him pitch. Just a fantastic story.

Feldman has put together the best pitching campaign for the Rangers since Ken Hill in 1996. That's 13 seasons. That also means he's had the best season of any Rangers pitcher this decade. Now, the standard is pretty low, but it's worth saying.

Hopefully the Rangers can be within 3 games when that stretch of 10 starts for the Angels...then we need to SWEEP the Angels and look to gain ground as we run away from the Angels for the Division!!!
Long and short, I believe it will be easier to win the Division than it will to wind the WC...heck we have more control of the Division than we do the WC...so let's go...23 games left in the regular season!!!
The last time I was this psyched was during the Mavericks Championship run...I remember being in Paris, watching the Mavs beat the Suns...then on the TV channel after the game, they had Metallica Live...nothing like that type of adrenaline with a flight back to the USA the next morning!!!
I hope we can see our Texas Rangers make that special run...can anyone imagine the Rangers taking us all the way to Stars and Mavs season...bypassing the Cowboys!!!
"Put me in coach, I'm ready to play....Centerfield!!!"

idk, boston plays 12 of they're last 20 against LAA, NYY, TOR, TB. so basically I think whoever comes out of the BOS/LAA series ruffed up, is who we'll be able to catch. I guess we should root for Boston to sweep LA, and then we handle our 7 against LAA too. if LAA buries BOS, then we have to root for Yanks and JAys to bury them too.
Bottom line, if we handle our business, I tihnk we can sneak in. no more series like the Bal one.

I expected a regression to what his peripherials were but this isnt even that. Hes just BOMBED. This is probably a direct result of his increased workload.

Get us in a position to run the table to close out the season!!!

I called the Rangers just now and told them it's just not working out.
I want to see other people. It's not them, it's me. And with the Stars pre-season game on Wednesday, and MNF...I'm just too busy. I feel like they deserve better than me.
I really want to focus on my career right now.

Wild Card chances are over. 4.5 back with the imminent loss tonight, with no more games left versus Boston. Only 20 games total left. We're not going to win 5 more games than Boston in a 20 game stretch, sorry.
We've got a slim chance in division, but pretty much every scenario sees us sweeping or only losing 1 to the Angels the rest of the way. Coupled with Angels really sucking the rest of the way.
Sadly, its the lack of starting pitching depth that will cost us down the stretch. Holland and Millwood are virtually throwing BP each time they go up there, and even our ace Feldman can be roughed up as we see tonight.
So stick in the fork.

I haven't watched the last couple games, after being pretty much hooked the last two or three months at least. Cowboys fever finally setting in, for one thing. But for another...yeah, things are starting to look bleak. Tonight's outcome is just brutal.
If it's the end, though, it was a hell of a run. I'll have these guys on my radar next season, to be sure. And I'll sure as the hell look forward to those Angels games upcoming.

there are rumors that Millwood is going to be put on waivers. Anyone have info on this? He is a little over 4 innings away from his 180 inning magic level that would give him a $12 mil bonus. For the love of god, Hicks, please sell this team.

well they're discussing this on the ticket right now. MLB is essentially running the Rangers at this point...Hicks is just a figurehead. From whatever article they're reading, and from what Nolan said in an interview, there will not be a new owner before April or May at the earliest. This is why they couldn't sign Purke, or any free agents. It's depressing...just as this thing starts to get going team-wise, Hicks loses whatever money he had.
