Very very interesting to read how Suns fans feel about Ayton... i vividly remember drooling over this guy as a potential Olajuwon starter kit. Size, skill, athleticism, the whole package. I was so bummed when we got the 5th! pick...
Thrilled with how things have turned out but who could've predicted ahead of time? I had heard of Doncic of course but had no idea he'd be what he's become. Also who knew that Ayton though solid hasn't really done anything of note.
Suns fans are all mad that he doesn't seem to have drive/motivation... haven't really watched him much apart from this series, but hard to disagree. Gotta remember that when watching Luka - sure we wish he'd act differently but you can't deny his passion for the game, passion to win, and passion to do something about helping his team get there.

So Luka’s playoff scoring average is 2nd all-time after only Jordan. He also averages 39 in elimination games, and in game 7’s, he averages 40.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 9 assists.
I don’t know about you guys, and this might be a really controversial opinion but… I think this Slovenian kid might be pretty good. Like, he might actually make it in the NBA. But you know, he's like, not athletic or whatever.

Luka hasn't had to really play in the 4th quarter in our last two big wins. He could have got 45+ last night.

But can he compete against NCAA talent? Needs to be seen.

Oh and also he's whiny and his teammates don't like him, apparently.

I don't know what was funnier, that or the folks saying he was scared to play in the 2018 Summer League out of fear of being exposed.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Anyone who doubted Luka coming into the draft didn't actually watch him play. If you've got time, I highly recommend going on youtube and watching his games with Real Madrid and the Slovenian national team. He was INCREDIBLE. Just breathtaking. This was the second best basketball league in the world, and Luka was dominating it at 18 years old. But Americans had no clue, because we're totally ignorant of European basketball.
You can't tell me that Stephen A. Smith or Skip Bayless were following Real Madrid against f*cking Fenerbahce. No way. Colin Cowherd and Max Kellerman flat out admitted in the run up to the 2018 draft that they hadn't seen much of Luka.
If Luka had played for Duke or North Carolina and completely dominated the NCAA the way he dominated Euroleague or Eurobasket, the hype would have reached Lebron level.

@MavsMuse
Luka Dončić has already faced as many All-NBA 1st/2nd team players (in 3 Playoffs) as LeBron James did in his 8-straight NBA Finals runs.

Luka Doncic saying ?everybody acting tough when they up? after a game 5 loss & proceeding to win the next two games by a combined 60 points to clinch the series was a legendary moment in playoff history

Regular season film is one thing....playoffs...that's where legends are created. Just the beginning. Having Kidd at the helm, knowing the rigors of the regular season....will make Doncic that much better. Luke Legend.

Luka 0-8 from three.
20-8-8 but 5TOs
The two things Luka has to work on to be a HoF talent and both are efficiency. Shooting and TOs.

Out of this world half for Luka against France - 27/4/4 with some circus stuff, but fouled hard with elbow on top of the head, cca 40 sec before end of half. 44-40 and no info if Luka is ready to continue.

Can you imagine giving up 5 firsts for Gobert? Luka just cooked that mofo...again.

That is easily the most insane overpay I've ever seen. If there's a more ridiculous trade in NBA history, I can't immediately think of it.

I think IF, IF you have Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd on your roster and the last major piece before becoming a championship roster is rebounding and defense, then it's still a tremendous overpay, but maybe you do it.
But that's not what happened. The Wolves' roster is crap and one of their top two players already plays center. I know it's a hot take, but I think it could end up being the worst trade in NBA history both in terms of fit, talent exchange, and cost.
Sure, most FRPs don't amount to much as we saw with the Hawks-Mavs and Knicks-Mavs trades, but with that many unprotected picks and a high likelihood of the Wolves imploding, I'd say it's likely that we look at this trade in hindsight as one of the worst of all time.

Does suck though that Luka really won't have much time off before camp. Again reinforces the need for another PG.

That might be a problem later in Luka's career, but the dude is only 23. He doesn't need that much rest. And honestly, given his history of slacking off and getting fat in the offseason, the lack of rest might be a good thing in his case.

Doncic found himself in Dallas? record books by joining Mark Aguirre (1984-85) and Jim Jackson (1994-95) as the only Mavericks to notch 30 points or more in each of the first two games of a season.
