june. its called era vulgaris. lanegan is back on some vocals and the Strokes' guitarist as well as trent reznor of NIN fame make cameos. i've heard a bit of one song and it sounds like old-school qotsa mixed with nirvana... so basically its awesome

No, I have them all except that one. I want to see them live but there's no tour and I don't think that they are stoping by here anytime soon.
Edit: That new song sounds VERY nice.

I really liked Beautiful Letdown. It wasn't as good as their first 3, but it was still really good.
Maybe part of the reason I liked it so much was because of the Beautiful Letdown song. That was released around the time I that started reading the novels of Charles Williams (now my favorite author), and the theme of that song is similar to a theme ("a terrible good") in my favorite Williams book (Descent Into Hell).

Astronautalis - You and Yer Good Ideas (I like it better than the sophomore effort. More rap-focused.)
Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity (Good, but I like Apple O' and Runners Four better - they're no longer that crazy, groovy, punky, foot-stompin' band that I loved.)
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway (Awesome. Sounds like Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co. sometimes, and just as good.)
Jeff Mangum - Live at Jittery Joe's (Chaff - don't know if you've heard this yet, but it's good. It's mostly NMH Aeroplane songs, but it includes a few that weren't on either album - just him and a guitar. These songs are SO damn good. Over the last couple of months I've determined that Aeroplane is pretty much my favorite album of all-time.)
Claude Debussey - Greatest Hits (Love this guy - I prefer most of the piano music over the orchestral stuff.)
Red Monroe - Meeting On a Train (Not as good as the sophomore album, not even close. These guys have REALLY improved. Not that it's bad - it sounds just like Bends era Radiohead. I just like the new version of Red Monroe better.)
Toadies - Rubberneck/Pleather/Others (Nostalgia FTW!)

Yeah, did you go? I saw the Houston show and the Dallas show. I must say, the venue for the Houston show made the difference for me - it was great. Not too big, not too small, and it was indoors - so it was a lot louder and more rambunctious than the Dallas show. Good times - reminds me of high school.

just a heads up, im guessing most of you know about it but if you dont, pandora.com is an amazing website. You type in the name of a band you like and they make a list of similar sounding artists. Great place to find out about new music.

el-p doesnt flood the market with material so when he releases something you know it's going to be quality. I can still listen to Funcrusher Plus and Fantastic damage. I think this one will hold up just as well.

actually I was disappointed, but just a little. But it's nice to see them developing their own sound. Althoug AntiSaint does have a Tool feel to it.
But I'm sure it will grow on me with more listens. As of now I like about half of it.

I read somewhere that they said this album was really heavy and all that, but when I first listened to it I was like.. ok? I guess I thought it would be like Wonder What's Next. But after a few listens I was cool with it. I like how Pete has focused on singing rather than having a bunch of screams in the songs.. nice change.

Yeah, it's not too heavy, and I was surprised there wasn't even one change of pace song. they all kind have the same groove. That and like most bands, it seems like they tried a little too hard. I was hoping that there would be a little more raw sounding stuff like Wonder What's next, or even some not as hard stuff like on Point #1. But I still like most of it.

New Kings of Leon comes out tomorrow. Great music. I've loved their last two CDs. You can't understand a word the lead singer is saying, but for some reason, that's actually a good thing - a signature, I guess.
