Kyrie played for 30 minutes. While Exum played FOR ONLY 15 MINUTES.

Gafford with only 4 rebounds but he gets hands on many offensive rebound balls.

Detroit bigs have a whole lot of PENT UP ANGER throughout this game.

That screen on DJJ was a BODY CHECK. That was purposefully done to harm DJJ. That is a hockey move. That did not use to be a basketball move. Nobody ever used to do that. But over the last few years there has been a great increase in aggression in the game of basketball so that such body checks are becoming more common. Defensive players are even starting to look for those things as a way to punish offensive players. To hurt them.

Of course, there used to be aggression in the game of basketball before too. And Detroit Pistons were very well known for that. So that the aggression is still there but I think it is probably channeled differently. Things get out of hand like this with often even plainly stupid or dumb things going on.

Exum is the only guy who looks like he could create his own shot if needed.

I'm just hoping with new starting lineup it helps to minimize some of the defensive issues by the playoffs

That's also a big part why Dallas had such a great start. There were 3-4 important calls that went Dallas way. And that's very, very rare for Dallas. To play a team like that.

THJ getting the ball out again. What you must know is that THJ is incapable of doing that in high-pressure, playoff moments. That would and will lead to easy turnovers. Yet Kyrie LETS HIM DO IT. Best ball-handler EVER who is also a POINT GUARD doesn't handle the ball.

In a super easy game like this Kyrie is sitting on ZERO ASSISTS.

Kyrie's attitude should be to OWN THE BALL WHEN IT'S OUT OF LUKA'S HANDS. And not to go one-on-one but to OWN WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE BALL. Who gets it, how it gets passed around, etcetera. Yet he is nowhere to be seen.

So this is PPG scored and allowed in games in which Luka and Kyrie played together OVER TIME. Over time is important because it can show whether there has been PROGRESS. And thaaaat is important to be able to assess whether Jason Kidd is doing a good job and whether the team is improving.

So that 37 games in which Kyrie and Luka played together are divided up into 4 groups, as you can see. First 10, 11-20, 21-30, and 31-37.

Look at that third group. 21-30. That is a sign of IMPROVEMENT. That is bingo. That is where Mavs need to be to compete in the Western Conference.

Kidd is working on maintaining a high scoring record of at around 118-119-120 ppg while preserving solid defense that allows at around 110 points. He is working on creating THAT SEPARATION that you see in games 21-30 that Luka and Kyrie played together.

And Cuban is also working on that. That's why they brought in Gafford and PJ as better defensive options. But it takes time to bed in new guys. This team is young and a work in progress especially when it comes to defense.
