No on McGee. Would rather cut Sanders for smoking too much dope than watch JM embarrass himself and others on a nightly basis.

Does the passion exist in Sanders? Perhaps new motivations? Playing in the Drew league this summer..

CJ Miles is a baller, grab him and Sanders and let's go ball.

I think everyone on this board would love Sanders as a first option if he decided to come back. I mean just type into google "Larry Sanders Chart" and the very first image that comes up is-

He's an elite paint protector but I would imagine several teams have an eye on him for a return and I just don't see him coming back so soon. If he ever does announce he is coming back, then he will shoot up to the number 1 spot on everyone's list. Not just here but across the NBA.

After Sanders I just want any athletic big who can screen and roll to the rim and be a threat(aka not Brand). Deron Williams(if he indeed comes here....) had a horrible year finishing at the rim. Brooklyn was one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the NBA. Like bottom 5 bad. Put him on the floor with Wes CP Dirk and a big who is an above the rim threat... he's gonna have so much space to finish he will be his own zip code. With our shooters he won't NEED the athletic big IMO but it's going to make the offense go to another level IMO with the added threat of a kick out, a drive to the rim, or a lob.

This is a little misleading if you factor in the fact that the 1 year he had a positive impact is the one full year he played with Denver. His years in Washington were for teams that never had more than 26 wins. All of his +/- numbers got considerably better as soon as he was traded to Denver, a team that won 57 games the year he played the whole year healthy. Then he had the injuries and has since fallen off. So if the Mavs medical staff clears him I don't know how a Vet minimum contract is a "risk".

@KBergCBS: Nuggets GM Tim Connelly acknowledges arrest of Ty Lawson on DUI charges in statement. "We will not have further comment on the matter."

@espn_macmahon: There is good reason the Mavs were so hesitant to trade for Ty Lawson. Hope he gets the help he clearly needs.

Raymond Felton is looking pretty good for Denver right about now.

At what point do we stop with all of the Larry Sanders daydreaming? That guy is about as realistic an option as signing Roy Tarpley's reanimated corpse at this point.

I don't think he's going to play in the NBA this season.

What about Emeka Okafor? I haven't heard anything on that front and googling hasn't yielded any interesting results.

BUY LOW
I was convinced he was going to be a rocket. Now I'm convinced that any intelligent FO is going to wait for his eventual buyout. In other words he's going to be traded to the Sacramento Kings or the Brooklyn Nets.

Maybe it's a good thing FO didn't pull the trigger on lawson. Second incident since January. And he isn't showing up to his own basketball camp this summer. Said interferes with his travel schedule. Not wanting him anymore. Unless he's bought out somewhere down the line

@SpearsNBAYahoo: Add free agent Ryan Hollins to the list of centers that Dallas is looking at, source said. Mavs coach Rick Carlisle recently called Hollins.

I'd like to bring up a player who I feel can still play at a high level. I just don't understand where his mind is right now. What's happening with Andrew Bynum?

IF McGee is over his injury issues, would be fine with him. Yes, he's got issues, but anybody the Mavs can pick up will.

Heard they were looking at Tyler Hansbrough too. Always thought he would be somebody that would help the Mavs. Nothing spectacular, just a high energy big guy. Kind of a more talented Eduardo Najera. Teams need players like that, especially the Mavs with their front court.

Looks like this will be the Roster if we cant rid of Felton (so far no talk).

Williams/Barea/Felton
Matthews/Harris/Anderson
Parsons/Jefferson/Anderson/Evans
Dirk/Villanueva/Evans/Powell
Pachulia/McGee/B.James

Would still feel better if we could get Hansbrough or get rid of Felton and get some better option at the 5 instead.

Both reasons are why I want Evans to be the first PF off the bench, Evans averaged a good 12.8 rebounds per 48 minutes last year in limited minutes (same as favors) and he's really athletic. Powell should still get some time but he has a long way to go defensively and on boards.

This is crazy, but I prefer this to signing McGee. Well, if we can get them both then we should. I feel that the Mavs should consider starting Dirk at Center. Then bring in Josh Smith to start at PF. Then our bench would actually look good with guys like J.J. Barea, Devin Harris, Richard Jefferson, Charlie Villanueva, and Zaza Pachulia.

I'm down. Didn't Dirk drop like 30 that one game he started at center this season? haha

I actually wouldn't be against josh smith, but in a bench role, I thought he provided decentish value to Houston last year.

I still want a flyer on Withey with his QO being rescinded... He's only 25 and coming out of Kansas his strengths were defensive rebounding, contesting shots, protecting the rim, and pick and roll offense with his weaknesses being lateral quickness and lack of upside.... I mean... Elton brand is getting a call but not this kid?

Agree, Withey is a good shot blocker and has decent offense.
Not 100% certain but think he holds the shot block record at Kansas.
And a great FT shooter for a big.

Would certainly be worthy of taking Sarge's place and a potential primary backup.
The reason they probably don't want him is because he isn't an above the rim type of player which is what Cuban says they are looking for.

We are down to McGee, Hollins and Dally.

Little bit of a fun fact some of you may have seen.....J.J Barea, Deron, and Felton all share the exact same birthday and are all 31 years old.....the interesting thing also is all 3 have 13 letter in their names. (A buddy of mine informed me of this)

If we can somehow land Rudy Gobert and Iman Shumpert, we can field a Felton, Barea, Williams, Shumpert, Gobert small-ball-all-born-on-June-26th starting lineup.

David ‘Dubi’ Pick: Tyrus Thomas pursuing comeback, had strong workouts in Las Vegas. Heard Dallas and Fenerbahce watched.

Make this happen! He's still young (28), and very very hungry. Even though he's made millions while out of the league he's fought hard to get back in. He really loves the game. Can't have enough guys like that.

Thomas was puzzled by a health issue that made him feel lethargic his last NBA season. He wanted to sign with an NBA team for the 2012-13 season, but didn't because "he wasn't feeling like myself." After visiting several doctors, a cyst on his spinal cord that was compressing nerves was discovered in November 2013.

The surgery "was scary for me, so it took me a while to decide if it was something I was going to have," Thomas said. "Was playing basketball worth risking the possibilities of what could go wrong?"

Thomas' love for the sport eventually overcame his fear of having surgery. He had the surgery in March 2014 to remove the cyst and was cleared for physical activity last October. He began playing basketball again in November.

He only recently starting playing basketball again and has a lot of upside as a defender. Definitely prefer him over any other option out there.

He provided really good value to Houston last year, as he cost very little.

We certainly need someone to replace Aminu and I'm not sold on Evans.
Plus we need more athleticism in our front court so I'd be in for him at the right price as long as he never takes a 3ptr.
