I did say probably.
Maybe the rest of the league including GS will decide to tank against us only.

That would make for an amazing season worthy of an ESPN special, like when the team let the autistic kid score

Why would anyone panic? This was definitely a potential outcome on the menu for this season. We can finally get excited for a high draft pick in a strong draft.
Just sit Dirk. There is nothing worse than watching an icon like him play like this.

Lillard is not human, I was a hater for a while, but he definitely arrived last year, and looks to be even better tis year.
D-Will is old and fat.
Matthews looks permanently challenged offensively.
Every lineup is a huge compromise. You have defensive players without offensive impact and vice-versa, you can't win too many gams like that.
Dirk should just sit out the season, there is no way this team is making the playoffs. But of course we all know they will find some form at some point and win like 32 games, so we have no chance at a high draft pick. Sign.
Mejri needs to play more. Every time the guy plays, he does good things. Actually, I guess then shouldn't play, and make us better, sorry Salah.

I think if you looked at the list of NBA players over the past few years to average 17 points on 47% shooting you'd be surprised how few guys are capable of that. It's not GREAT efficiency, but not what I would call mediocre either.
Barnes has basically been the only player (Barea also possible exception) who hasn't hurt us at any extended stretch so far this season. Plenty to dislike so far through 0-5, but Barnes has been better than advertised IMO.

FG% is basically irrelevant. Let's take a look at Gallinari, for example, he is shooting 38% from the field, and yet he is having a more efficient season, and that gap will likely widen. I did not say Barnes hurt us btw, just that 17 points on 17 shots is mediocre, which is a fact. Overall, he is still having a good season, though I would definitely wait until Christmas, until one tries to make any predictions about his season.

I still can't believe they even tried to play Dirk. The second you hear the word Achilles you shut that sh** down.

I am really hoping that Anderson will get extended playing time now with Barnes moving to PF. And out C rotations should be Mejri/ Powell.
I think with the younger more mobile line up we might be able to do some damage. I saw some really good stuff from them against the Blazers.

I agree with you, but how do you tell a Norse God to sit if he doesn't want to?

He isnt getting to the line. And for us, doesnt need take a lot of threes. At one point 7/14 with 15 points IIRC. It sounds bad(15 points on 14 shots), but 50% is nothing to sneeze at for a perimeter player.

Bogut being out mightve prompted him to feel like he had to get out there. But yeah, when I heard Achilles I was shocked at the announcement of Dirk playing last night.

This is an area where I'm not afraid to admit that I need more education: is there any correlation between Achilles soreness and tears? My impression was that Achilles injuries are almost always freak accidents.
I agree with the general consensus that anytime Dirk is unusually sore or sick, we should immediately shut him down until he's 100%.

Again, FG% is basically irrelevant, I don't know why anybody would still use it. Efficiency is what matters, and FG% does not measure efficiency well. If there would no free throws and three pointers in the game, FG% would be the best measure of efficiency, but since this is not the case, it is not. It doesn't tell you much.

Yeah, I think you are right, if I think about it logically. I guess a tear often comes from a smaller, partial tear, or maybe micro tears in the ligament, or tendon in this case, but yeah, I think it needs a specific angle and force to tear up. I gues inflammation could make it more susceptible for tearing? I don't know, not a doctor, obviously.

TS% is 55.5% and he's shooting a ridiculous 60% from midrange. By any reasonable measurement, Barnes is an efficient wing scorer. He's been the best player on the team this season, by a pretty sizable margin in my estimation. He has a long way to go before he's a #1 option, go-to franchise player but he's been better than I think most people would have predicted.

55% TS is league average, but since he had to carry the load pretty much by hmself so far, I agree. If he could keep that efficiency, that's a decent season from a scoring efficiency standpoint. It will not happen with 13 shots for 14 points and 17 shots for 17 points nights though. My math is terrible, but I believe that is around 50%TS, which is horrific for a main scoring option (or anyone, really). Hopefully he'll be able to make his threes at a high enough rate, because we have to understand that he'll not be a good foul drawer.

IMO it doesn't really matter what Harrison Barnes shoots this season. I think the main thing is getting him comfortable with taking more shots, taking contested jumpers, driving more, etc. He's only 24. I believe the real question is when he's 27 will he have developed enough over these next few seasons to be the #2 guy on a deep playoff squad? If the answer is "yes" he is absolutely worth every penny we gave him this offseason. If the answer is "no" we still have an athletic, reliable forward who is smart, plays defense, rebounds, and works hard.
