It's disheartening because we need Josh Howard.. this team looked awesome with him on the court. I had a feeling this was coming though. It's no fault of Josh's and I don't really understand the backlash against him here. The guy is coming off of pretty serious ankle surgery... that takes time to come back from and it's very, very likely that there will be setbacks along the way. It's why I didn't think we'd really have a healthy Josh this season. Although my hope beyond hopes is that Josh will be able to make an impact for us this season. With him on the court, we have a fighters chance against anyone in this league.

He's a resource sink, sucking up money, court time, and fan love that could all be directed to someone who would be more likely to contribute to a championship. TMac is always coming off some sort of injury, too. No fault of his, but I'm glad he isn't always coming off some sort of injury for our team.

Here's the question.. Is Josh Howard more of a vagina or a p*ssy?

Do i miss something?
Josh has bad luck and now bad ankles. But i dont blame him. Playing with that fucked up ankles against Denver should show he cares and he has a strong will.
Several other players would have held allready after game 1 a press conference crying that they tried all blabla.

The end of December? What the hell is going on?
I mean, seriously. They thought he was in good enough shape to play games a week ago, and now he's out until late December.
This just doesn't make any sense. I know it's easy to accuse Josh of being a bit weak, and he's certainly no Dirk in this department, but he DID nut up and play through the San Antonio series when he was obviously in serious pain.
This is just weird.

He nutted up during the playoffs because, well, those are the playoffs. Id rather he be out until he gets back to 100% and be ready to romp the 2nd half of the season than have a chance of re injuring the ankle during NOVEMBER.

I've accepted at this point that there's no way Josh Howard will ever be 100% healthy unless he actually takes a full season off, a la Gilbert (though in his case it took two, and he's still not really back to his former self).

Getting closer....
Quote:
I ask J-5 when he’s actually coming back, as he looked pretty good running through drills before the game. He says next week and a long discussion ensues about why I probably shouldn’t drop him.

Josh Howard is creeping closer to a return, but it will remain his call when he feels fit to play again. "He's getting closer," Carlisle said. "How close, I can't tell you. But he's making progress." ...

New here. Just picked up Howard on my fantasy team yesterday. I heard it's up to Howard, when Howard returns. Carlisle told the media that he's very close and that it's up to Josh when he returns. Hopefully it's sooner than later......

Picking up Howard in fantasy is plausible. The Cowboys coming into NY and thinking they're going to win against the Giants, especially in December, is hilarious.

You being DFL in your fantasy league is more probable than plausible... And being a Knicks fan is hilarious.

I wonder if JHo will be back tonight? I could see slick rick keeping it as a secret, and everything I hear says that Josh is closer and can come back whenever he is ready now. This would be a big game to have him for IF he is healthy.

IF he is not 150% then F it, let him continue to heal. I have a bad feeling that he will NEVER be fully healthy and have a chance to realize his full potential.

I know! If Dirk was injured I would call him a loser and a joke too! Fantasy basketball is what its all about and injuries make players losers.

He might be talking about Fantasy Basketball. And Josh Howard isn't doing Fantasy Owners any favors.

With Josh still out, Marion banged up, Barea playing a horrible season im getting more and more pissed that we passed on Jax.
Yes he is a complete moron. Yes without basketball he would be in prison long time. But he is still an above average player, can play multiple positions and he brings things on the court we still lack and things you need to win it all...
Nice read from today:
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/423/story/1097445.html
Bobcats knew Bell considered a season ending operation, so they got him basically for Radman and expirings. I also wonder if there was the possibility of a Monta/Jax for Josh/Shawne/Barea/XY trade in the summer before Monta showed that he still has it...
Yes, its a huge risk having two 31year old wings longterm 4-5 years for 8-10mio in the books. But we have just 3-4 years left anyway...

Well another thing you're not factoring in is chemistry. Jax is a wild card, no one really knows how he would fit in on this Mavs team, chemistry wise. Personally, I would MUCH rather have a healthy Josh Howard than Jax. Granted, Howard's health is our main concern here. However, IF Howard can come back "healthy", then I think that makes the need for SJax obsolete.

It is a moot point whether Howard would be better. Right now, I would be better than Josh, because Josh can't step in the court. McGrady is better than howard, but what's the point if he's not playing? Yao Ming is one of the best centers in the NBA, but would anyone trade for him now? He's out for like 2 years.

I'll give ya that, I only bring up the point because of Josh's supposed soon return. If he does end up coming back soon, which he is supposed to, and he can stay healthy, which again is expected, then I think that would render Jackson obsolete.

But will he come back like he did last time, play a couple of quarters in which he jacks up shots because he won't go to the hole if has even the slightest discomfort and then limp off the court and shut it down again?
At this point, I think that's what we should all expect.

Josh Howard staying healthy is expected? By who? You?
I would love to have year 1 or year 2 Josh Back. But that Josh doesn't exist anymore, but in maybe a 3 minute burst every 2 weeks.

We're just spoiled because Dirk, Terry, and Kidd have combined for something like 40 games missed in their careers as Mavericks.

I would say that he has had this same, nagging injury for the past two years, and that is the cause of his missing all this time. If the surgery did what it is DESIGNED to do, he should come back healthy. Only time will tell, i'm just hoping that the surgery accomplished it's intention, and that Josh will come back healthy.
And i assume you mean you would love to have the health of year 1 or year 2 Josh back.

If the surgery had done what it was designed to do, then he would have been back and playing at 100% a long, long time ago. The fact that he wasn't tells us that it didn't do what it was supposed to do and that we're going to have a hobbled Josh, for at least the rest of this season if not the rest of his career.

I'm sure his return has nothing to do with the two game losing streak and the fact we're facing another good team. There's just no way you can make the case we're rushing him back too early.
